the bear is cute but his intentions are not .
Eh, that was not yet aggressive. Curious. Now an animal that well armed being curious is dangerous. But that was not *yet* aggressive. So I wouldn't assign intentions to that just yet.
Love how nature gave most predators very intimidating features, while making the most dangerous predator the cutest of them all

At the end there you can see the polar bear getting ready to swipe at the man with his right hand before giving up. These are cold killers !
Polar bears are man eaters for sure, but I'm not seeing aggression in that particular moment. Even polar bears have curiosity. But once the bear got a sense of how succulent the man's flesh was, that curiosity might have evolved into something else haha

i love how everyone here is in unanimous agreement that, whilst being an incredibly dangerous animal with a substantial track record of mauling and consuming humans, this particular bear is, in fact, a silly lil' guy.

You are so lucky to have had such a close encounter with this beautiful creature. It is my dream to one day go to Churchill but the cost is extremely prohibitive. I would probably come back less one hand as I always want to pet things I shouldn't....

Polar bears are not wild killers. If not hungry, they can be just curious. After all, a truck in the arctic isn't exactly a common sight.

well how the hell would you know if he is hungry or not ... they are beautiful but you need to be careful
That's a big mistake. They are not loud killers, they dont roar like a lion or hiss like a tiger because they dont need to intimidate, they are the top predators in their habitat, they fear none. Lions can be killed by elephants or giraffes, the factor of fear is present in their instincts. Polar bears dont feel fear. They will attack you with a calm face, they will kill you with this exact curious cute expression. Never underestimate bears.
There are actual videos of packs of polar bears playing with sled dogs.
Even if not hungry, they take all they can. At any moment they can be a full week without eating, so better have 50kg of meat in your tummy than only 25kg

In the 300 years Churchill has existed, 3 people have been killed by polar bears. None of those were eaten. Polar bears eat marine mammals. I doubt they'd know what to do with a caribou. Just because the are big and powerful doesn't make them mean. There are tons of vids of them playing and cuddling with sled-dogs. I will forever defend these big, beautiful, intelligent creatures from the BS people like to spread around.

@@juanjoyaborja.3054 Don't be foolish...a polar bear will kill and eat you, case closed..in Svalbard, Norway you are required to carry a rifle once you leave the main town...Like crocodiles, and sharks, Polar bears will actively, hunt stalk and eat humans...
Apex predators are always good for the environment they where they live, no matter how dangerous and scary some of them might be. These bears are cute and beautiful but dangerous. If you have a rifle and fire a couple of shots in the air it will send them scooting away from you.
