This is the first time I've yelled out, "WHOAAA!!" and cackled while watching one of your videos. That moment when you get to Le Puy and just blast us with those mind-blowing drone shots?? Amazing!! My roommate came running in to see what was going on I screamed so loud, LOL. Unbelievable footage. You are the maestro of all Camino vloggers. These aren't even vlogs, really. They're like chapters of a full length feature film! Your score is perfect, your narration is perfect, the editing is flawless, and the content hands down the BEST I have ever seen from anywhere or anyone. You work so hard for us. Thank you, amigo!
Hi Efrén, what a good idea to have walked via Podiensis. I am from Paris and will enjoy your videos a lot ! So looking forward to watching it. You cannot imagine how happy your videos make me. Thanks a lot 🙏
Hello Efren, I can only recommend the path in front of Via Podiensis! You start in Cologne at the largest and 850 year old cathedral! There are the three holy kings! You then make a pilgrimage almost alone over the low mountain range of the Eifel to Trier! Via Romanesque streets you get to the oldest city in Germany ... it's all beautiful! then it continues via Luxembourg to Metz in France and then to the starting point of Via Podiensis in Le Puy en Velay. Think about it, you will not regret it and have a wonderful experience! Good way, your Marcel!
You say: “Tomorrow, in for a treat?” This was a treat. As usual, your drone shots and narration take us there. I can’t believe you climbed in up all those stairs to the old church. Thanks for taking us along!
This is one of your best vlogs yet. I didn't want it to end! Luckily it's a one month Camino. I really enjoyed that you spent time exploring the cities.
Needless to say how wonderful your footage is, taking us to see such spectacular places wherever you go. They are truly motivational, making us want to grab our backpacks and leave. You're the toughest walker I know.Congrats
Watched your Camino Portuguese inspired me booked my trip this fall, and can’t wait to watch your serial of this journey and will follow your steps next year for this journey! Thank you so much for your inspiration and great job! And the best videos you made!
Your vlog has just taken me back to our 2017 trip. Such wonderful memories ! I especially have enjoyed you slowing it down a bit and lingering in these beautiful towns /cities. Your drone footage is magnificent ! Am looking forward to following your walk.

Nice one Efren , always been curious about the Le Puy Camino, great introduction video and I'll be looking forward to watching your progress . Buen Camino
I am happily following. For 2022, I am still undecided as to the Le Puy or the Via Francigena (Italian section). Thank you for taking us along. I am always in awe of your vlogging talent.
Hi Efren, what amazing videos you do. I did the Camino Frances in 2019. Am off to do San Salvador & Primitivo in September 2022. This will be 2023’s Camino. Keep up the amazing work 👍👍👍
Really enjoying your Podiensis series. I have a keen interest in drones and, without doubt, your drone videography is a standout against many other creators I watch. I know it's not your 'thing', but I would dearly love to see you one day develop a drone series that explores how you employ this 'camera' to capture the scenes we see. I can but hope such a series will one day compliment your playlists! With your on-camera style...I think you would do well with drone enthusiasts while expanding your subscriber profile. Thanks again for a great series!!
Efrén, once again Magical man! I’d seen you leave Miami before, but this footage of of Leon & Le Puy with your editing between vlogging and Drone footage is awesome! The 3rd dimension really does give such an overview of the area! ¡Buen Camino y Salud! 👣👍🍷😎
I did this last June and spent about five days in Lyon. It is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. And if you didn't have Lyonnaise potatoes you gotta go back. The walk from Le Puy is nice but I found, unlike the caminos Frances and Portugues, that there were only French hikers on it, and while I can do the basics in French, I can't have extended conversations (and unlike other Europeans the French generally don't speak English that well or that willingly...lol And they don't speak Spanish, Portuguese or German either). I'd recommend this for those who are at ease in French conversation.
true but I'm sure there were fewer foreigners due to the pandemic. I did come across a few English speakers and as I got loser to the border many more spoke Spanish. google translate is definitely your friend out there. I'll give the Lyonnaise potatoes when I had back this summer for the tour du mont blanc.
I can't believe how wonderful this was, not how far behind I am in keeping up! Wow! Now I'm wondering whether you climbed the hill with the Madonna and on up inside of that statue! Can't wait to find out. As always, I loved it, Efren!
What a wonderful vlog this is. I have watched you do GR65 already. I am looking forward to the stages to Logrono from P la R. This is one of your best. I live in London and have always desired Lyon (the French Donostia). Now, Le Puy is on my bucket list. Thanks so much. Bien Camino.
Hmm! I don't know what to think. I was going to do the Via Podiensis in 2020 (10 years after doing the camino Frances) but cancelled because of Covid. I thought it wasn't a good idea to travel. After seeing your video, I see that people are doing the camino nonetheless. I'm going to wait until 2022 or 2023 to see how things are before embarking on this chemin. I will fly to Paris from Montreal since I have a friend there, spend 5 days visiting and getting over the jetlag, then take a train to Lyon, stay for 3 days, then train to Le Puy en Valey. I will go to St Jean Pied de Port, then take a train to Biarritz, then Irun to continue with the camino Norte to Santiago. Thanks for info regarding Lyon Campanile Hotel and the Monastery in Le Puy. Your video was inspiring. I was a bit envious as well since I am itching to go. I won't have a problem with language in France since French is my second language.
Thanks for the video series; the travel info is very helpful. Plus, the drone footage of Lyon and Le Puy is outstanding. Looking forward to the rest in the series as they become available. Question: Which stabilizer are you using for your phone?
Good morning Efren and Happy New Year. I just love all your videos. My husband and I have followed you for many years now .... our saviour during COVID when we couldn't travel to walk in France. We are planning to walk the Via Podiensis in March this year. I have noted in your videos that you carry an Umbrella ...which we are planning to do also. Can you tell me what brand it is and where you purchased it. I am having a lot of trouble finding an umbrella with a long shaft. And that is lightweight and reflective. I hope that you can help me with some information. Buen Camino
Hi Efren, I have been watching all your videos from Via Podienses and I have been liking them a lot. Fun and extremely well done, they are being a great help for me and my wife, because we will start the via Podienses in Le Puy en Velay next week, in 7 days, and all the informations in your videos are amazing. Thank you. But I am curious: what GPS equipment do you use to track so well your travels. Claudio from Brazil.
Thank you so much, Claudio. I'm so glad you found them fun and helpful. I used my phone to track my walk. I then traced them at home using google earth pro. Buen camino.
@@Walk_with_Efren Cool! We already travelled El Camino Francês in 2019, but my brother in law will start it in may, exactly when we wiil arrive in SJPP. We will then go to Rocesvalles together. There, will finish our Camino and he will go on to Santiago de Compostela. I already told him to follow you in both the Camino by foot and by bike. Keep on the good work! À bientôt. Claudio
Muchas gracias Eleonor. Si por primera ves utilize el servicio de transporte de maletas. La Malle Postale de Le Puy a Moissac y Transport Claudine hasta Roncesvalles.
Well done guy. You will surely change your bad impression of France. The structure is a lot better because the french people love their "randos" and many gîtes have a good structure, including a well-equipped kitchen (because they love cooking, but that might not be your case 🤭). Just don't expect a washing machine, you'll have to hand wash and let it dry as usual. Take advantage of your stay in Le Puy-en-Velay and see the other GR that starts there: GR 70 - Chemin de Stevenson. Going westwards you do le Chemin de ST Jacques and southwards, le Chemin de Stevenson. (no more than 11 days of walking)
I started my Le Puy walk about two weeks after Efren and I found washing machines in about a third of the places I stayed, which was nice because by the time I got to my gite and showered there wasn't much sun outside to dry my clothes and the dryers were very handy.
Love this Vlog..so well done!..inspired me to walk the Via Podeinsis next year!. Question tho, I see you dropped the CrazyCap for the Katadyn BeFree 1.0L,. Can you elaborate ? Just trying to gear myself up . Thanks and Walk on!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video, and it inspired you to walk the gr 65. I switch back and forth between the Katadyne be free, and the crazy cap depending on the trip.if I need to save a few ounces, the water has sediment, or I have limited access to electricity than I go for the be free.
What a wonderful start! You should have splurged on a proper meal in Lyons, though. It's one of the greatest cities on the planet for food. 🤠And - gasp! - you left your trademark hat at home! How will people recognize you? [Also I think you should remind people to "like" your vids. It's criminal how many people watch & run without clicking that thumb, but most viewers really do just need a gentle reminder & it will make YT's algorithm boost exposure to your channel.]
My husband got me S21 5G for my 50th birthday... I love it! I have a question about the Drone. I think you have DJI, right? I'm thinking about buying a DJI Mini SE... Yay or Nay? I don't think I need anything bigger or expensive but I'm concern about the quality. Thanks Have a safe and wonderful trip wherever you are right now. :)
Efren, after looking at many RUclips videos on the Via Podiensis, we were so so appreciative of yours. We are considering a similar trip, and at 76 years old, we are nervous about our capabilities Your videos are wonderful in so many ways. One thing we would like to ask you to do: get over your fear of mispronouncing the place names. Why? Because we need to know where you are so we can decide whether to hike that day or bus that day. Your google translator is funny but not useful. Please be more explicit.
