- Southern Roadside Stand Style Boiled Peanuts... Hillbilly Caviar!!!... Absolutely Addictive!! and you will not regret serving them at your next gathering. Take my word... no one can stop eating them once they start... I have what I think is the perfect salt to peanut ratio and a method that I have used for a year or so now that gets the peanuts to take on water...and then sink which helps them not only cook better but also helps them to absorb the salt and whatever seasonings you have added... It has worked well for me and I think you will have the same result... Ain't nothing better than some salty boiled peanuts for many situations!!!

I have made peanuts for my husband using your recipe and he says they are spot on.
Just finished with these and they are by far the best boiled peanuts we have made. Perfect on salt and no dry shells on top. Delicious!
Thanks Michael... glad you enjoyed them!! And thanks for watching!!!
Thank you for taking the time to pass on this info I'm
71 I don't have the time or money for experiment like that I appreciate it
You are a man after my own heart. I love boiled peanuts.. I buy them in a can, but they are crunchy and I like them soft, so I put them in the ninji for 40 min and they come out perfect.
That ain't a bad idea...(i do like to control what mine have in them though)... but...I feel the same way about the canned ones... thanks and thanks for watching
You PC them for 40 min?
the walking peanut at 0:55 is classic 🤣
I love boiled peanuts, thank you for sharing this method!
Just put mine in the InstaPot. This is all new to me. I've only cooked green on the stove. I'm crossing my fingers! I'll be back in a few hours for an update. I'm so excited!
I think you will be impressed... just test and add time if needed accordingly... let me know how they turn out...thanks for watching!!!
Thanks for the info! I'll add some Texas Pete and crushes red peppers to mine to give it some kick. 😎
I have found the key is the soak after the cook. I normally cook in an IP for 90 minutes then let them stay in under slow release method for another 2 1/2 hrs
Awesome I love it. I just ordered a bag of raw peanuts to give this a try. Never had boiled peanuts I've been wanting to try them for years.
They are hard to stop eating!!! Thanks for watching!!!
We love them!! Thanks for watching!!!
Opened sub-comments to see if you came back with a personal review, lol. Would love to hear your reaction to your first boiled peanuts. 😃
Yes I just put some in the pot first time and I have this brand peanuts. Love green peanuts too tho thanks for thisbinfo

YES!!!!!!!! Thank you ever so. We love boiled peanuts. Love love love em. Thank you ever so 👨🍳😊❤️
You are welcome!!! Thank you for watching!!!
John you need to make a cookbook brother. I’ve done many of your recipes. Always turned out great!
Thanks Paul... love hearing that and thank you for watching!!!
Cool! I never thought of doing peanuts in the instapot.
It is a fantastic method... thanks for watching!!!
Trying this tomorrow.. but i like a little spice so gonna use Slap Ya Mama as opposed to plain salt
I used your recipe but made adjustments cause I only have a 6 qt pot I measured out a gal of nuts and used 1/2 cup of salt acouple of small handfuls of red chilie flakes and about 12 drops of Tabasco scorpion sauce and the turned out great trouble is I get addicted to stuff and overeat then I was getting diarrhea that looked like peanut butter so I looked up on eating boiled peanuts which said boiled peanuts are very healthy even more so than roasted peanuts but also have side effects like gut pain and diarrhea so I must eat them in moderation thanks fire the video I hope my comments can help some other newcomers to boiled peanuts
I used to get these regularly when I lived in Florida, back in '08. Every roadside stand had the Valencia peanuts. I'm back in WV, and I cannot find them anywhere online. Any recommendations? The Valencia are definitely my favorite. Great video!
I would think you could find them online but i always can get them locally at the grocery stores... I would try nuts .com though...thanks for watching!!!
Peanut patch probably sells cans
Love this recipe,. If I decided to throw in some pepper flakes for spice, how much would you recommend?..
Be careful... maybe teaspoon or 2...imho...thanks for watching!!!
I rinse and drain the raw peanuts, add To intant pot, add water to the 1/2 inch line, mix 1/4 cup Hawaiian salt, cook at high pressure 50 minutes natural release (NP). Sometimes I add ginger or garlic powder or anise powder.
I like peanuts. In fact, I like to get the raw peanuts so I can roast them myself. Personally, I think that MOST roasted peanuts are way over roasted and you taste the "roast" more than the peanut. Never thought of making my own boiled peanuts though. I think I'm gonna have to try this John. Always a pleasure. And thank you.
That is a good idea... I've never roasted my own...i think you will like the boiled...thanks for watching!!!
When you can your boil peanuts do you put some of the juice in as well? Put in jar while hit and then place the lid and ring.. then wait for the ping!?
As long as everything is sterile and the liquid is hot I think that will work...thanks for watching!!!
I doubt anyone in Eastern Canada ever heard of this. We tend not to have very unique food traditions plus selection isn't great. For example collard greens. I can't find them anywhere and I love those. Anyway, I hadn't heard of boiled peanuts until like twenty minutes ago. Now I want to make them. Must be a southern American thing, eh? Look delicious in all of the videos.
I love them... A big deal on the south... Thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders You're welcome!
Great video brother!
Thank you...and thanks for watching!!!
Should we soak the raw peanuts the day before? Going to make ‘em Cajun
Freezing the peanuts also increase's the tenderness.
I should have asked you how long green peanuts take. I am cooking them tonight, lol. I bought some at the Farmers Market today. I guess I will cook them 2hrs. anyway.
They do not take as long and it's been awhile since I've done them... 2 hours should be plenty... please let me know how yours turned out and thanks for watching Jonah!!!
I only cooked them for 1hr.10 minutes, but let them sit overnight. I found another recipe online and they came out perfect despite adding both chicken broth and too much salt. I forgot chicken broth has salt already in it. I need to read your replies next time before fixing, lol. Next batch will be perfect.
What brand and model of wrist watch are you wearing in this video?
I've always had some Nigel of a Samsung watch...I currently have the Samsung galaxy watch 3...thanks for watching!!!
This video could have been so much shorter. Too much repetitive jibber jabber, but I'm going to definitely try this in my pressure cooker.
Hey, john how much salt would you use in a 6.5 pressure cooker?
Around a half cup for 3 quarts of peanuts... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Thanks!!
@@JohnSanders Oops, I used the same amount. I like them salty anyway.
All I have is dry peanuts. Any suggestions?
Got that dag gum peanut stuck in your throat towards the end... Way to power thru it, tho.👍
I had to do some mind over matter stuff...lol... thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Thanks again, revisiting the video to boil up some peanuts for 4th of July. 🇺🇸 🇺🇲
Are they supposed to stay watery inside for days?
I usually freeze the ones that are left over in the water i cook them in and reheat as needed... i am honestly not sure how long they will last just sitting in the water...thanks for watching!!!
Yes, they stay wet
How would you cook Green peanuts and how long
I have not done them in a long time...I really am not sure... hopefully someone reading can answer... sorry...thanks for watching!!!
Go dawgs
Woof Woof!!!
Where did you get your peanuts?
At my local Ingles grocery store...
Maybe set a trivet on top of them to keep them underwater. 🤔
That works also but I think you get better flavor to the peanut using this method... thanks for watching!!
Can you do Cajun style?
With regular pressure cooker, it only cook for 35 minutes and it’s done.
Made these today just too much salt but very easy!
Get green for boiling. Get raw for roasting.
Instead of wasting all this electricity (for 2.5 hours jeez), just do 45 mins of pressure cooking and then wait for an hour before opening it up.
Just because electricity is free don't mean you need to waste it.
Ewwww nasty. I picked the wrong day to check out your channel. YIKES!
Oh no!!! Well don't give up...I got another coming soon!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Came for the recipe, stayed for the accent.
