    I've already noticed that this channel has excellent quality performances, but has anyone noticed how superb the camera work is, too? They must be using a dozen cameras and have the entire piece mapped out. I find that it enhances the experience, almost like being there. Professionalism all around. Chapeau! 🤩

      It's a channel of a German public broadcaster. They ARE professionals.
      The orchestra belongs to that broadcaster. Which is why this channel is ad-free.

      Yes, FRS stands alone in its level of technical support of the orchestra.

    The Golden Son (altin oglu - Turkish) seems to be a very inspired choice as a conductor for this gorgeous orchestra. They did quite a few recordings since his appointment. I cannot wait for more and more additions to this fabulous channel. Good luck Maestro!

    What a poetic and breathtaking performance of a great piece! When writing this symphonic poem, Dvořák was following the plot of one of the Czech folk tales (popular due to the Romantic and nationalist tendencies in the country), the Spinning Wheel. First there is the arrival of a young king and his meeting with a beautiful maiden who captures his heart (among other things with her gorgeous spinning 😉). However, when he returns to ask for her hand, her (evil, of course) step-mother tries to persuade him to rather marry her step-sister. He refuses and orders her to bring the original one to his castle. So, when the step-duo take the fair maiden to the castle, they dismember her and gouge her eyes out (the part around 8.25) and leave her in the forest for the wild animals to eat, while taking her cut-off parts to the castle with them. They somehow manage to persuade the king that the step-sister is actually the original one 🤷‍♀ and he marries her. Nonetheless, meanwhile in the forest the body is found by a sage and his assistant and kept in a cave. And when the young king needs to go to the war (and orders his new bride to spin beautifully for him meanwhile), the assistant is sent to the gates of the castle with three parts of a gorgeous gold spinning wheel, always asking for the body parts as the payment. He brings them back to the sage who uses living water to attach them back and the body is complete. Meanwhile, the king returns back and the step-sister thinks she might enchant him with spinning her newly bought wheel - however, the spinning wheel is enchanted and sings three times about her evil-doings. When the king understands what happened, he rushes to the forest to forest where he finds the maiden and brings her back to his castle to marry her. The evil step-mother and step-sister are dismembered and the spinning wheel disappears.

    I just discovered these three Dvorak tone poems, based on actual poems. The Spinning Wheel, The Noon Witch and The Water Goblin, all very enjoyable!

      If you enjoyed those three, you should check out *The Wood Dove* and especially *A Hero's Song*
      theyre lesser known but equally masterful.

    3:49 The motivic relationship to Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2, which was played in the second part of the same concert, is amazing. The four-bar motif of the violins (bars 168 to 171) in A major is melodically and rhythmically an almost "literal" quotation of Mendelssohn's main theme, which is presented there in B flat major first by the trombones and is adopted later by the choir to the words "Alles, was Odem hat, lobe den Herrn".

    Wunderschöne und lebhafte Aufführung dieser melodischen und fein komponierten Sinfonischen Dichtung mit farbenprächtigen doch perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Instrumente. Die Virtuosität aller Einzelspieler ist echt eindrucksvoll. Der intelligente und geniale Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Orchester im gut analysierten Tempo und mit künstlerisch kontrollierter Dynamik. Obwohl die Resonanz nicht ideal ist, klingt die ganze Aufführung echt begeisternd und auch bezaubernd. Wahrlich hörenswert!

    • @Quotenwagnerianer
      @Quotenwagnerianer 2 года назад +3

      Du meintest wohl eher die Akustik und nicht die Resonanz. Die Resonanz ist die Reaktion des Publikums.

    • @gstorrente
      @gstorrente 2 года назад +2

      @@Quotenwagnerianer Jein. Resonanz nennt der Musiker den beabsichtigten Effekt etwa bei Streich- oder Zupfinstrumenten, wenn die in Schwingung versetzte Saite den sie umgebenden Holzboden und -deckel zum Mitschwingen (re-sonare = lat. mitklingen) anregt, idealerweise so, dass eine Klangverstärkung entsteht.
      Im Kontext des Eröffnungsposts spricht der Akustiker allerdings von Nachhall. In der Tat ist ein Nachhall wie im Kloster Eberbach von deutlich über 5 Sekunden kontraproduktiv für die Aufführung klanglich komplexer sinfonischer Musik wie dieser Dvorák-Tondichtung. Im zweiten Konzertteil bei Mendelssohns 2. Sinfonie mit ihrem hymnisch-sakralen Charakter funktioniert das naturgemäß viel besser.
