Great content, as always. I can’t believe Ping planned to end up with all these variations with so much overlap . I suspect their designers are constantly being handed new demands from on high and this confusing mess is the result.

Love this, I got into the LST last year because my AOA is fairly neutral to sometimes fractionally down, and thus my drives would balloon and do all kinds of bad things. But like you stated my SS is low 100s (max out around 105) which normally wouldn't be in LST range, however moving to the LST head corrected my spinney drives and made a huge improvement (I would also agree that as a low spin head it is SHOCKINGLY forgiving). Having seen all of the feedback in regards to spin on the Max 10k I think I'm gonna take the plunge and sell the LST head and grab some forgiveness and low spin thank you very much. As usual this was very thorough and informative.

Ping drivers weren't even on my radar until my buddy hit one and I was really impressed with what it did for him. He ended up with the SFT in a S-55g shaft. I ended up with the LST in a low spin, low launch shaft (Kia'Li White) in 9* turned up to 10*. My best hit was 303yds of carry, 339yd total with 118mph club head speed and 165mph ball speed. The AI Smoke had better numbers with ball speed and club head speed but was 7 yards shorter than the Ping. Plus the Ping had a lot better dispersion and my misses were still playable.

Welcome to the world of Ping. They don't care about being longest, they care about being longest overall..... Including mishits 😊👍🏻👍🏻

Fit into the G430 Max last year with 1 change from standard; have the lighter 11g back weigh set in draw position. Have great trajectory with very small draw. Like all your reviews and fitting provides even more options than the standard models.

Having heard all of your report, use the Callaway AiSmoke max, adjustable weights, forgiving, great dispersion and long.

Wish this review had been available 7/8 months ago, used the our club demo g430 max for a couple of rounds & loved it but still a slight fade/slice then went for a fitting & was persuaded into the g430 sf-tech but it isn’t a consistent as max & not quite getting the distance, great review & will possibly look at swapping thanks

    How many versions. 7????
Who on earth would have the patience and dedication to test them all?

I have the g425 Max 10.5 degrees and the g425 lst 9 degrees. After lots of test on course with arccos and using a launch monitor data I’ve settled on gaming the g425 Max turned down to 9 degrees. I get less spin and a slightly higher launch than I do with the LST along with a straighter flight. According to arccos I also gain .25 of stroke per round using the max with an average of 2 more yards compared to the LST. Obviously it’s just how I deliver the club causing it to be better for me.

Finally managed to catch up with this one. Very interesting re LST. Not in the market to change my 425 Max yet, but will ensure I try a LST when I do as well as the 10K. 👍🏻

Hi Jay, your videos are awesome. In September 2023 i was custom fit at 2ndSwing in Delaware, MD for TSR3. Always loved Ping drivers and I'm going to email you my Club data from my custom fit and hopefully you can suggest which Ping driver would fit me best. Obviously this is just a suggestion, since you would have to see me hit shots but its a starting point before i go back to the store and try out these Ping drivers. Thanks Stephen.

Thanks Stephen for the email, went through it, probably wouldn't get the LST due to your low spin tendency although specd correctly it may well work well. The new G440 are literally just around the corner and I haven't got a clue as yet how they will perform. It seems you run slight draw bias swing dynamics so I would suggest the SFT is out of consideration 👍

@ thanks Jay, you’re spot on, my natural shape shot is a slight draw. I didn’t mention I was using a ProV1x during my custom fit.
My TSR3 10 degree head playing at 10 deg at B1. The shaft is a HZDRS RED CB 50 g 6.0. Looking at Pings optimal launch & spin chart for a 145 mph ball speed with a AOA between 4 and 6 degrees up, my optimum spin should be about 2200 rpm with about a 17 deg launch angle. My average was about 2300 rpm and 17.1 deg launch angle, including that one low spinner at 1700 rpm. With my smash at 1.48 indoors on Trackman, my overall ball stats are close to ideal, so looks like I’m in the correct shaft for the TSR3 head.

Good on you Jay, awesome content as always. Might have to retire my old not so trusty 915 D3 for the 10K this year.

Something that old, you will surely see a big difference in the Forgiveness especially. Distance may well also go up as an average due to the increased 👍forgiveness.

Great stuff as usual. Very well explained. Let's hope there is a Max 10K with moveable weight next year. That would be ideal.

Fantastic review! Thank you. Just curious if you take the G430 Max 10.5 degree and drop the loft to 9.0 degree, what would that do to the spin characteristics?

  • @home4ya
    @home4ya 10 месяцев назад

Jay, based on the high launch/low spin of 10k, which balls would be a great fit for that as to not delete those ideal characteristics? (100mph w +4* launch)

Shocked that the SFT is the least forgiving but I've noticed that my G425 SFT 7W seems to be less forgiving than my G430 Max 5W.

Howdy, nope that shouldn't matter by changing the shaft but it may feel bloomin heavy to swing 👍🏻
