I got awarded Viskag a couple of weeks ago and had to go swords but I'm kinda regretting it now being a gnome and not having seen maladath (even tho I should have prio on it). I feel like getting daggers gear is much easier, and this video kinda confirmed it QQ
Just want to note that people can continue to do the aq specter questline long after AQ is open. The only reason you do it prior is for the mount. You can casually farm aq20 for CC rep and pick away at the questline for the swords a month or 2 down the line.
Hey Sarthe ! Always a pleasure to see a new well made educationnal video. Although I agree with most of your statements, there are a couple of things that I'm a bit surprised not to see included here. I might be wrong, it would be nice for me to know your thoughts about this : 1 - The 5/5 T2,5 bonus seems like a really nice upgrade for swords rogue. I think they should get prio on it. 2 - T2,5 boots are a massive upgrade for swords compared to T1/T2 especially as they've been passing on shadowflame for their fellow daggers. Should be higher than the spaulders. 3 - Badge of the Swarmguard seems like one of the best switch trinkets of the game (as every armor pen item seems to be), worth to be mentionned. 4 - The twins bracers can look cool but as they are a very minor upgrade, I think we can consider leaving them to classes they can be endgame bis for. Enhancement Shams, feral and tank druids, Fury warriors. Same thing with the gloves. Especially considering the force ap ratio for warriors and shams (and the orc racial) concerning the gloves. Both of them end up being outclassed by tier 3. All of the above mentionned classes don't get optimal tier. I might seem picky but I know your guides can be pretty influencial for the rogue community, and we should not forget to make our non rogue melee friend feel considered :p Ok that's long enough eventhough I have dozens of other questions for you. TL:DR scepter chain is very doable AFTER AQ has been released, and you'll only miss out on the bugmount. AQ40 gives tons of Brood of Nozdormu rep, which is the biggest hurdle to getting the scepter of the shifting sands questchain done. So you can in fact do just the quest and not the actual repgrind, once AQ is released. You WON'T be able to get the mount that way, but you will be able to get everything else, including Ravencrest's Legacy or Shadowsong's Sorrow. It's expensive and you need your guild to help out a lot, so coordinate with other guildies that also want to do the chain and do Corruptor, Maws, Eranikus, Chicken, etc. ONCE. Don't be that guy that asks the whole guild to dedicate hours for them after having done the same thing just a week ago.

According to the Garcia DPS sheet, Jom Gabbar is 17 dps over Earthstrike (60s+ encounters, so for some short BWL/MC parses I see your point), whereas the belt is like 10dps (when you don't loose the 3pc Blood Fang bonus). I'd list the trinket on pos 3 after the weapons and the belt on pos 4. Position 5 depends highly on your gear, if you have r10 gear for example -> one of the cloaks or the gloves are the way to go. I don't know what went wrong here, but this list (aside from the weapons) is a mess!

I feel like theres not all that much for rogues besides tier 2.5 and a couple items, the best of which come off of cthun, about how much of an upgrade would you guys say that badge of the swamgaurd is? was kinda glossed over, and im in need or trinks
Warriors and rogues have been fighting each other for loot since we first did Ragefire Chasm but from this point forward it will get a lot worse so allow me to provide a tank perspective from somebody's who been through this before on multiple private servers. Warriors and rogues will share tokens for loot in AQ40 and Naxx and a lot of guilds will establish a tank priority on tier pieces if the content proves to be difficult. Rogues might not see T3 for months as you gear up your tanks and try to stop Patchwerk from blowing them up. The most impactful pieces for tanks are chest and legs. We don't want the boots, the shoulders are nice but we will probably already have Drake Talon Pauldrons from BWL. The head is even worse than Helm of Endless Rage for threat. Weapons are dependent upon what your tanks already have. If he has Thunderfury and a non-garbage offhand (CHT, BB, Mala) then he should be fine on weapons. If your guild is like mine and has 0 bindings, then tanks will want everything you do (Death's Sting, AQR, Pugio). Jom Gabbar is very good and I've seen it given to tanks/warriors/rogues who don't have DFT. We have 0, but I personally will pass to DPS if I can get first Kiss of the Spider. Badge of the Swarmguard is more of a DPS item. Everybody should be farming for Earthstrike. With regards to the cape, tanks might want Concentrated Hatred. The AQ20 cloak is very close and basically free but most of us haven't gotten a cloak since Ragnaros last summer while you guys have Cloak of Firemaw. C'thun cloak is also very good but we will prio casters for Eye.
From what i read and heard, everybody that complete the quest chain for the opening can get Raven's crest Legacy. This is not part of the 10 hours window after the gong. Still hard to get tho, to be confirmed

I'm not sure what the proc rate is, but it doesn't seem worth it until you've got at least 3 pieces. Thoughts?
I think prio --- 0. Jom Gabbar Because u can hold your energy and wait for max proc (after 6 sec u got 260 ap, after 10sec 390, after 14sec 520ap. If use this trinket before Adrenaline on 5sec, u can maximum dps)
The stats on the weapon increase the weapon damage by an invisible amount, so it ends up being higher. (Actually I did the math and top end is 136, but u still get crit and hit regardless)
Question, I MH Perd and OH Felstriker. So I will swap Perd for Death's Sting, but...I'm torn on swapping Felstriker for the Pugio. Sure, raw damage and stats is great...but Felstriker has consistently proven to be broken in my OH. Opinions?
Jom Gabbar is more suited for hunters/rogues than warriors. AP is boosting only white hits and bloodthirst for warriors. Execute has nothing to do with AP. Using the warrior class trinket is gonna benefit them more than a 20 sec AP boost ramping up from 65 to 650. After those 20 sec, where they have no cooldowns to use with, they are gonna sit with an empty trinket slot. Even HoJ will do more dmg than Jom Gabbar for warriors with the exception of some really high end speed runs. So I dont think that rogues are gonna fight with warriors over trinkets.
This is indeed a comprehensive list of items rogues want in AQ, however, I find it incredibly skewed from their perspective. I am a member of a loot council in a raiding guild atm and we spend hours discussing item crossing points with other classes and ways to make sure there's even distribution. Unfortunately, this is something that's barely touched upon in the video, especially for the tokens. Also, you can still get the OH sword from the opening quest chain even if you do it after the fact.
how does the AQ set compare to the tier 0.5 4 piece? would it be bis to wear 4 piece tier .5 and fill the rest with AQ set? ( if the .5 set proc is respectable)
Had to reply again that although it would be weaker than combat, I think it might be better when Adrenaline Rush is on Cooldown. And in speedruns, you usually use AR every 2nd boss, so if you're going for total damage in entire run it might win against Combat. Have to sim it tho :)
What I was missing in this video (watching away from pc so I don't have atlas loot): visuals, you didn't press ctrl once :( Aq20 set SnD reduced cost + Aq40 set +15% eviscerate damage combo for insane dps? Also in pvp cb with the +15% must be insane

when it commes to the gloves so manny sources say that the Aged Core Leather Gloves are bis for whole P5 whats ur standpoint on that (based on the wpn skill for glancing)
Yeah I agree, If you go SF Daggers, you'll need the +5 daggers from ACLG & +3 from DS, but if you remain Combat Daggers~ you get the +5 from weapon expertise & +3 from DS for a nice shiny 308.

that's actually not true... it's like 17 dps over earthstrike (90s fight), depending on the fight duration (15dps for 60s). It's true though, if your avg boss kill time is just around 30seconds, which I highly doubt in AQ40.

seal fate is never better it will always be worse compared a normal combat spec. it becomes not so bad on long fights but its still worse

T2 8 piece isn't bis right now; it never was for this phase. You are better off with nightslayer shoulders and shadowflame boots.
It is bis because you cant possibly have 2 PC zandalar trinket this early and not to mention botsf prio is lowest for swords

For human sword rogues is it best to stay at 7%hit and stack rest into crit?
