bless your heart for starting the video immediately
I usually hate tutorials because they're overly complicated but you literally saved me so much time and stress, as someone whos new to this camera and video stuff this helped me so much. Liked, comment and subscribed, keep up the work!
I appreciate the kind words and thanks for the sub 👊
you’re a life saver my guy. all other videos on youtube were outdated or just didnt work for the problem i was having finding my video files.
Thanks for this video it was extremely helpul. I'm new to mac, I have a m1 mac mini and 2202 11' ipad pro (pc/galaxy user) and could not find my videos from my ZV-E10 and it was driving me crazy. You are straight to the point and easy to follow. Please continue to make great content like this.
Straight to the point, love it.
Thank for you the direct, easy tutorial. So many others are just about generic photos and images which frustrated me because I was looking for my videos!
thank you for this, super simple and easy to follow!
Thank you for being direct and getting straight to the point. Followed along and got exactly what I needed. Thanks a ton! Is there a particular brand/drive size you recommend for 4K video storage?
Thank you soo much..I also have A6400 & pro 14. Not only ur videos are helpful but all links in description box are also helpful too 😄 thankx once again sir
Thank you so much!! I’m new to using the Sony ZV-1 and your videos have been a great education on how to navigate everything! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
You're very welcome!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This video was extremely helpful since I recently bought my first Sony camera, the A7CII. Love your videos, keep up the great work, Jason!! 💯💯💯
You're very welcome!
Thank you so much! A suggestion: maybe you could make a video about what you usually do when you transfer the content from the camera to the MacBook. I know it's very subjective, but it would be nice knowing how do you choose the photos you will delete and how do you organize the remaining photos.
Thanks a lot!! This is really helpful!!
Your videos are so helpful. Thanks!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for this video!!! It helped a lot!👍🏼
You're very welcome!
I saw a bunch of videos to do the same with no result, but you explained so well and it worked...thanx
Thank you so much Jason, now I can find my videos :))))
Very helpful, thank you !
Hello Sir thank you for this video! It is so helpful and I finally figured out how to transfer files to my macbook air :)
Life saver. Thank you!
Great video!
You doing god's work brother
Thank you thank you! I just got a Sony a6400 and I had trouble trying to find my videos. Thank you again!!!❤
You're welcome!!
Thanks for the help!
Thanks for the tip!
thank you. very helpful.
Cool. Vid. Sony has the most insane file structure on these cards I'm like wtf. Helpful tips thx!
I agree, the filing of the photos vs videos is too much. So many clicks to get to the videos. And, I’m annoyed with all the XML files. Is it really that necessary to have the XML files for each video file? 🤷🏻♂️
Thank you... easy peasy.😊
Welcome 😊
Thank you! This really helped.
You're welcome!
Got it! Thank you!!!!!!
Thanks a lot , man !
Thank you so much!!!
This helped me
YES! Thank you. Better than Sony explaining it. Also I did not need to buy a type A card reader right now if connecting the camera to the laptop.👌🤟
Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!! You literally saved me so much heartache trying to figure this out
Great video man! A question, do you know if a cf express card can be put directly into the sd cardslot of my macbook pro m1 to transfer videofiles?
Hi Jason no need to reply bought the cable you suggested and it works a treat. Perfect
Excellent!
You saved my life
Thanks for the video Jason! is there a way to wirelessly transfer the pics to the Mac?
Great video Jason. Can you be more specific about what cable to buy in terms of what each end connector should be? I'm going from the Sony a6400 to my Macbook Pro 2021 (16" monitor).
Hi Eliot, this is the type of cable your looking for: (A6400 to New Mac Pro) - USB-C to Micro USB: geni.us/xs5aArE USB-C is the Computer side, Micro USB is the A6400 camera side...
my zv1 tells me to start usb streaming blah blah. someone help me please - i tried to change the settings to mass, map and auto and it gives me the same streaming message whenever plug the cable.
Thank you 🙏🏻
God thank you so much for this video
Thank you so much
What wire is recommended for the camera 6400 to my MacBook Air laptop transfer photos and videos
thank you so much
I've been using the FTP function to send files to my NAS. Took a little bit of first-time setup, but now, as soon as I walk into wifi range (or even in the field) I can just hit a few buttons and send them over without even going over to the computer.
Awesome!
thanks !
hi - enjoyed your video and info...I have a Sony 6300 and a Mac Air 2018. can u recommend a cable for me to transfer photos? thanks so much
Thank you.
Para a sony zv1 não acontece assim. O modo que transfere interfere na qualidade?
Thank you
I’m new thank you
Hi, nice clear video.
Can I import an AVCHD file through the lead method .
I have a file I can view completely on the camera but, no method of card transfer will see it to my computer. I need to be able to send this file to a recipient too. It's most annoying. Thanks in advance .👍👍
thank you
The usb cable that you used, is it compatible with the Sony cyber shot rx10iii digital camera? What brand and model number is the cable?
thanks
Hi Jason, please can you advise on best cable for Sony rx100 vii to MacBook Pro 14. I have a half Gariz cover on the camera now and so each time i need to check the footage i have to unscrew the cover to remove the SD card. I have a micro usb to C cable but nothing shows up on the MacBook. Please can you help. Thank you
Thanks for that info - so that's where my MP4 movie clip went! - Seems an unnecessary hassle from Sony to make the file structure so complex.
I have my sony zv e1 and i have a sony tough memory card and when i transfer my videos to my computer it says not supported. I hope you can help me how to solve my issues :( i only use the usb-c with transferring from sony mtp am right or i use msc thanks in advance
Thanks for the video.
I am using alpha 6000 and after I cut the photo files from the SD card and paste in my folder ( using cable) I have problems. The SD card still does not have empty space and it the display screen of the camera a black screen is shown for each photo with the text: This image cannot be displayed. Do you have any idea what might cause this?
When I format the SD card the problem is solved but still I do not understand why that happens
Glad I found this video. I’m having some trouble.. I recorded a bunch of footage on my a7c and when I go to upload the mp4s on my Mac, all the footage looks super noisy… not sure what I’m doing wrong because it looks very clear when I play back on the A7C. Any advice? Thank you!!
Sounds like the ISO was very high if the footage is noisy like that. Have you tried recording some outside in good light? What settings are you using?
Thnak you for your helpful video. I tried to paste some of videos and photos rom my camera to the computer and then deleted the files from the camera folder so that I would have more space in my camera sd card. . but after I deleted those files, I could see many files in the album in the camera had a error message "Unable to disply" I don't know what to do😣 I thought It was gonna be gone clearly from the sd card. but still looks messy because of all the error messages.
And I’m also wondering why there are 2 M4ROOT file under PRIVATE folder.
One is under PRIVATE>M4ROOT. In this file, there are just few videos. And the other M4ROOT is in the PRIVATE>SONY > all the videos are here.
What should I use to access to my all the videos in the sd card?
You ever get an issue if you move the XML and the file, but the camera has another database XML so it thinks the file is still there. When you go to playback on the camera, you can go to the file but it says "unable to display."? I don't know how to resolve this without formatting the SD card
Thanks for the video, very helpful. I just got a Sony A74 and the videos I shoot won't open on my Mac or PC. I use FCPX for videos and my old camera (A73) took videos that I could load on my external hard drive and preview them straight away. Any thoughts? Do I need to convert all my video files? Thanks again
Hi Double B I hope you find out what to do.
I have the same problem and I can’t find the Answer anywhere🤯
What did you do ? Do I have to download anything on my MacBook Pro ?
Is there a sandisk reader/hard drive for MAC? I am traveling and hoping to back my photos up to multiple places. I have been reading that many of these drives need to be formatted for MAC which is not intuitive. TIA
Hi I have a sony alpha nex 7 camera and a Dell with MicroSoft 11. It has just 2 ports, neither of which I can put an SD Card in. Any suggestions what I need to get in order to transfer pictures from my 64 gb SD cards from camera to computer? I'm pretty naieve about these things and just learning of my computer as well as camera...
Hi , I am new to A7iv . All pictures looking good in cemera . But after transfer to PC all looks over white shade . What is the issue? Please advice. Thank you
is it possible to transfer videos from camera to mac over wifi? I'm trying to automate the video transfer process but can't seem to find an option.
This may help others:
If I plug my SD card into my Mac and import via LR it can take up to 2 or more hours to import thousands of photos (I'm a wedding photographer but I also have photos from a second shooter to import as well).
If I copy from SD cards to a drive (which takes 10 minutes or so to copy)... then open LR and import from the 'drive', it takes another 10 minutes or so. For me, letting LR import the photos from the SD cards is incredibly slow when you have an extreme amount of photos.
Good to know, and yeah if you have that many photos it's probably best to just copy them over and import after the fact "keeping in location"... When importing thru Lightroom it reads all the files first, which can take a while to your point which is probably what is slowing it down for you. Thanks again for the comments and tips!! Jay
Not wrong
How do I. view my videos? what software would you recommend?
Are you making an FX3 firmware 2.0 tutorial including installing, luts features etc? Thx
Not personally, but I have an article here that covers all that via my friends videos… I don’t have fx3 in hand anymore… www.sonyalphalab.com/sony-fx3-firmware-update-its-awesome-and-how-to-install/
What if you don’t have a cable is it possible to transfer it ?
Hi Jason, i shot my first videos today but I'm having trouble downloading them to my imac. When I plug it in using the usb cable iphotos opens up as per usual I can't locate the mpg files.... the page is blank. In your tutorial I don't see anything like you have shown, just iphotos. What am I doing wrong please?
Thank you! Do you have a video that shows how to change the name of the files to represent the camera?
I show that in my beginners guide which is still in production... You're talking about the camera name itself, or the video and photo files themselves?
@@Jason_Hermann I will checkout that video. Talking about the files so you know which camera they came from. Thanks
@@sylviastagg-giuliano6229 Yeah, you can do that and I show you in the Beginners Guide ;) Stay tuned, because I'm almost done time-stamping all the topics... It should be up within the hour!!
i been searching for a while now, i have a sony HDR CX110 handycam, and it has a buncha old photos that ive been dying to transfer to my macbook, but i cant find any cables that i can use to transfer it to my macbook pro, so if anyone has any idea of where to find the right cable pleaseeee help me🙏
Is there an internal memory on this camera? and if so, is it possible to get the pictures off of it?
Can you do one for a Sony a6000 camera
Thanks. Great videos. Do you use iCloud on the desktop or just in Finder?
I only use iCloud to back up my contacts, Calendars, and messages... The computer does it automatically
can i transfer 4k 120ps videos with this cable?
I have tested imported video files, but android can show video from a7iv. But i only get blank black video with audio. So it's not compatible, even using VLC. I don't know which option I should select but they are probably not supported anyways. I know the files ar enot corrupted as they work on Pc.
Can you put in imovie and lumafusion?
How about the sub folder?
What cable would you use for a Sony ZV- E10?
same question??
It would be the same. Micro hdmi to hdmi or micro hdmi to a compatible hdmi dongle if your pc or laptop doesnt have an hdmi input
At time 4:48 you say, “You can auto import if you’re using Lightroom or iPhoto for example”. Did you notice all RAW files in your video don’t display a thumbnail in Finder? How do solve for using (displaying) RAW files from A7-IV on MacOS? And how do you get A7-IV RAW files to work in iPhoto?
this is what i need help with
Do I need to format the card or do anything special? (a6400 sd card to MacBook m3 pro)
No you don't have to. I usually format the memory card in the camera when it's starting to get full, so I have an extra backup of the photos just encase.
Hello,
Can you use just a hard drive external to save videos in it from the camera or does it have to be an ssd external? Will there be a difference?
Do mean like recording directly to an external solid state drive? Haaa
Can I transfer videos from fx3 to iPhone
This sony system is so non-intuitive lmao. Great video. Thanks a lot
when l connect with the cable to pc the message l get on my camera is 'to start USB streaming unplug the usb cable . Execute USB streaming function before connecting USB cable. I have no idea how to download photos. Ive tries taking out the SD card and it's not showing any photos. Im so frustrated now
Wondered what those .XML files were cluttering my SD card. Thanks! Does any software look into those XML files once they are on my PC or is it up to me to open them for some reason? I use DaVinci Resolve for video editing, and for photos Affinity Photo, On1 Photo Raw, and Luminar Neo. Does the Sony a7IV use them to retrieve data or does it create them and forget them? I heard you say save them, but even though they are tiny, it is still a bit of a nuisance. I'm trying to determine my risk factor in deleting them. 😂 Thanks again.
I think the Giro data might be in those .xml files which Catalyst uses for stabilization, but I could be wrong... Otherwise you do not need them from what I can tell. I usually don't copy them off the card these days for reference.
my camera dont show this option live stream image transfer ..... what i can do. I use orginal cabel from sony. i tried macbook and windows both not works
i have a lot of my raw file unavaible to preview how can i bypass it?
On most newer Sony cameras, can I leave it plugged into my computer, record, and then the files will just show up after they are recorded? Or will the camera not let me record while it's plugged in in this mode?
Hi Ryan, you can record videos while plugged into the computer if using tether mode via the imagine edge desktop app, but they will be recorded to the camera's memory card. You can have the camera plugged into a charger, but not connected via usb for regular file transfers while recording. You need to tether for that w/ PC Remote enabled in the camera as well which you can see here: ruclips.net/video/KuhvEMd2ghk/видео.html
@@Jason_Hermann Great intel. Thanks!
will this work the same when we use CF express card type A from A7iv ?
As far as I know, yes.
Do I have to delete the original videos on the SD card after, since it copied over to the SSD?
Ultimately yes, the camera will not write over the files. Once you have everything saved and archived if you do that sort of thing, then I would highly recommend formatting the memory card in the camera and not on the computer!
What type of information does xml file have?
Hey Jason, I clicked through the link supplied for the cable and it did not seem to have the transfer rate you show in the video (5A 10 GBPS) it shows 3A 480MBps. Am I missing something? I am trying to use an a7r II with an M1 MacBook
That cable linked is fine, because the A7R II can't transfer at the faster 10 GB speeds anyway. The other cable is made by Anker and is very expensive, plus you don't need it for your camera...
Usually after importing, would you delete all the files from the SD Card?
I delete the files on the SD card by formatting it using the camera only. This is the only way I do it and would recommend that method.
When I import the Raw photo files into LR - there is no preview files. LR will import the photo files but I can't see the photos before the import. I have the most up to date version of LR. This happens on my desktop iMac and my MacBook. Is this a common issue with a74 raw files?
That is odd that there is no preview option? I had a preview when importing... Are you plugging the card right in or using a cable to the camera?
@@Jason_Hermann using the card to import on both my iMac and MacBook. I’ve never used the cable.
