First, this coming episode is the last time jump, Daemon and Rhaenyra's children are already born, they already released the pictures.
Second, the one bedridden is Viserys with Rhaenyra in his bedroom.
😳 someone help me understand why was Aegon taller when they were younger (it made me assume he was older?) But in this new preview Aemond looks much older and Aegon barely a teen!

I feel, in all honesty, Viserys should’ve stepped down or abdicated to let Rhae begin ruling while he was still alive, to assure that chaos didn’t happen immediately after like it does when he dies. At the very least, he should’ve had Rhae speaking for him and let her take a more active role as leader, not Otto. That just boosts his ego even more.

Reminds me of how in death note Kira #3 took the fake death note to kill near and the FBI agents, instead when he could of ripped a page from the real death note like light (who kept his in a watch though).
This would’ve ensured that light won.
I'm surprised Viserys didn't just make Rhaenyra Hand of the King once Strong was dead. It would have prepared her to lead and made the transition much smoother. It also would have reduced Alicent's ability to engage in a coup with the other prospective heirs.
viserys only wants to hear and believe what he wants. didnt even analyze the conflicts in his family and the crown after the incidents with the kids. this why effective leaders are to be some kindof sociopaths

He has been making poor decisions one after the next
If Rhaenyra had been there, she might have advocated for that. But, in a case of very bad timing, she had already moved her family out of King’s Landing and to Dragonstone when the Strongs were killed. So, there was only Alicent with Viserys who was, no doubt, pressuring him to re-appoint her father.

"His body (along with Vhagar's skull) was recovered years later, with Dark Sister still through his eye-socket.[8][10]" Heh. Caraxes actually survived the fall and made it to the shore, but died there soon later. Heres the best part, "The bodies of Aemond and Vhagar were discovered in the lake years later. Daemon's body was not found, but historians are convinced he died there as well.[8]" So, i guarentee you Daemon doesnt die at the end of this. He might, but it seems like the show is telling us details the book doesnt. Like Rhea royces true death.

I too am more of a Daemon fan than Aemond, but I have to admit he’s growing on me a little bit based on the actor’s performance(s).
I’m pretty sure Daemon will be allowed to scamper off after the big fight. Maybe they make a spin off of his non-recorded antics. (Or, maybe he is truly dead :()
There’s been some interesting stories/theories surrounding Alyn and Addam Velaryon. It ties in with the fact that Qarl AND Laenor got away in that dinghy. From what I remember Qarl was a renowned swordsman and I think Laenor Velaryon was as well.
Oh well, fingers crossed for good storytelling.
(Doing my best to limit spoilers).
Note that when Vaemond Velaryon marches through the gates, the two soldiers in front of him have Hightower sigils on their armor. It seems like Vaemond might be working with Otto to try and get himself declared Lord of Driftmark if Corlys dies - obviously Otto is thrilled to go along with that, since it would effectively flip the most powerful house supporting Rhaenrya to the Green side.
Doubt corlys dies. He's a prisoner by the time the hour of the wolf comes around
He's going to be a trader I believe.

I'd say that Viserys absolutely need to set some ground rules in events like thesethat will come.
But I think the biggest poision in here are Alicent vs Rhaenyra hatered... Two snakes.
I wonder if Viserys never named Rheanyra as an hair if it would change anything.
I mean we can be sure if he didnt impregnant Alicent it would be different story for sure.
But because he is not curel as a king, i think that he knows he cannot punish one side without the other, and he just wants for everyone to love eachother, so thus he really is a great man with a great heart for his family, and it's really a boomer to see all of that evaporate.
But as a King if had a strong hand to rule or stomach per say, he would have to punish literally everyone and be mroe or less a tyrant to them and less like father figure.
So ya, it's realll reaallly hard to rule around people you love and put punishments on them if you know what i mean, if Viserys was like Dany in the last season were just literally lost almost everyone, he would go full on with the ruling or sth like Cersei, she didnt care for anyone more than her offspring and brother. Viserys in contrast cares for everyone he has bond with to some degree. He's more a friend to them than a king I'd say. Which is bad unfortunately, it's just that he is or was surrounded by bunch of morons who couldnt see his vision, and everyone would care great deal to have such king back, because after he's gone nothing will be as peaceful as it was before.
He was mostly a good king throughout his reign. During his reign Targaryen reached peak power, population was happy and there were a lot of dragons to show power. He failed miserably at the end though.

@@sonofnikator4819 I mean i dont think he personally failed. On the outside, yes. but on the inside there were the closest people that fucked him up, so what can he do at that point, specially since he was not at his peak anymore, and each day worse. He tried, everyone else did not.
Aemond and Daemon remind me so much of each other. Both born with a fierceness, and almost merciless nature, but deep down still cares about their loved ones, in their own ways tho. Both extremely skilled fighters and not afraid to go rogue😈

You are literally blinded by bias and fondness for incest if you think Greens are pure evil and Blacks are Gandhi's and Mandela's. Like the show and whole book was literally created to tell that there was no wrong or right side, and both sides were equally responsible for their downfall with as much complexities and moral ambiguousness, not for teenagers these days to easily pick a black and white side and ship their favorite uncle and niece in this fantasy world.

Visery’ s daughter was not, in fact, ready to be Hand of the King. The smart move King Should have done is in fact call all his daughter family back to King’s Landing and nominated his daughter’s husband Prince Daemon as Hand of the King. His brother Daemon would have reduced the Greens power considerably!
He should have named Prince Daemon and his wife joint heirs for the Iron Throne. Thus protecting all of his family.
Daemon would have annihilated the Hightowers.

I REALLY enjoyed watching Aemond take Vhagar. Was cool that they showed how difficult it is riding a behemoth like that, even just shaking herself off almost killed Aemond. More scenes like that!

@@aap9167 Actually co show runner / executive producer Miguel Sapochnik has spoken at length about how on both sides Alicent & Rhaenyra bitterness shape/poison/perpetuate their children propelling the civil war.

Definitely like the look of Aemond here. I noticed if you put a picture up of young Aemond next to 17-19 year old Aemond, they have the same chin/lip structure. Not sure if the casting crew intended that, but it's a nice show of continuity. All in all, this work of art just keeps getting better and better. So exciting along with the news we're getting Aegon's conquest plus more anthology series within house Targaryen. Going to be a nice long ride of fire and blood.

I really don't understand why lucerys and his brother haven't been training everyday. If I was them I would be busting my ass on my dragon and my sword hopefully we get that coming I mean if anything I would have Daemon teaching everything he knows he is one of the best fighters in the realm
It’s partly the product of how so far professional asshole Cristen Cole has been purposely under training them for years while mainly focusing in Aegon and Aemond. Though it would be cool if Daemon mustered enough discipline together to make sure Lucerys and Jacaerys don’t get mercilessly killed in battle by their creepy teenage uncle.
Jace will become a Key Piece to Rhaenyras Black Council so he does step up in some aspects, it's hard when all the dragons that Daemon & Rahenyras childreh ride, pale in size comparison to Alicents children & their Dragons. Here's hoping the show can give us more of the kids & their skills.

It feels like a missed opportunity, Rhaenyra not pinning Laenor’s death on Alicent. They could say that after the funeral( Aemond losing his eye) Alicent decided that the best way to get revenge would be to kill Laenor.

Move, but he isn’t dead technically you see him and his friend rowing after cutting his hair off at the end of episode 7. In the book he is actually killed though.

I mean, maybe. But I don't know if people would buy it when that is rather acting against Alicent's own interests. Why would she kill the strongest witness of Rhaenera's childrens bastardy. She was heard asking for him, wanting him to come to the room to be questioned about it. It would be much more convenient for the blacks if he died, and a setback for the greens, who now will never be able to prove that the children are bastards (except to somehow get Rhaenyra to confess).
Loving the series so far, my only thing is Viserys not teaching/setting up Rhaenyra. He names her heir, actively knows half his family is trying to take the throne. Yet he does nothing? Seems like he wants a war.
I thought Vis was a kind fair king for the first few episodes. But he is fucking up.
He wanted to be a good peace time king, and neglected the huge rift in his family

I’d imagine setting her up with Rhaenys Targaryen (the aunt who had her crown taken by Viserys regardless of birth rite) would have served the kingdom well. Especially because she’s married to her son.
She’s been thinking about that throne her whole life - I’d think Aunt Rhaenys has a lot to teach Rhaenyra Targaryen.

Why didn't the king find another hand? Like a Stark. If he knew Otto could not be trusted why go back to him? It will make more sense to make his daughter the heir the hand. People will be upset but clearly, he didn't care when he made her heir.
Because he’s not tryna split the courts even more he clearly sees the tension between the family’s that’s why he tells them to make up instead of giving punishments , making rhaneyra hand will make her the first woman hand when people don’t even like her in the court with the rumors going around they don’t want a woman hand , and if he made her hand that would only make alicent and Otto more mad and he’s not trying to make them hate each other even more lmao viserys is obviously smarter than a lot of people in these comments , put Otto back as hand to try to reconcile the poor relationship that’s grown between their families , and on top of that Otto wasn’t wrong ? He got fired because he told viserys rhanerya was sleeping with daemon then then viserys confronted daemon after he fired Otto daemon definitely told him it was true and he wanted rhanerya for himself to be his queen so it’s not like Otto was wrong lmao as a matter of fact he couldn’t have been more right it’s not like he was actually lying to him and viserys saw that after the daemon incident.

Because alicent influenced the king to make Otto hand again, at this point in time viserys was pretty much a puppet king

Alicent lost a lot recently with her son's eye taken out. He had to make it up to her, or she'd become even more drastic than taking a knife to Rhae's throat in front of everyone. At least that's how I rationalise his choice. He's trying to put them on equal footing or something. Obviously it's not gonna work.
Because Viserys was weak AF. He was ready to look the other way and was ready to sweep all the fire under the rug. But, after a certain point, the rug caught fire.

The actor playing older Aegon IS older, he played Octavious in Domina a couple years ago. I think its the blond hair that makes him look young. Tho he looks nothing at all like Ty Tennant. So that's a wierd choice.

She said 'dragons of flesh, and dragon's of thread." Could also refer to the stitches (thread and needle) that Aemon needed for his eye, and Rhaenyra needed for her forearm. It shows the wounds that have started.

I think dragons of flesh means the kids with the white hair as they have it it their " flesh" and dragons of thread are the bastards as they are only considered because of the color of their clothes ( black color of the Targaryen house).

Can't the King order Rhae to sit on the throne in his absence instead of Hand of King? Also he could have gone ahead of Rhae's idea of getting her son and helena bethrothed. Could have eased some tension between the two families.
I think the problem is Rhae was not there to even suggest that having moved out of court for so long. The people around him have the advantage

For anyone interested House of the Dragon is based on a time in English History called 'The Anarchy' Pretty much a war about a woman inheriting the throne because the male heirs died. GoT was based on 'War of the roses'. As a history geek I think I know how it will end without actually referring GRM's books.

I cannot help but draw similarities with Helaena and the story Tyrion told about Orson Lannister and his obsession with beetles. I also think back to what the warlock said to Danerys about when her dragons were born so too was their magic. with all these dragons floating around I would expect there would be a lot more magic happening in HOTD, but so far not a lot. Larys and Helaena seem to be the only ones with possible "sight"

I cannot see any resemblance between the Aegon actors. Why does he look smaller/younger than the actor who portrayed him up until now? Very odd casting choice. Casual viewers will be very confused. If they at least gave him longer hair to keep a little resemblance.
He even looks shorter and his face is much too round.

Second, the one bedridden is Viserys with Rhaenyra in his bedroom.
Aemond almost looks like a younger version of Daemon. They look so similar! Leave Daemon and Aemond. I won't even be surprised if Matt Smith and Ewan Mitchell turn out to be related in real life lol.
Aemond's claiming of Vhagar was one of the greatest defeats of the Blacks. That event pretty much made the Greens a viable faction, even though the Blacks had more than three times the dragons they did. And that's not even counting that two of the green dragons were neutralized pretty early on in the war. If Rhaena had claimed Vhagar, the Dance would have gone very differently.

I hated the whole having Otto Hightower back as the hand of the king after he was dismissed for being way too personally ambitious with his role. I'm sure they could have found someone else other than him for hand of the king. But then it'd screw up the dramatic storyline somehow. *Sigh*
The new actor for Aegon II looks NOTHING like the last actor. The replacing actors has gotten so weird this season. They could've just made the first actor look older. BTW, Aegon II was only supposed to be 13-14 in the previous two episodes.

Her story is the most heartbreaking of all IMO
One thing I've been beginning to wonder about is if after The Dance the show will continue, literally the show could have ten seasons maybe even as many as supernatural. Simply because of the wealth of history to draw from. I know if they were going to do this then they should have started with Aegon's conquest but, I will say that Aegon's conquest would be a good show. I don't think Maegor's rule would be a good or even fun show to watch it would be like an entire season of watch a vicious, mad, cruel king. Unless they managed to work in a lot of stuff about Jaehaerys and his allies working to put him on the throne and overthrow Maegor, ultimately would be a disappointment given Maegor's death. I'm sure there is more too but also like the idea it could've been many things, but it is better as a mystery. The only close satisfying result I can see is Jaehaerys the great wise and noble king a good decent man doing something while dishonourable was necessary for Maegor's rule to be brought to an end. That being Jaehaerys having hired a Faceless Man to kill Maegor and cut his wrists using The Iron Throne forcing the Lords and common folk to believe that the throne judged Maegor unworthy.
But after the Dance, there's a ton of Targaryen history to see, for one I would love to see The Blackfyre rebellions told, but they'd have to skip like 90 or a hundred years and I desperately want to see the whole thing, from the first rebellion right up to The War of the Nine Penny Kings.
I really like Aegon and I hope we continue to see him struggle with the fact he doesn't want any of this. He doesn't want to be king. But I really wanna see more Helena in this next episode and her dreams, also how people treat her because they might treat her someone differently thinking she has some sort of mental disability.
The writers have talked about visiting different time periods after this one
Concludes. The name house of the dragon while it does center on fire and blood and the dance of dragons, the name house of the dragon is a broad name for house Targaryen. So that means they are planning to do more then this time period. I also want to see aegons conquest of the doom of Valyria
Hate the look of grown Aemond. He looks like he's in his 30s and I didn't even realize that was supposed to be Aegon by him because that guy looks 10-15 years younger. It's not just the height but the face (although it is neat that his facial structure is similar to uncle/half-brother-in-law, Daemon's)

I find it interesting that Haelana (hope I spelled it right. Bloody targ names) is in gold rather than black/reds or green. Gold is typically a royal colour, luxury, religious significance, success and wealth. I like the idea of her being totally unaffiliated and sorta beyond the conflict, and thus is more “prosperous”, maybe just in her scope of being one who sees prophecy and states it plainly, without interpreting it (as far as she’s had on screen time).
