Usually, pianists like me want the stage to myself, ( because I’m a selfish brat ), but your listening to people and giving them a stage!! Some people can’t take compliments but I just can’t stop saying that it’s kind as a understatement 🎉🎉👏👏

I use to play piano when I was a kid and I absolutely hated it. ABRSM was a nightmare and I fought with my parents to quit piano. I eventually did. This is gona sound cheesy but recently I watched Your Lie In April and it really touched my heart and I realized I could do that to others if I learnt classical. I fell in love with classical music and now I am committed to it

I hated ABRSM too, but I was determined to get to a high grade for piano because after 10 years of violin I still hadn’t managed to get very far. I’ve been doing ABRSM grades on piano for exactly a year now and will be doing grade 4 in August (via remotely assessed exams), so pretty much in a year for piano I’ve come about as far as I did in almost a decade of violin. In terms of stuff outside of grades, it was actually taking music for GCSE that got me really interested in classical music. I still hate doing grades but my teacher luckily understands the enjoyment I get from other pieces (especially those of Chopin & liszt) so I appreciate his help a lot.
I’m not entirely sure what my point was anymore, but I felt like sharing my story. I think I was tryna say that my case was the same as yours for violin, but now, I’m more into playing piano than my parents even want me to be

I'm a student of classical music, but I don't share this opinion. I enjoy other genres of music just as much (such as Jazz or Electronic Music) and I want to become a producer or Jazz Pianist. I think if you really get into it, you realize many genres of music are much more than you can hear if you just listen to it occasionally.

I really respect for those who learn classical music by ear, through RUclips and midi, without sheet music.
I think it’s way easier to read scores once you learn how to read it.
But no matter what method they use ,it’s great to see people having interest in and trying to learn classical music!

It gave me a reason to "strive" for something more in life and I'm so grateful that I discovered classical music. Now I'm studying music at university and doing what I love. Classical music opened so many doors for me and has given me the most incredible experiences of my life.

9 years old. 4th grade, 1961 and a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Peter and the Wolf performed by the Dayton Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. I was carried away to a wonderful place on those notes. Then came classical pieces by Lizt like Liebestraum, Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Chopin, Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Concerto in C minor and with exposure to each my love for classical music and piano grew. I wanted so much for my parents to get a piano and take piano lessons. That however never came to pass. Yet I was fortunate that my mother and her sisters all took voice, sang and took piano lessons as well. I was exposed to several genres of music growing up and to this time at 71 years old love music 🎼 in general and classical music in particular. Tiffany I am very grateful for both your passion and efforts to expose us to classical music and piano in particular. Thank you very much for helping to keep classical music alive and relevant. PS. To this day there are classical pieces that transport me with eyes closed to very wonderful and far away places where the cares of the day seem to melt away and my soul breathes freely. Finally as a retired over the road truck driver many hours driving were spent listening to classical music whilst taking in the panoramic vistas of mountain scenery or the Southwestern desert sunrises or brilliance of autumn colors in the Blue Ridge mountains. To me these were always best viewed with classical music playing in the background. Ah! Now that was living.

This video made me shed a tear a little.. Sometimes words aren't enough for people to express themselves, especially when words and speech had been denied to express oneself for a very long time. this is so true! as a kid I could never understand my emotions and I'm still quite out of touch but I found it so difficult to talk about everything I was experiencing. Hi Tiff - I don't play an instrument anymore, but I wish I did.
My first experience with classical was, like many Americans, with the Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck cartoons, as well as Disney's Fantasia. Seemed like it was just 'always around' in my life. But I still remember the evening I got totally thrilled with it. I was driving home in my truck late at night - and in a snowstorm - from a stressful trade school class, and I turned on the local classical station (WCLV) to relax a little. A piece of music came on that was just incredible!! I was stunned, and I noted down the time on my clock, and when I got home I actually phoned the Cleveland radio station and asked the man who answered what they'd played at the noted time. (This was way before cell phones and the internet). The guy looked it up and told me it was Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto 2 in D minor. The next day I purchased an album of Rach music lol, and a whole new world was opened for me.
I tend to really enjoy the Russian composers, and I love any music in a minor key. SO dramatic! And in the past year, I've begun to explore traditional and classical music of Asia - China, Japan, Korea especially.
I enjoy every Tiffany vlog, and every piece of music you play, and have LOVED LOVED LOVED watching what you've done over the past couple of years, not only with music, but with your travels, your thought processes, with the internet, and especially with your charity work. Every time I see you I want to congratulate you on a life well lived. Love you, and I really love your future already!!
Truly, you are one of my heroes. 💙

My first experience of a life concert was in 1965, when I was a freshman at Stephen F Austin College in Nacogdoches Texas. Nacogdoches is a very small town in East Texas and SFA is a very small college there. To my great surprise, Arthur Fiedler in person and the Boston Pops gave a concert at my small little college. You have to remember in 1965 Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops were very popular and well-known across America. I don't think he brought the full orchestra but he bought brought a couple of busloads of them to our college. I thought it was a great thing that a man of his stature was going out and giving concerts to the small little colleges across America to spread classical music. I am eternally indebted to his generosity.

For me, it has always been something very personal, something that I don't really talk about with friends, but feel a great passion for. It is a kind of escape where I can just switch off from the hustle and bustle of real life when i need to. The other thing I love about it is depending on how you feel, you will hear the music differently, might notice a subtle sound you didn't hear before, or feel it it a different way!

My grandmothers on both sides of the family are pianists. One of them was my first music teacher. I wasn’t entirely keen on playing the piano - I’d fall asleep just as my grandmother would fall asleep during our lessons. I stopped though, because I had other priorities. It was her who taught me to love music in all forms. A few years ago, she passed away and it was heartbreaking. I always thought I’d get back to learning from her eventually, but it just never happened.
A few months ago, I went on a RUclips binge of classical music channels, including this one. It sparked something within me that has been asleep for many years, and memories of times when I would sit in my grandmother’s lessons with her other students, memories of watching her practice all came flooding back. I started to dig up old pieces, and learn new ones. In some way, it has helped me heal from many of the things that I have gone through as well. Classical music makes me see the world in a new way, but it’s also a way for me to connect with my grandmother who I’ve thought I’ve lost. I feel her alive in me when I listen, or attempt to play. I feel myself healing bit by bit.

Hi Tiffany, somehow the RUclips algorithm has found its way to lead me back to you, and I'm so very glad, nostalgic, and proud to see you so grown up and be where you're at right now! It is also meaningful to find you asking "what is classical music is to you and me", because I began to explore classical music in my adulthood with you. I first saw you about ten years ago, when I was a college first-year. You played Bach's French Suite so beautifully in your purple dress that I would play your video over and over again, for a long long period of time. There were many versions of the French suite, but yours was my favorite. It kept the fundamentals so well, yet delivered a powerful imagery of blooming flowers and green pasture. Your music consoled my heart when I was having a difficult time with culture shocks and homesickness. I was fresh out of the boat, across the globe and a 17-hour flight from home. During that time and with your music, I discovered my fondness for Bach's music, and was also inspired to get back to playing the piano myself. Since then, my love for classical music and especially Bach has continued on for ten years now. I wanted to say THANK YOU for your music that consoled my heart when I was going through a rough time. Again, I am so glad to encounter you again as a grown woman. How time flew. I will continue to witness your journey here on RUclips!
