    Thank you for the review. One thing I feel you and most other reviewers might be overlooking is the bike's subtle appeal and capabilities for someone who already owns decent bikes but is looking for something a bit more casual for relaxed trips into town. It's a bike you can leave in a bike rack (strapped and locked, of course) without too much concern. I understand it's an entry-level model, and most people are probably assessing it from that perspective. However, I'm seriously considering getting one myself-they're now available for under £600 here in the UK. While there are cheaper options available from supermarkets, this one feels a bit more special. I noticed someone in the comments mentioning the Giant Contend, which I think is another good alternative, similarly priced these days and sharing that same subtle charm.

      My friend, thank you so much for watching and contributing to the conversation. You are absolutely correct that we overlooked that subtle yet important detail. Has anyone gotten a Gen 4 Top Fuel (carbon frame) down to 25-26 lbs with light wheels, etc? I love my Gen 6 Fuel EX. I'm looking at getting back into XC/Marathon racing and would like to stay with the Trek brand (the last time I raced was a 26-inch Top Fuel btw, that's how long its been). But the Supercaliber seems like it would be too harsh on central Texas XC courses. Top Fuel Gen 4 looks good but only if I could get it down to 25-26 lbs (since many folks are racing on 24-25 lb bikes).

    • @GetOutArizona
      @GetOutArizona 2 дня назад

      This is a great question, my friend, and hopefully, others will chime in. If you were to replace the rim set and replace other components with lightweight carbon fiber or titanium, yes, I do believe you would reach your goal of a sub 24 lbs TopFuel.

    Went to shop today & cannot make up my mind between Roscoe 7 vs Marlin 7 Gen 2 both in XS frame. Loved the Roscoe 7 weight & maneuverability & nimbleness. Gonna upgrade the tires to Marlin 7 to tubeless but still now sure which to get. Doing trails with lots of roots etc. just concern about when I straddle the Roscoe my crotch is right at it but with Marlin 7 gen 2 I have a slight clearance flat foot with shoes. What to do? Any advice for this older woman getting back into mountain bike after 15 years. I used to have a Specialized Stump Jumper Comp from 1999.

    • @GetOutArizona
      @GetOutArizona 2 дня назад

      This is a great question, Lisa, and I appreciate you asking. The Roscoe is a great bike with a ridiculous amount of potential, and I would be inclined to recommend it over the Marlin. However, ergonomics and fit are very important, and clearance is always a good thing. So, if you were to come into the shop, the real question I would ask you is which bike you feel better on? That being said, I restored an old Stumpjumper, turned it into a gravel bike/canal cruiser, and when I dismount, I have zero room to give. I've never had an issue, though. I hope this answer is helpful for you, Lisa. Thanks again for watching, and keep us posted on what you end up going with.

      Thanks for watching Paul and asking your question. I am sorry for the delayed response. I would ride that Salsa like I stole it on any trail in the state. Hi Guys, Feel like I am already deep in the Rabbit Hole of Bottom Brackets. I am trying to work out what type of BB I have on a Trek Marlin 5 2017 (NZ). According to Trek website it is a VP - BC73 threaded cartridge. So damn confusing all these different standards. Ok so BC would be British Cycle (according to Park Tools website), 73 is length in mm. The only thing I cant work out is what the VP stands for and does the 24T refer to threads per inch on the cartridge? in New Zealand we use metric. Converting my bike to a mid drive E-Bike Bfang BBS02, just trying to work out if I will need spacers and maybe a offset chainring. Thanks for your help and vid was really helpful.

    • @GetOutArizona
      @GetOutArizona 11 дней назад

      We appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave your feedback. Yes, this is threads per inch; if I remember correctly, it should be 1.37 x 24 threads per inch. I would have spacers on hand, just in case you need them. There's nothing worse than being deep into a project and realizing you don't have what you need to complete it. I hope this answer is helpful for you. Keep us posted on mid drive conversion.
