Huge fan of your channel. You both partner well. I appreciated this video. I'm a casual rider, I don't race and I don't do group rides. I ride for fitness and leisure. I was a recent owner of a Trek Domane SLR 6 Gen 4. It rode well, comfortable, flashy looking (red and blue fade with yellow accents colorway). It had the Shimano 105 Di2 groupset. But back to the ride...it's an endurance bike and was very comfortable, agile, easy to control, and fast when you put power down. But you had to work harder on climbs, even the smallest ones. I'm a fit guy, too, but some of the climbs were rough. The Domane is a tad heavy also. Turns out, the feedback on the Domane SL and SLR 6 Gen 4s was true, that they all have problems with the Isospeed system. Mine was cracked, and it was causing a popping or clicking noise on the seat and seat post. The seat was bending too far forward and backward, too. My LBS had to warranty the frame. I opted to get the Domane SLR 7 Gen 4 instead. But as I was waiting for the new bike to arrive, I came across the Madone SL and SLR 7 Gen 8s. I got to test ride both versions. I was instantly hooked. It did everything my Domane could do, but faster. It was also very comfortable. I fell in love with it. I changed my order from the Domane to the new Madone SLR 7 Gen 8 (Team Replica colorway). It will be built and read for pick up today. I can't wait. I also changed the tires from 28mm to 32mm to get more comfort. I'm excited to start riding again. You can't go wrong with either bike. But the price difference between a Domane SLR 7 Gen 4 and new Madone SLR 7 Gen 8 is only $500. And with the Madone you get a faster bike that's just as comfortable. Oh, forgot to mention, I did try out the regular Madone SL version and the SLR rides better in every way; it's not just the upgraded carbon. If you have the funds, invest in your fitness and pick up either of these bikes. Thanks for the video!

I had a Domane SL5 gen 4, upgraded to Ultegra 8100 with Hunt Aero 50 carbon wheels, but had a big accident (broken collarbone, give ribs and collapsed lung) in May. With the insurance money and a 20% discount from Trek for the crash, I bought a Gen 8 Madone SL6 and upgraded it with my Ultegra groupset (sold the 105 Di2 to the LBS owner for his own new bike) and put Aeolus Pro 51 wheels on it.
I am 57, but felt a bit high on the Domane. I have the front end 15mm lower on the Madone and I love it. I’m very comfortable and five months after the accident, I’m starting to be faster than before.
My complaint about the SL5 version of both is that the stock wheels are very heavy.

We certainly appreciate you watching and taking the time to share with us and our views. It means a lot when people do. And yes, the stock rims are definitely heavy.

The 2023 Trek Domane Sl5 Gen 4 was on sale for $2000 at my local store. Most comfortable bike and my bike of choice for century rides. I have the Aeolus pro 49v for road and the stock wheelset with 38mm tires for gravel rides.

Comfort should be the ONLY choice for anyone outside of competitive racing. Some people can ride race bikes and feel comfortable but for the majority of everyone else a higher stack and shorter reach is always going to be better.
In normal circumstances race bikes for racing and endurance bikes for majority of casual riders.

Your reasoning and rationale are sound my friend. I would prefer the relaxed geometry of an endurance frame for longer rides over the aggressive geometry of a race bike. And yes, for most riders, I would recommend the endurance geometry. Thank you for taking the time to watch and add to the conversation. Both are appreciated.

Domane aluminum is the best bang for your buck. I was looking at both in carbon and chose the al4. Much better bike for the value

Great question, and thank you for asking. No, the Madonna is a 54, and the Domane is a 56. Sorry for the delayed response, my friend, but we do appreciate you watching.
