EPF is not completely tax free.
1. Employer contribution for both EPF + NPS has limit of 7.5 lacs.
Any contribution above this will be taxable.
2. Also in EPF, if interest exceeds above 2.5 lac in that particular year from employee contribution then the over and above amount is taxable.

1st condition is a rare occurrence hence don't worry about it,
Regarding 2nd condition employee contribution required to be 30 lakh then only interest will go 2.5 lakh and this will take some time I'm working from 7 years and my total EPF balance is 2.6 lakh as some companies only contribute 1800 per month and some go with 12% of basic pay, so don't worry about it
