C1/107/Aygo 1.0 Petrol Throttle body, MAP sensor and PCV cleaning

  • In this video, I remove, clean and replace the throttle body, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor and Positive Crank case Ventilation (PCV) valve in an attempt to improve throttle responsiveness and to cure a rough running issue. The car is currently suffering from increased fuel consumption, slow throttle response and rough running. I serviced it in the last video, but that didn’t resolve the issue. Link to Chris' channel:

    Hi there and a big thanks done all the above on my daughter's car today, and being a waste of time around cars this is a bit of a big thing for me, i understand that there are people that can do this with there eyes closed but not me, so done step by step in the vid and got it all done, your Throttle body was really clean when i took a look at my daughter's it was black everywhere, and from the first turn of the key the car does not sound half as ticky or as loud got to wait for my daughter to take the car out but a big thanks for your help in keeping the car running tidy also for keeping some money in my pocket instead of the garage.

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  3 месяца назад +1

      I’m glad you like the video!
      The PCV valve, positive crankcase ventilation valve, is responsible for venting the positive pressure generated within the engine when combustion takes place. It contains oil vapour and other such things like that in the expelled gasses, which are then fed back into the air intake for emissions purposes. I did a video on cleaning the Throttle Body Control Valve too. It’s in the Project C1 playlist.

      It really is as simple as the video shows it. Three bolts holding the throttle body onto the engine, you dot necessarily even have to remove the throttle cable - it can be pushed to one side and given a quick clean in situ. Then it’s just two screws holding the MAP sensor in and an electrical cable.

      Now mileage dropped take over time mileage was 26kmpl. I was changing oil 0w16 . But this dealer changing 0w20 every time. from next I planning to buy out side and hand over to them . 8500-9000 km I change engine oil

    Can you use brake and clutch cleaning on the the throttle body and map sensor.

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  Год назад

      I suppose you could. There must be a reason why brake cleaner has been formulated differently though, perhaps it’s more volatile?

      @@DABDIY vodka? I used vodka to clean my car after sanding and before painting as it removes oil and evaporated quick lol

      That’s fair enough then! Smirnoff is only really any good for cocktails 🍹 and engine degreasing 🤣

    Hello there, I also have a Toyota Yaris with the same engine, it only cranks but sometimes starts and immediately stops. What do you think might be the cause/problem?
    Thanks

      I’m not entirely sure to be honest with you. If it didn’t start at all, I’d say immobiliser. Maybe fuel supply?

    On the subject of the PCV system, it's worth watching out for this split airbox problem: ruclips.net/video/elMzFOjbKdA/видео.html
    The author of the above has a few videos on the subject. I'm keeping an eye out - the issue seems to be quite endemic.

    I used carb cleaner for pcv valve

    • @DABDIY
      @DABDIY  2 года назад

      I tried that at first. It needed something a little more aggressive than carb & electrical cleaner, so I decided that brake cleaner was the way forward. It doesn’t look like it’s ever been cleaned, but now that it has, I’m confident that arb cleaner will do the job when I come to service the car next year 👍🏻

      Be sure to check out a more recent video where I clean the idle control valve too. It’s also worth cleaning the VVT solenoid, but I haven’t done a video on that.
