    This version of the game lines up with what Scott had said in the interview about only communicating what items go where, when the game changed to a more narrative experience with Ray, they tried to fill in the gaps. In a more sandbox-y game even visions of Burntrap would’ve been more fitting

      @@mr.penguindrewmateo8146 There actually exists a pre-release version of FNAF SB (a version that was leaked on PlayStation). The version of the game is set 2 weeks before the full release. And surprisingly, the Blob, or Tangle or whatever it's name is, doesn't exist in this version yet. Nor does the ending Burntrap cutscene.
      So my guess would be that The Blob was something that was added as an idea WAAAAAY later in the development, and it probably wasn't in the original version.

    • @3myr08
      @3myr08 27 дней назад +3

      I can understand how you’d think the story is disappointing because of what Scott said but just because it’s not the same as it used to be doesn’t mean it’s bad.
      Imo it was really good and the way the story was told is perfect for future free roam FNAF games. The main storyline of a lost boy trying to escape the pizzaplex is pretty straightforward and enjoyable for anyone who isn’t into FNAF or anyone who doesn’t like to bother about theorising. And THEN all of the hidden secrets and other optional stuff you can do is the stuff that is necessary to theorise about to truly understand everything.
      In terms of gameplay it was amazing and the pinnacle of FNAF gameplay imo. The stealth is very well designed and intricate, and even when you get to parts like Fazcade that become extremely hard to stealth, you don’t need to because you already have the Fazerblaster or Fazcam so you’re rewarded for your efforts. The only reason no one sees it this way is because literally no one played the game properly like you’re supposed to.
      Also considering the bugs, you can’t speak about them unless you’ve actually played the game. I don’t know if you have or not but each experience is different from person to person and judging the game’s buginess because of literally just 1 or 2 youtubers is EXTREMELY unfair. I don’t know why everyone says it’s so buggy even when they DO look at youtubers’ playthroughs.
      Even people who had “really buggy experiences” like Markiplier didn’t even have that much game-breaking bugs. Yeah there were lots of small little bugs that he had, but he didn’t have that much huge game-breaking bugs, and the ones he did have were mainly in the overtime section of the game which was already fixed in the first major patch anyway. Almost every other youtuber had a pretty stable experience, most of the ones who didn’t were the ones intentionally trying to break the game and succeeding.
      Also about Ruin I feel like this backs up my idea that FNAF fans either want a game with extremely arcadey gameplay or an extremely narrative game. Anything in between is bad in their eyes. Ruin backs this up because not only is it just a find random objects and do simple puzzles simulator (still really enjoyed it though), aka basically a kind of walking sim, it was also more buggy than the base game. The entire Monty in the water section just didn’t work, Monty’s AI there was completely broken, and same with the Mimic chase at the end in the secret ending whenever he wears the costume.
      People just didn’t notice because they were distracted by the story and the experience.

    I think you’re spot on, and I don’t think what Scott said disproves it at all. It sounds like he gave them vague instructions, and they went one direction that spiraled into what we got.

    I might be blabbering nonsense here, but in defense of the Jekyll and Heyde persona people thought Vanessa would’ve had, I’d like to point to the movie. That interpretation of Vanessa wants to be better but is held back due to basically being William’s servant. That could also be applied to the fan interpretation of Vanessa from the trailers, wanting to help Gregory, but being forced to be William’s Servant as Vanny. I think this theory gains more credibility when taking into account that the movie script was finished(ish) in late 2019, which would be early in Security Breach’s development. Still idk, could be complete coincidence.

    Scott said that his vague clip note statements to Steelwool were heavily misinterpreted & or just straight up misunderstood.
    Resulting in a very messy & incoherent story, since Security Breaches buggy release with a story that was basically just word salad to get you from one stage to the next Scott’s not going to be so vague & just straight up tell them what his plans are with the newer Steelwool FNAF projects going forward. The Ruin DLC was a first step in this new direction..

  • @FTZPLTC
    @FTZPLTC 29 дней назад +19

    I think it's quite likely that new project management being brought in changed the direction - or maybe more likely narrowed the scope - of the game. It's not hard to imagine that the game was suffering from "mission creep"; in fact I think I remember Scott saying something like that - that the devs kept coming up with more and more ideas that were making the game bigger and bigger. It's quite common when you're dealing with creative people, flexible deadlines, etc., to end up with something bloated and half-finished. They needed the leadership that it takes to actually get something playable released.
    It's why I don't set too much score by "cut content". I think it's quite likely that a lot of what was cut was actually just stuff that was being made because decisions about the game's direction hadn't been made. There's always going to be lots of additional dialogue lines written/recorded, for example, because it's easier to write and record more than write and record less and then have to add more in later.

  • @3DFella
    @3DFella 27 дней назад +11

    If SteelWool always intended Security Breach to come out the way it did, then honestly? I actually think they’re straight up scummy. The trailers basically become false advertising at that point, hyping up a main villain who was never intended to be present in the game, with storybeats that are rarely if ever brought up again, advertising a horrific scenario of a kid hiding from a murderer who just killed all his friends, which straight up never happens ingame or in the games lore. You can argue Vannys trailer lines were just meant to be luring and nothing more, but she alludes to events that happened in the “trailer” story that didn’t become a thing in the final game like “I lost my temper earlier” and all that. The tone of the earlier trailers is super misleading as to what the game actually is. Honestly I don’t think it’s false advertising from a legal perspective but on a purely moral basis I do find it scummy and consider it false advertising.

The interview was a great way to get some, but what do we only get this opportunity every 5 years? I just hope this franchise can head in a direction with a little more integrity as it currently is, otherwise it can run itself into the ground with old heads and new heads clashing.

      Yeah needless to say Scott has never been the best at admitting when he's wrong, it's part of what frustrated me so much with the series. If you actually look at what Scott dies it's clear he's incredibly insecure about his writing. an update from the post
    BOO! SCARY INTERVIEW REVELATIONS
    So you've heard the interview and how Scott mentioned having a bigger story in mind. But here's my take on it: IT WAS IN HIS MIND. He says that he gave Steel Wool a bunch of details to include in the game, which they unknowingly expanded on, connecting the dots and ruining their original meaning. It implies that the story Scott was speaking of was not told directly, but rather implied via random easter eggs and set pieces found throughout the place.
    Ray McCaffrey mentioned in the interview [with dawko] how Scott would send the studio unexplained items and ask them to add them in. One such example are confirmed to be the arcade games by Scott's personal former artist LadyFiszi, depicting stylized characters from FNaF books and games. Those arcades are later mentioned within the Tales from the Pizzaplex book series, which was being written as far back as 2019. Meaning Scott planted those arcades in the game to make connections with the media that's meant to come out further down the line.
    Who knows how many of those unexplained details did Steel Wool accidentally connect? My theory is that at least a couple of them are the post-its seen in the Sewers and the retro CDs. It also appears that Burntrap probably never had a boss fight, given that everything that happens there was Steel Wool's vision, which Scott never verified. He wanted Burntrap to never move, which is an odd detail. Was he even supposed to be real?
    What I have to say about the old story is this:
    Given that it was not told directly to Steel Wool, it co-existed with the Sandbox Cut as a set of easter eggs to be added later into development. Scott did a similar thing to Help Wanted where the game was originally just a lineup of minigames before Scott poured some of his magic. According to Scott, his "big story" of SB is still in the game, just misrepresented.
    The players were intended to piece the details in their heads, instead of being told of the events directly. Which is what Steel Wool attempted to use them for, thinking that's what Scott wanted from them. And they misjudged.
    I also believe the story Scott had in mind was told by the Tales from the Pizzaplex, as they seem to intertwine with these random details from the game: for instance, the player GGY from the arcade cabinets referencing the story of the same name where Gregory is revealed to previously be evil or possessed by Glitchtrap. He set the events of Security Breach as well as Retro CDs in motion, confirming that he was the villainous Patient 46 responsible for the murder of his school counselors/therapists.
    Not to mention the Mimic, who is a looming presence within the Pizzaplex arc, but was never mentioned within the game until RUIN. I don't think Steel Wool were ever told about him and I believe it was a twist to eventually be revealed. People argue that the post-it notes imply his origins. But the rest is mystery, so who knows?

    My biggest issue with Security Breach is that it fails to execute its core gameplay premise. I'm not talking about the lore or the map. I'm just talking about the gameplay itself. Now in the long term that didn't work out, most likely I suspect because he couldn't find a successor although Security Breach's reception certainly didn't help. But in the short term, if the radio silence we saw on the little social media Scott has was anything to go by combined with the potential miscommunication, there's a decent chance that Scott stopped being involved in the project entirely leaving Steel Wool to pick up the pieces. No wonder Burntrap turned out the way it did.

I don't think the developers intended to deceive players into thinking the game would have the content of the trailer, but personally I feel deceived.

    This video was actually very interesting: And yes, I know exactly what you mean you were talking about what was in the actual game as opposed to the story that Scott originally had in mind; and I find it very interesting that he is in a roundabout way saying that he was not responsible for the debacle that security breach became.
    And honestly, steel Wool Studios owes the FNAF fan community many things, not least of which is an actual happy ending to the game: for between them not only continuing, but also doubling down on their bullshit; including having horrible things happen and forcing the player to do horrible things to sentient innocent instantly loveable child friendly characters: while at the same time, focussing their advertising and marketing of the game towards children: until Steel Wool Studios gets their metaphorical shit together and cleans up the mess that they have made by redoing everything so that there is at least an actual canonical happy ending where the player frees and saves the glamrock animatronics instead: I will be boycotting the FNAF franchise in its entirety: and I ask and encourage everybody reading this to please do the same…
    Also, I’ll just say that even before they had decided to continue with their shit show; I had sent Steel wool Studios several emails asking them to make such an actual happy ending in which nothing horrible happens to any of the glamrock animatronics; the pizzaplex is left intact; and the player frees and saves them instead: and that if anyone else reading this would like to send them an email as well; all the needs to do is go to the contact section of their website.
    Also; not only but especially because I have a severe disability myself; I do not appreciate them trying to use disability as some form of sick entertainment or joke: and they not only need to apologize for knowingly making and releasing content that they know full well is traumatic especially, for children, but also for this as well, if they are ever truly going to correct themselves; and the situation generally.
    To end with something positive; this is one of the best fan videos I have ever seen depicting such an actual happy ending to the game:

    This puts a lot of things into perspective for me and does help me understand all of these oddities in SB. I think for me SB is more of a let down in expectations and what it could've been. (Not helped by the fact that I am not satisfied with SB's gameplay) I feel like there could have been so many interesting ideas put into this game, but it doesn't seem like those thoughts were ever in the creators minds. And while I can appreciate them shifting to be more story focused, I still grieve over never getting survival mode.

    So you just glanced over things that would counter you points like "if a place exists where something happens in the final game that means that thing was always meant to happen" for example you show vanessa wlaking in front off freddys room but theres no context to that for all we know there could have been different dialouge, and vannessa wasnt playeable bc she is talkingto herself ok i guess but why does she have sounds for her movements then? If freddy wasnt meant to betray you why do the voices perfectly line up for freddy to be "hurt" by the other robots, him telling gregory to run, gregor, crying and then freddy hunting him? But ig it doesnt matter bc he has a searching animation...

      well, why else would lost/found exist otherwise? plus the tutorial is like one of the earliest things added to the game, so the context is the unchanged as well, since the map and the files all suggest the same tutorial, not to mention that the tutorial teaches you the cut mechanics. Also freddy's voice lines from fazer blast and evil freddy's lines are literally 40 files apart from each other, they are not from the same event.

      @@croissantknight5864 Why does chicas bakery or the glamrock salon exist even tho you arent required to go there? Worldbuilding. But i also think the leftover lift with buttons suggests that you WERE supposed to be able to use it at some point. The pizzaplex is supposed to be a believable place and if 90% of it wasnt cut it would be tbh but there are still places that are there for the place to feel real. about the tutorial part, you can see in the trailer that it was supposed to take place in the bigger basement and in the final games lobby theres an unused door and corridor in the wall right next to where you normaly get to the closing door so it would have played out totaly differently (my theory is that where in the final game where freddy goes to recharge for the first time you would have gone towards fazerblast that was fenced off in the final game) so it was probably totaly different to the 10 second chase we got. And one final thing is that you mentioned that the story was always meant to be as in the final game mkre or less but there are places in the FINAL map where you never go but steelwool clearly started working on them like the upper part of roxy raceway where theres already bathrooms, flashlight chargers and a working camera

      @@Thedawg2604 chica's bakery and glamrock salon were a part of the princess quest ending, since they store the arcades. plus they have upgrades inside
      the upper part of roxy racers has a bathroom intended for vanny's transformation.
      and the chase at the start of the night did not change either, if the technical artist's demo is to believe. they just redesigned the corridor making it more narrow so you can't juke monty. we most definitely would not have gone to fazer blast at the start of the night, because that fenced off part used to be a gate for monty claws. plus it leads straight to Vanny's hideout, so us going there at the start of the night is unlikely.

      @@Thedawg2604 as for the lift, sure, you could use it to quick travel between lobby and prize counter. that wasn't the point. the problem is that in the scene with vanessa we see it PASS prize counter, implying a fourth floor that never existed, which means the scene would never occur in gameplay and was made solely for the trailer

      @@croissantknight5864 but it wasnt redesigned, you can see a bit more of that part of the map in an extended version of that monty scene and it aligns with the bigger i would guess "main" corridors, it also would make sense bc them you could have arrived to the same office and staircase part just from where chica teleports in from in the final game where theres a level 12 security door for some reason? also you still didnt talk anything about vanessa having all voice lines for walking jumping etc. That would HIGHLY suggest she would have at least done more in the game then walk around in 3 places

    I don't know if it ended up being true or not. But i 100% remember there being drama caused because of it once it was revealed.
