Great job CB. I'm excited to finally get back into the Nioh franchise with it being free from ps plus last month. This was a very nice refresher for me, it helps alot yo thank you.
I’ve played through the entirety of Nioh 1 and 2 without having a proper build, I literally just go by the “equip whatever’s strongest” rule. This video is opening a whole new way to approach both the games for me so thanks a bunch for sharing this!
That is how I played through Nioh 2 on my first go through and I will admit I was having a rough time with it. My stats and levels were a complete disaster.
This game NOT easy. Jeez. In some game, npcs can take you down, by two shotting you. These NPC's take you down with combos, right from the start. And they 'slick.' 'Nioh 2' got 'slick' early game NPC, slice you to bits. AND. The game actually tells you who kilt you and how he or it did it, 'bit you to death,' 'kicked you to death,' 'crushed you to death.' Yonkai form a godsend.
I know, right. So much customization to be done and this video was a great refresher. The behind the scenes crafting and planning is as fun as the fighting.
Cowboy, I don't know if you still read these but you have been a great help to me and I'm sure many others since your Dark Souls 2 days. Thank you so much for these guides.
Just picked this up on Steam a few days ago through a sale. Loved the first one, but only got through the initial playthrough. I like the improvements in this one and how true it stays to the original. Thanks for the video, the blacksmith is what was really confusing me. I hate being inefficient.
Loved the original Nioh. Played a ton of it and STILL found this video extremely helpful. Much appreciated as always. Ready for release. Keep doing what you do.
As a person who has played Nioh 2, the answer to the question "what skills should you get" seems to be "everything, just level everything up very high."
Brand new to Nioh today (kept getting wrecked on the first boss of the trial). I am REALLY digging this game so far. Trying to get over Souls mindset has been tough, but I have really enjoyed the trial. I was honestly surprised at just how much customization this game has. I have no doubt I will be watching this video a few times in the future, as I try and puzzle out how everything works! EDIT: Just found out this game has hide helmet and fashion souls. 20/10 best game.
Probably one of the most complicated games I've played but I'm keen to master it now after watching this tutorial.. also took me 5 hours to defeat the first boss (by first boss I mean second enemy).. no game has ever made me feel this small.. I will beat you Nioh2.
Thanks Cowboy, great content as usual. Honestly I spent 80% of the last chance trial time in the character editor, that thing is amazing! Don't want to spoil the actual release, most anticipated game of 2020 for me (don't think Elden Ring is coming this year)...

There are 2 Unique Skills from the Onmyo Tree ( Those skills are pretty much OP ) 1 Talisman can turn your Weapon into a weapon of Light.... making it Extremely OP ( However , after u use that OP Talisman Skill. Your weapon Familiarity drops to 0 ) there is also that other skill next to it which also Buffs your weapon in a similar way.... *Weapons under 300 Familiarity is not Buffable by these Talismans* So you have to sacrifice your familiarity in order to do some Insane damage for about 30 seconds or so..... ( These Talismans Cost 9 Onmyo Capacity Each , and you can only Hold 1 skill , and to use it you have to have a 300 familiarity weapon ) they are located on the Top of the Onmyo Skill Tree.... Those skills have Pros & Cons so becareful when using them.... cuz after using the Talisman your weapon starts again with 0 Familiarity , which means its damage is reduced not as Max Familiarity ( You can only use those Scrolls when your Weapons are 300 Familiarity not less than 300 ) It has a heavy Cost to it.... i had to put this up so that no one gets confused Lol. *I'm pretty sure it acts like the Living Weapon from Nioh* 🔥👌🏼 Keep that in mind... it's different from Yokai Shift ( Basically a Living Weapon Scroll , but only usable when your Weapon Familiarity is 300 not less ) it has it's own Mechanic *Nioh 2 has Living Weapon , but as a Different Mechanic... now you have to Sacrifice your Weapon Familiarity for that Living Weapon Buff* 👌🏼
This guide had really helped me. I would recommend for any newcomers to play the first level a few times to get use to the controls and to grind for some good loot. It might be tedious, but trust me, each attempt you'll get fast and clearing it and get some great loot to start off with. The only question I have is how do I spend skill points. I have seven for switchglave and every time I want to spend them I can't.
If they're greyed out (or red) in the skill tree and they say unlocked after mission ??? you have to do the training in the dojo to unlock that ability

Another thing that may be helpful. Soul Matching a weapon with a Soul Core to level up the weapon seems to be exponentially cheaper than using a weapon of the same level. I spent about 20-30k to level a weapon from 30 to 51 using a Soul Core instead of using a weapon and spending 160k.

I recommend a quality build for the first run. You can try many weapons and your character will be stat balanced. Then, you can make a focused build for the endgame or even late parts of the game.
the RNG and DIABLO STYLE LOOTING bring this game from 8 to 6 to me . i don't like to farm for hours only to waste everything on random chance i think that is more frustrating then dying in souls games you can create the build you like and enjoy after like 3 to 6 hours of starting the game and the rest of the game you spend mastering it and enhance it in Nioh 1 and 2 that wont happen you will spanned at least 50% of the game farming and looting shit that is either useless or you won't use to finally in the end make a build that you like and suit you and that build will never be as you want it exactly cause RNG that is bullshit to me and what made me not finish these games even tho i enjoy the combat a lot .
Thanks for this. I'm preparing myself for Nioh 2 complete edition for PC ( Steam) on Feb.5th. Never played a Nioh game but I'm a fan of the Souls games and Bloodborne so I think I should be ok.
I'm at 28 hours into the game and I'm trying to do an onmyo magic build, using switchglaive. I'm level 32 and have almost 26 points in magic. I need to know what to actually invest my points into at the start of the game so I can get the most out of my armors. All I did from the start of the game was put all my points into magic, when all I have currently is weapon buff talismans due to not unlocking the offensive omnyo magics yet (I'm stuck on that snake narhwal looking bastard boss).

Well, time to brush up on Nioh! Sony has Nioh 2 on Playstation Plus. Played Nioh 1 almost exclusively for a year. My game kept improving, so I kept on playing! Nioh is among the best action games ever. Right up there with Ninja Gaiden and Monster Hunter.
great video, nice work. one thing you haven't mentioned which does effect gameplay quite a bit is Toughness, and i guess that goes hand in hand with blocking and how to use it in Nioh. One thing i see a lot of new player do is basically never block, when blocking is essential in Nioh to getting out of stagger.
In my opinion this is way to much to take in I work 10 to 12 hours a day and don't have time to go this in depth into a video game which is really sad because I truly wanted to enjoy nioh 2. If anyone had any tips pleases let me know because I feel like this is just to much to learn for a video game when I have such limited time.
Ive gotten to the second "chapter" and you dont really have to craft at least to that point. Just make sure you get gold as if you want to change stats from one weapon to another you have to use a lot of gold for higher weapons. You can play it like a usual action game, and if you play ds, like that too. Just level up stats that benefit your weapon choice, and try to level a tree related to ninjutsu or magic. And dont forget to get skills that you enjoy or would like to try the most.
I know you didn't like the Switchglaive but I literally high stanced the whole demo with the spin to win move with occasional burst counters. Also did you see PWARGaming's 1-2 shot knife throwing video? That shit is broken af.
What really blew my mind in this game, finally playing it on pc, is all the new weapons. They really pushed their different stances being unique and holy crap the switch glaive is basically a bloodborne weapon!!! How did nobody tell me this before?!?!?! So cool
22:25 the thing I find very strange in this game is also you don't seem to be able to upgrade certain weapons above a threshold. If they are too low, they only go so far after a few upgrades you will only spend money and it will not change the weapon. It will say it is changing, but actually it's not.

i don't like to farm for hours only to waste everything on random chance i think that is more frustrating then dying
in souls games you can create the build you like and enjoy after like 3 to 6 hours of starting the game and the rest of the game you spend mastering it and enhance it in Nioh 1 and 2 that wont happen you will spanned at least 50% of the game farming and looting shit that is either useless or you won't use to finally in the end make a build that you like and suit you and that build will never be as you want it exactly cause RNG that is bullshit to me and what made me not finish these games even tho i enjoy the combat a lot .
Great videos cowboy but I always ask my self why the audio is sonlow
Great vid! What are your guys favorit weapons?
I understand the game but I can't figure out which weapons I want to use... Deciding between Axe \odachi and Spear\sword
Dude, builds begin at NG+. For the first walkthrough, its whatever the fuck you run, as the resources you own do not enable you to spec into anything yet
Finally! Thanks for this vid!!!!!
TBH I'm quite overwhelmed and still don't understand LOL I need an idiots guide 😅
This is more complicated than my calculus class.
@toptier sagat🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's pretty simple if you've played any type of RPG. You just have to get used to a game's jargon and mechanics to master it.
Here’s the thing...I love souls games and this kinda looks like one of them but I really really dislike anime and it kinda looks like that, so is it really animey?
This doesn't look anime at all unless you're racistly generalized all of Japanese culture as "animey"
FightinCowboy no not at all, I just played the first one and within the first 15 minutes there was an anime waifu chick and some evil dark lord dude...definitely animey
Chase Stevens that’s why I fukn thought on the 1st one, it was looking good then all of a sudden some nigga be floating in the air with black robes and eyes and shit...anime as hell
@@desmondrolle8523 sounds more demonic than anime and I assume your talking about the bald guy
Great video bro, really useful.
I'm def gon need your help on this one haha come on lets play lol
This game seems amazing, thanks for the video.
This was very helpful
Hi i im new to nioh, i was playing elden ring first souls game then sekiro. I looked this up and just wanted to try and oh boy i was so much of a surprise. I am so overwhelmed with the contents of this game so much thing to worry about when i bought it i thought i was just trying until i refund before i spend 3hrs on jt. But oh my i alrdy spent hours on trying the weapons and chac selecetion havent gone to mission yet. Thanks for the tutorial i am still confused to a lot of it but appreciate your effort to explain
Extremely helpful and concise guide! I love the complete control over customization, but its definitely confusing at first
Damn Nioh 2 is dense. Good video.
Goated Guide game just went free for ps plus, was really struggling till I found this.
I needed this more than you can imagine, it was overwhelming as fuck for me lol thank you good sir.
How do I play this game is so complicated
That shit is broken af.
i use only switchglaive for my first playthrough lol,
What really blew my mind in this game, finally playing it on pc, is all the new weapons. They really pushed their different stances being unique and holy crap the switch glaive is basically a bloodborne weapon!!! How did nobody tell me this before?!?!?! So cool
And this is why I avoided watching any real content until after the PC release so I didn't get to spoiled
22:25 the thing I find very strange in this game is also you don't seem to be able to upgrade certain weapons above a threshold. If they are too low, they only go so far after a few upgrades you will only spend money and it will not change the weapon. It will say it is changing, but actually it's not.
In this for the PC Version coming out tomorrow.
Why wouldn't it be? It's the same game
@@muhammed_musamir No not "Is this" I said "In this" as " I am here because I'mma bout to clap cheeks samurai style *tomorrow*" but now tomorrow is today and I just got this sucker installed so LET'S GOOOOOO!
@@Menelker oh my bad dude, now I see what you meant, enjoy the game
Going in today for nioh 2 played nioh 1 i forgot all so cowboy does good job of explaining all
@@redzinter Fact, all the videos in the playlist have given me so many goods ideas. But jeez Louise this game hard for a casual pleb like me XD Managing Ki seems to be the first struggle I need to overcome but dang is this game FUN. ^__^
I'm new what is the meaning finding kodama those green little guys 😄
Awesome! This is exactly what I needed. Can't wait for your Nioh 2 content!
I love how in depth this is. I've played over 100H and still I'm learning new stuff. Can you believe I played 50h without knowing about the equipment load? What a journey that was fighting bosses while in the yellow and reds LOL. Anyways, great video.
if it wasn't for this dude i'd be lost i love his channel so much
i really wanna refund this game but it won’t let me so thank you for the guide
i love the game so much...I understood the system of forging in Nioh1 but happily forgot it xD I hated it then...I hate it now. I'm just white european boy that want's to enjoy killing demons. This system is Asian master kid level....absolutely unnecesary timewasting feature
It actually saves time.
I had just about given up on this game until I found your help!! my guy!! you explained alot
College is the hardest enemy in this game. Doesn't let you play
And crunch time at work coupled with having a 2 year old at home.
the blacksmith is confusing. will need to rewatch that a few times :) thanks
The only guy i follow for game tutorials 🙌🏾🙌🏾 great break down
Never in my life have I wanted a game so badly...
HURRY AND RELEASE ALREADY!!!
Did you enjoy it? I’m just now starting
So hyped for Nioh 2!! I already preordered it and can't wait to play the final game. Due to time constraints I will probably be playing Nioh 2 for the rest of the year. Maybe even until Elden Ring comes out ;)
Game looks great. Almost good enough to make me dust off my PlayStation and get it lmao
Watching because I’m stuck on the very first level and keep getting stomped on by Azazel from Tekken
This is great! Thanks! I hope sooner or later this will come to PC and I'll be able to play it countless hours like I did with the first one :D
This game is hard AF I just keep dieing
Yeah lol
The music in Nioh 2 is so much better. Great video Cowboy cant wait for more guides.
This is so much info to take in hahaha. I love these games but damn.
Can some nioh god player here help lil novice out I’m PS4 I have no clue what to do I want to enjoy this game but no clue what to do.
I'm not a god but I'm down to play .
Doing Expeditions is always good, cause your partner(s) can revive you instead of being one and done if you die.
Humble bundle gang
Thank you for this CB! Your original beginners guide for the first Nioh is what got me interested in the game. It's been a while since I played, so coming into Nioh 2 with all the new mechanics was a bit of an information overload. I was hoping you'd release a guide to have everything explained, not disappointed!
