This is BY FAR the best muscle up tutorial that I've seen on the internet. I've been doing weighted pull ups with 15% of my body weight since a couple of weeks now and can do explosive pull ups too. However, I still wasn't able to do a muscle up, which for me is the coolest exercise out there and has been my goal. Will try to apply the cues you gave in this video. Thanks, man. Cheers!
Bro this is great advice. I've watched so many muscle up videos, but the way you explain and demonstrate it makes more sense. The part about the little swing and pulling your body around the bar just clicked the way you explained and showed it. Thanks for posting!
Nice to see a tall guy doing calisthenics. I weigh 80kg and just recently mastered the frog pose. Your videos are really helpful bro. I cant do pullups yet but I'm working on it
As someone who’s taking small steps each day to progress towards muscle ups and more strength, this is a really great video. Probably one of the best ones out there, tells everything you need to know and the core part too which most videos skip. Thanks a lot bro. I hope you keep progressing and unlock new feats and share with us. Good luck 🤞😉
I’ve never been more motivated and inspired by anyone on youtube other than you man. Working on my discipline too, and I’ve been working out and on a caloric surplus to bulk up a bit. Wish me luck
I LOVE your channel dude, fr. You've helped me so much since October in my calisthenics journey. I've lost 30 lbs and am looking noticeably strong, and a great part of it, I've just realized, is due to how naturally you add variations and weaker progressions to your videos. It makes it all so intuitive for me. Thank you
dunno why the smith machine/squat rack idea for bar dips never occurred to me before seeing this vid, makes total sense and will definitely be added to my routine. thanks so much for the great content!
Thank you for this informative guide!! You have broken down the muscle-up into such good steps that it motivates me to keep pushing and makes me eager for my next session. Keep at it!

excellent video Colin. Thank you for taking the time to show us how you met this challange - something many of us want to do, but have not yet mastered.
this is epic video brother. i been doing pullups for years. i always just did slow and controlled pullups with a pause and full range, with reps in the 10+ish range. once i syarted doing explosive high pullups for sets of 5 with weight... the muscle up came easy and fast.. within a month bro!!!! thank you so much for this video!!!!!!!
You are a gr8 teacher, thank you for sharing your struggle, your difficults... i thought it wouldnt help me doing negative m.u because i cant control, i just fall too quick.. but after watching this video i ll do this exercise again. I'm on weighted pullups e doing highest pullups as possible.m just completed 3 months, n can only do band assisted. I hope i get it soon, wont stop until i do it!
The cool thing about these videos is, when you start, with no one else helping, you understand nothing, then you come back ti the same video, a year later, after meeting people, after understanding the exercises, understanding the foundations, more informed the video starts to fill the missing pieces of a puzzle, thank for your content!
It's crazy how fast your channel grow. Simplicity is really the key I think. So easy to understand everting you show and implement my own routines. Keep up G
I decided today this will be my next goal. Ive been doing pullups for about 25 years lol. Not sets or anything crazy, just 10-100 pullups most days for 25 years. I can do about 22 dead hang pullups right now. I have not been able to ever muscle up.
For the love... please use the weight belt correctly. The way you've got it makes it likely to slide down your hips. Instead, put the belt on and bring the chain directly across your belly and through the loop on the other side of the belt, then go down through the weights, and back up to the starting side of the chain. The chain forms a full triangle, not a "V". Great video, though.
Great video, I've started my jurney trying to get at least 1 muscle up... kkkk... A lot what you said, I'd been through... kkkkk... But it's been really fun and this is the first calisthenic movement in addition to push-ups, chin ups, dips and etc.
Thanks so much for this! ATM i can do about 12 reps of pull ups and ~30 dips in a single set but muscle ups have always been tough for me so gonna try your tips. Also you motivated me to go to a set of pull ups while watching this video. Def going to try the explosive pull ups and negative muscle ups in addition to the other things :)
Jan, 2024. Great video for learning muscle ups. And your video made me LOL. "Dorito shaped back" and getting mur.... in your sleep were too hilarious. I am definitely going to the gym and getting started on all the basic exercises that you show in your video.
This is great! I follow your hybrid training guide but the calisthenics exercises there are really hard for somebody who hasn't done it before. I'd love to see more videos of the progressions or what you did to get good with the lever, planche, headstand, etc. Thank you!

I love that "if you're not spazzing out, you're not trying hard enough" rule. That's my new rule.
Training to muscle failure or close to it is probably the most important rule of all, proper rest being the close second.
I follow that rule outside the gym.
