    Great stuff.

    Bien hecho otra vez !! Did the valve cover gasket on my SLK a few months ago before i sold it. When i removed the cover there was a few pockets of oily crud near the cams and oil tubes so cleaned it up a bit. Did an oil change at same time !! So thanx for entertainment !!

    I saw on your valve cover that your engine model is the 1KR-B52, which is quite interesting, as I always thought it was the 1KR-FE.
    According to Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_KR_engine#1KR-B52), this is actually a modified version of the 1KR, which reduces emissions and boosts performance. Not sure how true it is, but based on the way your car performs, I'd say it is 💯.
    Truly is a 3-cylinder race car you've got there mate 😎
    Curious to see if my C1 is the same model. Will check when I get the chance.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  2 года назад +1

      Mines just the 1KRFE with a few sic tuning mods to make it fast as fuck... The valve cover might be interchangeable though.

    Haynes manual has the torque @ 9Nm for the bolts, and thanks for the video. Will be interested if it stops your leak.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  2 года назад

      Sounds about right for the m6 bolts. Tbh as long as they’re tight enough not to come loose, and not tight enough to break anything then they’ll be fine. You get a feel for this sort of thing if you do it enough, but it’s not a critical torque setting as like a head gasket where you’re crushing the gasket a set amount and stretching the bolts etc.

    White smoke was coming out of the exhaust. Is this normal? Does yours also do this?

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  Год назад +1

      Yes. It’s most likely just steam from the exhaust. When the fuel is burned, water is actually produced. When the exhaust is cold and on cold days it shows up even more.

      140k. Oil usage about normal for one of these, they usually a bit. It’s actually in decent condition. Cam lobes and timing chain all decent etc. It’s just a bit of varnish but nothing out the ordinary.

    If you pause the video at 9:08, Is that 90 degree bend next to your finger what takes the coolant into the heater matrix replaceable? I thought the rubber pipe was leaking but that metal bend is corroded in the middle and pissing coolant everywhere.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  Год назад +1

      I see the pipe you mean. I’m sure it will be replaceable somehow, but I’m not sure how it’s held in or if it’s part of another bit. I’ll try to remember to have a proper look next time I lift the bonnet on the shitter

    • @PieeaterComeonengland

      The cylinder head needs to be replaced to change that 90 degree bend, Ended up using JB Weld high heat putty to seal the holes, So far it’s held up.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  Год назад

      To do the valve seals, you usually have to remove the head. Sometimes they can be done with the head on by using compressed air to hold valves closed with piston at tdc but at minimum, the cams would need to come out on this engine. It’s not a small job.
