  • In this video I will share my experience about how to germinate Japanese maple seeds. When you germinate Japanese maple seeds, you will not get the same exact plant as the parent tree, but you will nevertheless get a beautiful palmatum, dissectum, red or green :). To germinate Japanese maple seeds is an easy process but there are a lot of steps to it, so follow along and check out the way I do it :)
    This video is very detail oriented and I packed in a lot of information and data. Make sure to check the other videos about how the seedlings got to this stage :)

    So you don't need to cold stratify the seeds before planting them? Congrats on your beautiful trees. I love your channel!

    • @mapleticker
      @mapleticker  Год назад +2

      @yakofdez4698 thanks so much! You can go either way: cold stratify them by keep the seed trays outside or ‘moist chill’ them in the fridge. Both ways work. It really depends on the quality of the seeds. Good luck and thanks again for the comment! ✌🏻😀🍁

      @@mapleticker Thank you so much for your answer. I don't know if the winter is cold enough where I live for the seeds to germinate, winter is mild over here and only very rarely temperature is below 0°C, I would say most of the time it's 5 to 15°C. Do they need a minimum temperature? I've looked it up but I can't find that information anywhere. Thank you so much for your time, you're very kind. I'm really looking forward to seeing your new seedlings next Spring, I'm sure they'll be beautiful. 😊

      @mapleticker  Год назад +2

      @@yakofdez4698 If it’s that mild then you should go for the fridge method. So turn your fridge down to 4 C if you can and put the seeds in a ziplock bag like you see in the video. If you are lazy like I am 😅😅😅 sow the seeds in small containers and put those in the fridge. They will be super fine there. Cant wait to post videos of the seedlings in February!

    • @mapleticker
      @mapleticker  11 месяцев назад

      Yep, they’ve probably drowned. Must not soak them for longer than 36hrs. Dont worry, dried seeds you bought were probably not viable anyways. Dont give up!

    Got a question for you sir does Red Dragon,Katsura,coral bark,moonrise,Beni Otake,and seiryu, Ruby ridge Japanese maples have seed

    • @mapleticker
      @mapleticker  Год назад

      Thanks for the question! ✌🏻🍁 All maples ahould develop seeds, however it usually happens to trees older than 8-10 years and not every year. Seed collection is all about luck on this sense. Also keep in mind that the seedling do not grow up to become clones of the parent tree. Hope this helps!

    What if i give to much water to the plant

    • @mapleticker
      @mapleticker  Год назад

      Too much water will drive them too fast and/or cause mildew to grow. Once/2 days is enough watering. 😀
