    I've hoped all my life for this wingsuit kind of flying. Now I'm 87, so I guess it's too late for me. But it's nice to know my grandchildren will be able to fly.

I imagine a lightweight but powerful exoskeleton to prevent your arms and legs breaking from the forces being applied by the electric jets. Combine it with a wingsuit and probably this chestmounted thing too and you could fly from hover and also high speeds like this.

    It makes total sense to have the power unit mounted below the chest. This puts the centerline of thrust below the centerline of drag and naturally causes a pitch up moment under power which is easy to modulate through the thrust control. Pretty cool!

    • @carlosdominguez3108
      @carlosdominguez3108 2 дня назад

      Sure you can talk about thrust, but that's secondary to simple safety. You have a rig on your back, you still need to reach back and deploy your pilot chute. Have an electric thrust system on your back ensures there will eventually be a snag or some sort, or you can't deploy, or there's weird burbles that make the pilot chute unable to deploy a main. Keep in mind you don't even have a reserve in BASE.

  • @BUDX

    I have been skydiving ever since I was 19 and getting to witness such innovation is mind bending. It is not easy to maneuver swiftly in that suit and adding that electric jet can even make turning a little harder as your speed increases hence you get little time to take sharp turns. I don't know how he would manage it but this surely seems incredibly amazing to me.

      Superman could take off and land without jumping from a helicopter or wearing a parachute and he didn't need batteries so he could fall further, just saying that if you really are trying to do a comparison with a cartoon character, not trying to burst your bubble as I think it's cool but not practical.

    WOW! I m speech less, that guy has real guts! I could never do anything like. I am in my mid 50's and have never even flown in anything except a roller coaster when I was a kid. I fell off a ladder painting a house about 10 feet up and am permanently disabled.

      I am sorry to hear, maybe a zero g situation would be beneficial and maybe fun. Parabolic flights are certainly not cheap...but could be an achievable and amazing experience for you. Obviously with guided safety measures in place. Have a great day... If nothing else might make for a nice daydream. 😊😉👍

    "What he calls an impeller"...... Yeah pretty sure that's what everyone else would call it too. He didn't invent the impeller lol.

    Serious military application for special forces jumping from safe zones into operational areas. Also if the battery capability could be extended, it would be even more incredible than it already is. Great work!

      Only thing is, it would be a pricey program due to its weight. Soldiers can’t carry one of these home, unless it somehow broke down into pieces. They’d likely have to scuttle a dozen or so every time they deployed a team with it.

      @Ready For Anything I'm thinking more spec ops small team infil light gear QRF missions or recon type stuff, not so much for full scale drops. If you think how much dropping bombs cost per bomb, a few disposable jet suits is a drop in the ocean

      The military and the Military Industrial and Intelligence Complex would be way ahead of this.
      They would of known he was working and developing it from the start, and there wasn't any mention of the military contacting him which just re-enforces that its obsolete to them.

    Just imagine how this tech
    will just get better and better,
    as battery technology continues to improve ...

    • @valeharperx
      @valeharperx 2 года назад +5

      5 minutes of battery is already pretty impressive. Think about it, you're not keeping this thing running for the whole 5 minutes. Instead, you're only using it every now and then to adjust and when you want to go higher. The use time to do that is far less, so your potential flight time ends up being much more than 5 minutes total.

      battery tech is not going to improve as much or as fast as you think. the more energy dense, the more unstable it becomes. just like Musk's vaporware claims about a battery 2x as powerful by doubling the size only.

    " A flatter glide" is what he was after, and got. Hardly enough thrust in that little unit to climb out, short of a brief zoom climb. Still pretty cool.

      It just helped zoom climb a bit farther, a bit higher, which is still cool.
