@@TurlosGarage I'm still looking for the right vehicle. The idea is to build a budget Overland vehicle. I'm in Germany and now I'm thinking hmm maybe I should do a 1gen Porsche Cayenne or VW Touareg. It's a bit more money but given its a Cayenne it's actually ok. Here I could get one for around €4k
I have an 06 Jeep Liberty. My wife and I live out in the middle of nowhere a 20 mile drive everyday on a horrible dirt road My Liberty keeps going. 151,000 Mi and the motor is still strong. Last monsoon I pulled out a Chevy 1500 the guy didn't think I could do it. Did it no problem I think he was pretty shocked. All in all I think the Liberty is a good vehicle.
Supposedly as long as the engine does not overheat and I mean 3/4 the way up the temp gauge it should be good. Oh and don’t let a lot of water get into the intake either. I learned the hard way. Thanks for subscribing and commenting!
They do really good off road. I am surprised every time. I typically find the limits are from the ground clearance. I can see how a lift kit and bigger tires would definitely add to the off road capabilities.
You were getting better mileage than mine, only getting 12-14mpg, with a new engine I installed. Apparently it had a fueling problem and not sure what it is yet.
I have a Liberty/ Cherokee kj here in the uk . My partner has a little Peugeot 208 . Liberty kj window switches centre console. Peugeot 208 window switches on the doors . So driving the liberty kj I keep reaching for window switches on the door . Drive the Peugeot I keep reaching for the window switches on the centre console. She’s had the Peugeot 5 years I’ve had the liberty for 2 years . We share cars so it probably compares to 50/50 driving each car .
The lights are on a timer that can be turned off or the delay adjusted, on the overhead displays menu. Also, if you get them a little warm they tend to vapor lock in the fuel rails (you'll have fun restarting it on the side of the road in heavy traffic on a hot day). Other than the poor fuel economy, my wife's won't die, and we have put very little money into it, so I can't complain.
I have done very little sine I fixed the engine. I just did an oil change and changed the spark plugs and it runs so much better now. I am still impressed with the Liberty except the mileage. Thanks for watching
