‘Harold Lloyd Jenkins!’ Born in the Mississippi Delta and took his stage name from towns in Arkansas. He died suddenly in 1993 from a ruptured abdominal aneurysm. Definitely gone too soon. My favs are Slow Hand and Lay You Down. Yeah he sang to the ladies and was considered a sex symbol for sure! Hello Darlin’ I think was probably his most popular. R.I.P. Conway. ♥️
Oh Conway was played every weekend in my home cleaning house along with all the OG’s of Country His song i’de Love to lay you down The Rose , Its Only Make Believe and one of my funny favorites With Loretta Lynn …. Your The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly
Conway is one of the Goats of country music. Not many people can hold a candle to him. I recommend all of his songs even his duets with Loretta Lynn!!!
Enjoyed your reaction is always guys. You ask for Conway you'll get Conway. Hello darling. Lying here beside her with Linda on my mind,Tight fitting jeans. Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn you're the reason our kids are ugly. Louisiana woman Mississippi Man. Have a great day.
This isn't the original version of this song. Someone added the Military dedicated to her Dad. I dedicate this song every Father's day for my Dad😢❤🎉 It's a beautiful song to dedicate to a Dad❤
Conway Twitty was Military this was a memorial to him he died in 1993 he died of an aortic rupture he left the world too soon. He started in Rock and Roll but his passion was Country. After graduating from high school, Conway Twitty was offered a contract to play baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies, but was unable to accept because he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War.
Louisiana woman, Mississippi man Conway and Loretta Tight fitting jeans I love to lay you down Slow hand It’s only make believe Take your pick they are all great And they shouldn’t hit ya in the feels all upbeat songs
This song never fails to make me cry. Conway had such an amazing voice. Few people hold a candle to the legendary Mr. Twitty. As for the military theme, I think that was a fan made video, I don't think Conway made an official video other than a recording of him just singing this. My aunt adored this man. She saw him several times in concert. Says he was one of the greatest singers she had ever heard live. As for songs by Conway...wow, where to begin. "Hello, Darling" is one of the greatest of all time. "Slow Hand" and "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" a duet with the glorious Loretta Lynn. Actually, he has a number of duets with Loretta Lynn.
I have never stopped singing a song during a performance and used to perform this one... my dad died in 2002. The very first time I tried to perform this after his passing, I had to stop on the final chorus. I couldn't detach/desensitize myself from/to the content. Just over 20 years later, I still have never again been able to peform it... I have tried to just practice it many times since, and always have to stop practicing for about half an hour to deal with my emotions. When the song was released, I thought it was a great song, and my dad was alive and healthy. So, it was just a song I felt good about knowing. Little did I know how hard it would hit me later. Keith, I feel for you , brother. I have only recently found you guys, and don't know your current situation. I only have experience with my dad in hospice and my wife's dad in hospice.. you have my sympathy. If you have/had a close relationship with your father, keep this song handy. I have found that when I need to work through those feelings, and for me after 20 years it still feels fresh, while this song is does not entirely describe the relationship between my dad and myself, it checks enough boxes and strangely, helps me work through that period of grief.
Conway had me fooled for years during the doo wop era. He had a big hit with "It's Only Make Believe" and had me thinking I was listening to Elvis. For years!!!

So sorry to hear about your dad. I went thru hospice with my dad. My husband named my cat Conway Kitty. Con for short and she lived 21 years. I love Make Believe by Conway Twitty. This is a classic that I feel has kinda been forgotten about. But wow, his vocals in this song is amazing to me. Love your channel!
More OGs and I don't think y'all have covered them? Keith Whitley and Earl Thomas Conley's Brotherly Love. And Dan Seals's Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold.) Both are excellent.
Conway Twitty has a lot of greats. Here's some of Conway Twitty's greatest " Hello darlin", "Happy birthday darlin" , " It's only make believe", "Tight fittin' jeans", " "I'd love to lay you down", " I don't know a thing about love (the moon song)" , " I see the want to in your eyes", " Linda on my mind" , " Play guitar play", "The rose" , "Slow hand", "You've never been this far before", " Don't cry Joni" ft Joni Lee
When music videos got more popular, l remember Conway saying he wasn't gonna do any videos. He felt the song was enough. A video of him singing a song would be from a tv special, award show, concert or a tv show like Hee Haw. Conway has a long list of hits & all are great. My favorite is "You've never been this far before". The duets with Loretta Lynn are fantastic. They had fun singing together. "Louisiana Woman Mississippi Man" "Lead me on" "After the fire is gone" "Feelins" "I can't love you enough" "7 til 10" "Lovin' what you're lovin' does to me" "You know just what l'd do" "I still believe in waltzes" "As soon as l hang up the phone" "The Letter" Funny songs by them are; "You're the reason our kids are ugly" "I don't like spiders & snakes" Conway & Loretta were the best of friends. Even Loretta's husband Doo loved Conway. Very sad day when Conway died. I believe if Conway was alive today he'd still be making hit songs & George Strait would of never passed up Conway with hit songs. Conway was known as "The best friend a song ever had & he knew how to write. Sure do miss him. Why don't you do a Conway & Loretta day. Play a song by Conway, then a song by Loretta & then end it with one of their duets. That would be fun!
Conway Twitty Country-music star Harold Lloyd Jenkins was offered a contract to play for the Philadelphia Phillies before getting drafted into World War II. Stationed in Japan, he wound up forming a band and joining the local Army baseball team. The former endeavor won a military talent competition, and the band was then attached to the Armed Forces Radio Service in Tokyo. Couldn't find out why they used the military references in this video,,, maybe the song was written when he was in, or by one of the band members...
Recommendations: Travis Tritt (trilogy): Anymore, Tell Me I Was Dreaming, and If I Lost You Thomas Rhett (songs go together): Marry Me and Remember You Young
Yes on the OG day!!! As far as I'm concerned everyday could be OG day!!! And I can keep you hooked up with songs! And on OG Fridays play several songs. Maybe a throwback Thursday?? Or a way back Wednesday? or maybe a timeless Tuesday? Or a forgotten Friday? 😂😂😂 🤘🤘 Thank you Dustin for tracking all the songs! I'm sorry I keep you so busy! 😂
Conway was one of the best. May I suggest Lee Greenwood " God Bless the USA"? I saw him do it live both when he opened for Kenny Rogers, and again for Alabama..The most powerful performance both times I was lucky enough to see.
Keith I am sorry to hear about your dad. Songs like this one definitely hit you in the feels. Conway Twitty is definitely country OG with 55 number 1 singles and one even being banned from a lot of country radio stations. That song was "You've never been this far before".
Votes added for these, ya'll aren't trying to make Keith and I uncomfortable are ya?? You know there is a good chance we'll ruin a romance tune :) -Dustin
On the ride home from the hospital after my Dad was pronounced dead, this song played, and I lost it. Anything Dad related.. gets me everytime. That is the sign of a great Daddy. !! Thanks for checking Conway out.. love this era of music.
The military references are likely to be personal to who put up the video. My dad is 90 years old and failing. Korean War Veteran. The sisters are looking for a tribute song for him. I really like Dan Fogelberg's "Leader of the Band" (soft rock). I had forgotten about this one. You should check out Roger Miller. "King of the Road", "Dang Me", "Chug-A-Lug", "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd". 1960s fun country songs.
I had 8 brothers and sisters, my dad a very independent guy always in charge and almost never a nice word, but he taught us boys plenty , most of it was good . Yeah he was rough but that was him , when he was getting up in age he asked me to help him work on his truck, something he never did , while under the hood he told me he was proud of me and told me I turned out to a good person. He died 4 years later. I still miss him. This song makes anyone tear up
Check out Andy & Alex and their community polls. They have nailed the community polls. They put up four songs on Fridays and do the highest songs voted on two Fridays later. They just interviewed a couple of the band members from the Zombies.
Conway is the ultimate. Straight up. He's right up there next to Elvis, even used to sing almost identical to him. Multiple genres, 50 number ones, has so many hits that it's just crazy.
Check out a couple of 'sexy songs' of his, like 'I'd love to lay you down' or 'I can tell you've never been this far before'. 'It's only make believe' is probably his biggest hit. 'Hello Darlin' is another goodie.
I highly recommend these songs from Conway! Hello Darlin Fifteen Years ago I see the want to in your eyes Play Guitar Play Don’t take it away I’d love to lay you down Rest your Love on me Red Necking Love Makin Night Somebody’s Needing Somebody Goodbye Time Rainy Night in Georgia Kenny Rogers - The Gambler, Lady, She Believes in Me, The Greatest, Don’t Fall in Love with a Dreamer
This song is about the pure love of a father and his kids (son in this case). My daughter is 13 (and yeah we have those fights) and my son just turned 9. And as a father this song is what I want to be to my kids, and what I want them to see in me.
Praying for you and your dad Keith. Makes me think of my dad who isn't a spring chicken anymore. He is 73 and has had his own problems and has aged a lot over the past decade. As a guy, many of us may never admit it, but our dad's mean more than anyone would ever know. The classic thing is a daddy's girl, but us guys (in general) have the same thing but we tend to hide it.
Gary Allen wrote a few songs after his wife committed suicide in their home that are very beautiful and meaningful to those who have lost someone "Best I Ever Had" and "Life Ain't Always Beautiful"
There is a song that Alan Jackson sang that perfectly fits where you guys are with your expanded musical horizon today and aptly called 'Gone Country'.
"I pray someday I might light as bright as he." I want to thank you gentlemen for doing this particular song. Your timing is uncanny. My father passed away this past weekend. There's not a person on this planet that I loved and respected more than he. He spent his entire career in service, first with the Navy (30+ years if you count his reserve time), then as a cop (21 years) before finishing his career with US Customs (16 years). He was also a big fan of these older country music artists from the 50s, 60s and 70s... which included Conway Twitty. As far as some of these OG country artists go, check out artists like Buck Owens, "Gentleman" Jim Reeves, The Statler Brothers, Roger Miller, Roy Acuff, Gene Autry, or Sons of the Pioneers.
Dude, this is my first time hearing this song. Wow. . . I'm stunned. I'm incredibly fortunate to still have both my parents, bit they are getting older and the thought of losing either of them scares me. I lived with then until last year when I was 26. I know that's a long time, but I have such an incredible relationship with them. I was paying rent since I graduated college at 22. But the rent was significantly less than an apartment in the denver area. It allowed me to save enough money to purchase my first place. I'm only about 15 minutes from them. My parents are my best friends. My dad is the hardest working man I've ever known. He worked 3 jobs most of the time I was growing up. But he always had time for me. One of his jobs was doing yard work and I would often go out with him to help. He sacrificed so much for us without ever complaining. In February I got a call from him in the back of an ambulance on his way to the hospital. He had rolled his car on his way into work at 3am. He needed me to go get my mom and bring her to the hospital. I was in a panic. He could talk much because he needed to call mom. I made it to my parents house in 6 minutes! Thankfully he was OK. Bruses and a concussion, but nothing to severe. But it scared me senseless. I don't want to think about losing either of them. Great song.
Conway hit the scene in the fifties with his rock hit….Only Make Believe! His vocals made him an instant loved artist and hit maker. An OG! Throughout his solo and music collaborations; Conway never recorded a bad song. He brought soul to Country music.
Conway was great , his song lay you Down is a great song . Another OG and a great Guitar player is Glenn Campbell, singing Galveston, with Steve Wariner on back up Guitar.
Absolutely yes to the OG Friday!!! Conway Twitty (the original OG smooth talker) - “Tight Fitting Jeans” “Slow Hand” & duet with Loretta Lynn - “You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly”. Now you’re seeing why people who are fans of old OG country think that most of the artist today aren’t true country. The OGs could captivate you with their voice alone, without all the flashy extras. And prayers for your father Keith, I just lost my Dad to Cancer.

My favorite is "You've never been this far before". The duets with Loretta Lynn are fantastic. They had fun singing together. "Louisiana Woman Mississippi Man"
"Lead me on"
"After the fire is gone"
"Feelins"
"I can't love you enough"
"7 til 10"
"Lovin' what you're lovin' does to me"
"You know just what l'd do"
"I still believe in waltzes"
"As soon as l hang up the phone"
"The Letter"
Funny songs by them are;
"You're the reason our kids are ugly"
"I don't like spiders & snakes"
Conway & Loretta were the best of friends.
When you lose a parent this song will hit you differently
Anytime my mom heres this she cries, but also love this song
I haven't lost a parent yet and this song makes me cry thinking about it 🥺
Lost my dad 7 years ago 💔
Amazing song
Conway Twitty
Country-music star Harold Lloyd Jenkins was offered a contract to play for the Philadelphia Phillies before getting drafted into World War II.
My father died suddenly many years ago Dec. 21, woke up Dec. 25 preparing to go to Mom's and this came on the radio.

So sorry to hear about your dad Keith. You and your family are in my prayers. 🙏
Thank you
I'm going to cry
OG Fridays.Hell yeah
Keith I am sorry to hear about your dad. Songs like this one definitely hit you in the feels.
Conway Twitty is definitely country OG with 55 number 1 singles and one even being banned from a lot of country radio stations. That song was "You've never been this far before".
I think I know why “You’ve never been this far before” was banned. 😂😂😂 romance king at his finest.
@@tfkrockhard so true lol 😂 I am actually surprised he didn't have others like "Slow hand" and "I'd love to lay you down".
Votes added for these, ya'll aren't trying to make Keith and I uncomfortable are ya?? You know there is a good chance we'll ruin a romance tune :) -Dustin
@@BourbonCountryReacts lmao it will be great!
We thrive off of people being uncomfortable. xD
I’m praying for you and your Daddy. Daddy’s are special!
It's only make believe...... Most people won't vote for it but it's his best vocal performance. Hello darling is probably his most popular
We now have 17 votes for hello darlin' and 9 for its only make believe -Dustin
He did multiple songs with Loretta Lynn. My favorites are Louisiana woman, Mississippi man and Country Bumpkin.

On the ride home from the hospital after my Dad was pronounced dead, this song played, and I lost it. Anything Dad related.. gets me everytime. That is the sign of a great Daddy. !! Thanks for checking Conway out.. love this era of music.
We enjoyed the song too. - Keith

Don Williams is another OG - I believe in you, Some Broken hearts never mend, Amanda, Tulsa Time, Good ole boys like me
Added these to the list -Dustin
That is a neat idea, bribes seem to be working out, and votes are tough to keep up with but I'm doing my best. -Dustin
@@BourbonCountryReacts Not doing bad with it either. 😁
Conway started out as a rock singer And was talked into being a country singer
A great Conway song is Slow Hand❤❤
Conway is the ultimate. Straight up. He's right up there next to Elvis, even used to sing almost identical to him. Multiple genres, 50 number ones, has so many hits that it's just crazy.
Hugs! Keith!! Another great song about fathers is My Old Man by Zac Brown Band
Thanks

Check out a couple of 'sexy songs' of his, like 'I'd love to lay you down' or 'I can tell you've never been this far before'. 'It's only make believe' is probably his biggest hit. 'Hello Darlin' is another goodie.
I didn't see a recommendation for this, but he had a #1 hit with "The Games That Daddies Play" that is a good one.
I highly recommend these songs from Conway!

Where's the reaction to Gary Allan's "Tough Little Boys"? You've got me very curious about your reaction to that one!
Stay tuned. ;)
This was not an official video, someone made it. I agree, the song stands strong alone, no need for the military placements.
I agree lol the only logical reason I see is maybe the video creator lost their father in service but im just guessing
Yes! Once a week OG day.
"Dad's Old Number" by Cole Swindell gets me every time.
Gary Allen wrote a few songs after his wife committed suicide in their home that are very beautiful and meaningful to those who have lost someone "Best I Ever Had" and "Life Ain't Always Beautiful"
Life Ain't Always Beautiful is a good one
There is a song that Alan Jackson sang that perfectly fits where you guys are with your expanded musical horizon today and aptly called 'Gone Country'.
Conway Twitty: Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man (with Loretta Lynn), Hello Darlin, Tight Fittin' Jeans
Sorry for your loss and a Huge THANK YOU to him for his service. God Bless your family!
I'm very sorry about your loss. I am praying for you.
@@amandapatch7496 Thank you!
@@truckermike1997 Thank you! I only mentioned his service because of them saying how the military images in the video are out of place.
Sorry for your loss Justin
Great song.
I don’t know if I recommended it here or another channel, but Dang Me by Roger Miller is good

Hello Darlin’ is a great one by Conway. My Mom loved Conway and loved when my Dad sang Hello Darlin’.
Conway hit the scene in the fifties with his rock hit….Only Make Believe! His vocals made him an instant loved artist and hit maker. An OG! Throughout his solo and music collaborations; Conway never recorded a bad song. He brought soul to Country music.
