- Here's a process of making a large oval pot for a bonsai tree or a forest. I am planning to plant a spruce forest in this pot in the spring.
The process was documented and shared with you so you can learn how to make it easily yourself. I used slab bottom and coiled the walls. The feet were made out of coils too. I used cone 6 black clays, PSH 401i and will likely leave it unglazed.

Cultivating bonsai trees is a wonderful way to enrich our lives, connect to nature and find joy and purpose. Bonsai teaches us about the rhythms of the seasons, how living organisms grow and react to their environment and has countless benefits for our mental health. Nowadays, more than ever, bonsai is an achievable hobby available to anyone who is willing to commit to learning and caring for a tree. Making a bonsai pot for our trees makes it a rewarding experience because not only we can design and choose the shape and size of the pot, but also we put our energy into creating a loving home for tree companions.

The tool! Great idea!
Never realized the time and labor it takes to make a handmade pot. Great video. Your husband adds the muscle. Cool.
Yes, it takes few days for me to make it usually, and than there's 2 firings and glazing. By the time it's finished it's long awaited for sure!

Can you move to the UK? 😂😂😂
Great work Izabela. ❤
Thank you! UK? You guys have a great climate for maples for sure
Wonderful work. I have one doubt: can we use a terracotta pot for planting without firing? I made one by myself but don't have access to a kiln. Can I use it for planting if I prime the air-dried terracotta pot with GESSO and paint some acrylic on it?
@HarusaiBonsai good question: what kind of clay did you use? If the clay is meant for firing- stoneware or earthenware, then I don't think it would hold itself even with acrylic paint because the water will seep into it and simply soften it back again. But if you used some sort of air dry clay, than I'm not sure, as I never worked with them, but perhaps you have some chance? If you'd like to fire it, search for local workshops, pottery stores, community groups and see if anyone can fire it for you. I believe there's a website where you can search for kilns to rent: kilnshare or something like that
@@gaeangardensbyizabela Thank you so much for reading my query and clearing my doubts. I used earthenware clay. This means I must fire it. I will search for a kiln in my locality. Once again, thank you.
@HarusaiBonsai you're very welcome, hope you find it and let me know how it goes. It's well worth firing it and having a great pot since you have made it yourself
@@gaeangardensbyizabela Yes, that's true. I will definitely share the update on it. Thank you.
Good work. But what about glazing and heating ??
Hello, thank you for your question. I included some information about my vidoe titled Firing 16 cubic feet kiln, free to check it out. I haven't done any glazing tutorials yet, apart from one video about different glazing techniques
@@gaeangardensbyizabela Thanks for your kind explanations. Will surely check that video 🌹🙏
@mehranashkanian2747 you're welcome, generally I do more videos about building and this pot was unglazed, so just fired as is. Enj🌹
Is that clay blue?
Hello, and thank you for your question. This is black clay. Please see the description - i have the details and a link there. Blue clay would be quite cool!
After this you are going to bake it.....Right?
Yes, I added some oxides and it will be fired this Sunday

Hi Rongson Bonsai, are you asking what material I used for the pot making? It was a black clay, you can see me make it in the video. Thank you!
This is the same pot seen at the bottom of the kiln on Nigel channel right ? ruclips.net/video/YPZUdnihykw/видео.html
