Charles probably felt lonely being part of a supernatural army (by force or intentionally), and needed some actual companionship to pass the time being a seemingly immortal abomination. A part of me also thinks that Charles was a little TOO into Edward, if you know what I mean.
Yeah, not to mention that he was killing the monsters alongside you. I'm guessing that either: A- Considering he transforms into a vampiric looking creature and invites you to "Join their Coven," maybe he comes from a separate group of monsters that has no relation to the main villain or his experiments. or B- He planned to storm the castle with the intention of finding whatever the main villain was using to turn people into monsters (as well as himself in the final boss fight), obtaining it, and using it on himself for his own pursuit of immortality. Him getting fatally wounded is what ends up triggering the transformation. I dunno, I may be just reading into it too deeply, lmao

Haeger's CarnEvil was made to cash-in The House of the Dead; Will Carlin and Mark Macy's Johnny Nero Action Hero was supposed to cash-in Time Crisis, but for some reason, it feels more like a standard 2-player gun game in same cabinet than a linked gun game in two-separate cabs, with the circulator indicator and the boss meter was taken from Virtual Cop and one of the enemies that attack both players feels like its from The House of the Dead and The Maze of the Kings.
For a miserable detective he sure can afford guns with unlimited bullets, and what the hell he meant with NOT fulfilling his missions? He did took care of the graverobbers Anyway, this is one of the last great good ol' operation wolf-like light gun games, its sure is a shame it never got a port
I have the game on super console X it's fun but not as fun as having a gun to use instead of a scrolling icon I got the first ending where I fell to my death as I did not see the three orbs that you need to get still a gory fun nostalgic game remind me of Splatterhouse if it was a shoot-'em-up

As far as I know, the only hint is at 14:22 where you can see them on the two pillars. It's not something you would notice if you're playing it for the first time, so I would say it's a cheap trick.
The first one is collected at 20:56 by killing every single zombie coming out of the elevator. You get the second one by shooting the bust at 26:07 and the last one is automatically collected by beating the boss at 38:07.
The exact message you get is "nvram.bin NOT FOUND"? I don't remember running into any problems with missing files on this one and I don't seem to have a file called nvram.bin in my roms folder. Which version of MAME are you using? If you aren't already using a recent version, I would suggest trying the newest one, which is 0.183.
