Honestly, for years, I have "known" what this song was about, a person struggling and ultimately going through with suicide. But I absolutely LOVE your take on it being a villain origin story. It changes everything. If you ever watched Metallica live, James used to say this song means whatever you want it to mean to you. You guys bring such different perspectives that open my mind to so many more narratives! Thank you so much! Great job, guys.

This song has - according to people's accounts - saved many many lives, because people who felt on the edge of doing that thing suddenly felt that they weren't alone in feeling the way they did. James Hetfield has battled depression all his life himself, and he has learned to not hide it. This has helped so many people as well, who felt this way as well but found comfort in not being alone. Remember Anger is a better feeling than Depression, and Forgiveness is a greater feeling than Anger. Learn the scale of emotion from the most negative to the most positive, and navigate that.
Plus it's just a really great song!

@locustkllr While Moscow was a fantastic performance, for a 1st time video from there I'd say "Enter Sandman" as it's got a slow build up to work up the crowd until they really get into the song.
But for "Creeping Death", Seattle '89 is the only way to go! Super high energy, the group is faster, tighter and the audience chanting goes on a lot longer than in Moscow. Seattle is just a better performance for that song... in my opinion... and that of my metalhead friends. We all saw them on that tour in '89, not in Seattle but in Minneapolis.🤘😆🤘

Love watching the younger generations discovering the classic masters from the past. It's almost like experiencing the music and joy from our first time hearing these classics. I'm going to recommend Disposable Heroes, the first song I ever heard by Metallica. Blew me away and made me a fan for life instantly.
Also, you really can't go wrong with anything off of their first five, yes FIVE albums. After that, they kind of morph a little too much for many but the last three albums have been received well by most of their fans. They still play live and have many vids on their channel, btw. Good luck and enjoy your journey, here for it with a sub. 🤘🤘

Right before they wrote this song, the band had had all their equipment stolen.
Among the items stolen was an amp, that lead singer Hames Hatfield had received from him mother, for his 16th birthday, a few months before she passed away.
His mother had cancer. And her church would not allow her to get chemo or radiation treatment or anything. So she was forced to take one for the team, and let the cancer kill her.

One complaint: You guys (studio techs/engineers) need to match the volume of your mic's and the playback of the songs! The music playback is faaaar more muted than your voices and it gets rather jarring when we (your audience) turns up the volume because the music is too low and you guys are piercingly too loud! Otherwise, good stuff, and I love that you boys don't pause as much as most of these other podcast reactors and actually listen to the songs!

Nice reaction. Waiting to see Falling in Reverse rabbit hole reactions. But do them in order. Do Metallica reactions to One, Unforgiven, and Moscow live show if you already haven’t.

Traditional rock and metal have moved to Japan, being written and played by all female bands. Suggestions:
BAND-MAID: Hard rock. Video- ‘Hate,’ live from Yokohama Arena.
    Lovebites: metal/speed metal
Video: ‘Swan Song w/ Chopin into’, live.
Be prepared. When people find out you’re watching
BAND-MAID your channel will blow up fast.

This song played in my car when my first love dumped me. Dark rainy road. 1986. Almost drove my car into the river. 😂😢😂😂😂. Also payed some DIO. So depressing. 😂

Why aren’t people sampling this? Because it could get expensive. Metallica fought against the digital downloads because of money. They just recently started to allow marching bands to rearrange and perform their music.

James wrote this song after they did a show and all their stuff was stolen from their van and he was so upset that he didn’t know what to do anymore and just thought about giving up Metallica and life in general
