- The state of Manipur in north-east India has been rocked with ethnic violence, in a conflict marked by murder and sexual crimes against women.
The fighting between the majority Meitei and minority Kuki communities has left hundreds of people dead. Neighbours who lived peacefully together are now involved in a bloody conflict over issues including rights to land, jobs and political power.
The state is deeply divided and with claims that India’s government has been slow to step in, civilians are taking matters into their own hands.

As a permanent resident of Manipur, I want the whole world to know that the Government has failed the people of Manipur. The ethnic war is between the Meiteis and Kukis but other tribes also suffer a lot from this crisis. It's been almost 5 months that internet facilities are shut down. I beg the whole world to put necessary pressure on our Hon'ble PM Modi ji for restoring nolmalcy at the earliest. Students have not been able to attend classes for almost 6 months now. Prices of commodities, fuel etc have risen up.
Perhaps you can provide a suggestion of what he can do.

The people need to resolve their issues because the central govt cannot deploy there 24x7.

I am a meitei and it is extremely painful to see what is happening in my state. We( both meitei and kuki) are acting like savages. Manipur was on a fast track way in its development now I feel like we are going back to stone age. The poor/ common people are suffering a lot. Actually most of the Indians don’t know much beyond West Bengal, only in election voting and results days we get to understand the geography and tribal politics,culture of North-Eastern part of India.

And the state in crisis Manipur has only 2 representatives in Indan parliament, on top of that the ethnic minority Kuki doesn't even have a single representation in the Indian Parliament. So, negligible for the Government which in turn is negligible for the medias.

Thousands of acres hill areas are first devoid of trees and natural vegetation then strong herbicides and fertilizers are used to render the areas uncultivable but suitable for Poppy plantation. These nefarious activities have been going on for more than a couple decades. Mind you such hill areas are hard to reach terrain and gaurded by armed militants of the Kuki group. But in recent years the Manipur government decided to take actions and destroy the Multi- million dollar business. This triggered the Kuki community so much they made other excuses to start a war against the Meitei community which has been going on now for 4 months

Meitei colonies and communities and all houses in Kuki dominated areas namely Churachandpur and border Town Moreh( Myanmar border) have been razed to the ground and their colonies turned into parks, after looting all belongings in the houses. But Kuki houses in Meitei dominated areas are still intact in the hopes peace will be restored once again

When Meiteis die, don`t blame Kukis, ASK THEM WHY THEY PERSIST TO ATTACK KUKIS.

On what criteria/basis can you consider the Meiteis community which comprises 45% population, and Christian tribals which comprise 41% of the total population of the tiny region as majority and minority respectively? It's interesting to note that international coverage of Manipur's situation has increased following Canada's diplomatic dispute with India. The people of Manipur could have benefitted from such attention a month ago.

I'm not a Meitei nor Kuki. Sometimes, war often breaks out between different parties with different reasons. The war that broke out in Manipur is not a religious war but a war between Meiteis and the Kuki-zo community.
But the problem here in this war was that:
1. The Meiteis and the Manipur Government together with the Manipur Police war with the Kuki-zo community. Manipur Government and the State Police seems to be of Meiteis only.
2. The Meiteis have targeted and burnt down many Churches, though this is not a religious war.
3. The Meiteis and the Manipur Government never tell the truth. They always lie and can never believe what they said. So they always make a false accusations which is their nature.
I'm not a supporter of Kukis, but I couldn't side with the wrong person.

Three days before we got some video and photographs of two missing students and came to know they have killed by kukis. Kukis wild carnivorous act of killing two student makes many students protest and asking for justice. But Many got injured because of the national securities ugly and harsh action. We are totally hurt physically and mentally. Meiteis are said to be majority and the state government supported but the truth is Meiteis are treating like step mother child by the Government of India as local government have no power.
