Awesome scenery taking for sharing this experience I prolly don't want to experience but I super love snow. Kudos to your editor / producer. Someone has great imagination and story tellin with their video editing and naration. We are still struggling on the naration but hoping to overcome that in 2022 . Respect to the craft Sir. Amen!

I've pulled a grand Cherokee that was hydro locked out of one of those water holes up at evans creek before. 2 guys up there by themselves in the middle of the week. I just happened to see them walking after dark. I gave them a ride up to the jeep and then pulled them down to the parking lot so it could get towed. Then I dropped them off at the carbonado saloon to wait for the tow truck
So i have an 08' overland and without a doubt the valve seat or seats dropped very common problem with the pre- 09' hemis happens when the engine overheats or in this case motor was quenched when it went through the "pond"
Sent here by Dave from Scott Rods and subbed. I'm wondering how water got inside the engine if the rig wasn't submerged. You would think an off road vehicle could handle a mere mud puddle, but I drove a military CJ-7 through a puddle once and it died on me. Luckily I only got water in the distributor cap and was able to start the Jeep after I cleaned it out.
Thank You for subscribing! I found Scott Rods a couple of months ago and Dave and his Subscribers have been very helpful in addition to having a great channel. I plan on tearing the engine down soon to if it is salvageable but in the meantime I just bought a hopefully good used engine for very cheap to install. That water crossing didn’t seem that bad to me either I think the Grand Cherokee should of handled it fine. Thanks for watching Phil!
Hey bud. I feel your pain. You've probably realised by now, there's no way you're going to see the internals unless you get a boro-scope, or strip it down. If you have the tools, I would remove that engine to work on it. Like I should have done on mine, but hindsight is a wonderfull thing, lol. Good luck my friend.
I have been keeping it quiet but I have a few leads on used engines, $200-$350 range. I am hoping I can get the Jeep running quickly and tear down the engine and salvage what I can later. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Its s bit strange that water comes inside the engine. I have a GC 06 Hemi. I used to drive in high water but I never got any water inside. I never hade any problems with the transmission. But I am going to check the conectors just to be safe. I am surpriced that the Grand is much tuffer off road than I thought.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I was surprised as well that it sucked in so much water. The water could not have been as high as the air filter for more than a couple is seconds. I need a snorkel. LOL
2:14 That Jeep is "Nnnnnno! I won't come down. I like it here! You can't make me come down!" :P Anyhow, could be hydro-locked? Then again, shouldn't it switch off immediately if it was... Perhaps gearbox got dipped a too much and it went nuts, taking out rod or something from the engine?
Getting ready to pull the right head this week. It looks like the #8 intake valve is bent. There was water in every intake part of the engine. I should have a video with the carnage shortly.

I am trying to be creative and do it as cheap as possible in my driveway. So far it is not going well. Hopefully things change soon. They will not get better as you will see in the video I will publish next week. Thanks for watching!
A year later… seems you had incredibly bad luck getting water into the engine- the video looked like the pond was not even half up your wheels. Very “disappointing”. Did you finally manage a fix? I’ve a 2007 JGC CRD Limited and love it, here down in Australia ;-) 🦘
I bought two “good used engines” that turned out to also be broken. Between the three I just got it back together and running. But looks like the cheap head gaskets I used didn’t work. So will need to take the top end off and replace them with a good set. All part of the adventure!

Carbonado is the closest cell signal. That is a fun area with lots of trails.

You can drive thru deep puddles of water. Going slow is key!. Going fast will allow water to come over your hood thru the intake
This makes me miss off-roading my Tahoe so much. I don’t miss the weekly repairs tho haha! Subbed from Handel fonferek’s channel

Vapor lock, bent piston rod?
I am thinking a bent rod and or rod bearing. Thanks for watching!
Hydro locked your motor and broke a piston rod. I did the same thing
Broke the number 8. Good times! Still working on putting and engine back together, getting close.
Just bought a WK overland 5.7 this will be fun...lol. my last one was a WJ she was a beast... lol.
Nice. Don’t go through water deeper than the top of the front bumper without a snorkel. The quadratrac system is amazing. Maybe it is Quadradrive.
Dave from Scott Rods referred me too. Subbed. BTW for us in the Great White North it is sirup not seerup and it is excellent on sausage.

Hey great video man! 👍
Thanks 🙏 👍
idk if it's just the 4.7 and 5.7l engines but before I knew of this I've done this on accident I have the v6 3.7l and mine is just fine?!?
It might just be Jeeps, water and me don’t mix.
Puddles are Turlo kyrptonite
So in conclusion....what happened?
I have not tore the engine down but I think I got water in the engine and did something internally. I don’t know exactly what bent or broke yet.
Car wars who doesn't have them 🙄
So what do you guys drive?
Still waiting for an answer lol
A broken jeep grand cherokee
I hydro locked my jeep few weeks ago 2006 4.7 couldn't afford a $2000 engine

Great, another car that needs an engine.
That is better than having an engine and looking for a car to put it in.

I think the liberty won.
It was a close one
incompetent
Definitely!
