Track Racer TR8 Pro - Hybrid sim mounting solutions

- Uploading this in case it helps out with figuring out setting up a hybrid rig for both racing and flying with the TR8 Pro from Track Racer. I'm just passionate about this stuff and found it hard to come by solutions online so I hope this helps if you already own a TR8/TR8 Pro.
As I mention in the vid though, if you're considering this over an aluminium frame as I did maybe opt for the aluminium. They're a lot more customizable although to be fair to Track Racer they do offer a lot of accessories (including a slider for the pedal tray soon hopefully). Personally, I chose this frame due to ease of assembly and thought it looked pretty cool. It's also super solid with no noticeable flex when racing.
In the end after getting info online and a bit of tinkering I got this set up.

I have mostly the same setup. Same rig, pedals and shakers. You can mount the pedal shaker directly underneath where you have it now. Upside down, works great
Nice video. I purchased the TR8 Pro last year for sim racing. I just added extra shifter mounts on both sides for my VKB Gunfighter IV and Virpil CM3 throttle, very similar to your setup. The issue I'm having is trying to mount my Virpil Rudder pedals with my Moza CRP pedals. I'm thinking about buying another pedal plate and attaching my Rudders to it, then swap the racing pedals plate when I fly. The Track Racer site is a pain trying to find the right pedal plates.
@@scottydvintagevideos i'd be too lazy for that lol. So just propping mine against my car pedals works. I actually recently got the sliding pedal tray but have yet to install it. That might allow me to put the rudders as far back as possible. But yeh, it can be tricky to find the right stuff on their site. Love the real life, honest review! How does this frame work with shorter people? I'm 5'6" (168cm) and want to make sure the wheel won't be mounted too high/ pedals and wheel too far away. I love the look of this frame when compared to the extrusion frames, but I worry most about the wheel height since the baseplate cannot be adjusted.
Flipping it drops it actually (the wheel base mount). Pedals can be closer but it might make adding the rudder pedals tougher or at worst more of an upright position. Also u can use racing pedals as rudders (using clutch and gas). Trackracer are releasing a pedal mount slider at some point, they said. Wanna get that for my gf, she's around 160cm.
@@AlexRanedodoes flipping the wheel mount do you have to switch the sides that are holding the wheel mount ? Or leave them as is ? Thanks

Heya, thanks! Comments below about the mounting. I basically flipped it. Limits it in some ways (angle), but works good for me. Another idea I got online someplace. Plan with this vid was just to group the various suggestions. Hmm, if I still have links maybe I should add them. Anyway, check below and good luck! Just getting into MP sim racing (AmS2 and ACC). How is the seat for formula style racing? been looking at getting this but not for sure i want the formula seat!
Haven't experienced any different from this seat myself but I love it personally. Open wheelers are a blast in VR too. Also, of course you can adjust the seat angle. I've mine somehwere between GT and formula I think.
How did u mount the gt dd like that?
Another hack I got someplace, you flip the dd base mount upside down. May not work with all bases, size wise, but does so neatly with the Fanatec csl dd
I have the grand turismo dd like yours, so u just need to put the mount upside down? There are no difficulties or whatsoever (does everything fit together)?
If the GT DD is same width or less as the CSL DD it'll fit in fine.

Do you remember or can you try, approx how tall the smallest person you recommend is? Is it suitable for my 140cm child? The Trak racer wrote that it is suitable from120cm, but I'm afraid only because of the sale.
Hard to say exactly but the pedal tray all the way toward them and seat forward should be fine. I've dealt with custoner service. They're very good and honest so don't be afraid to reach out to them. Oh, and when you do, ask about a pedal tray slider. They say they're working on a slider (they also said the one for the TR8 could work. I've got the TR8 PRO). The slider is the key missing area. Of course you can unscrew 6 bolts and adjust but each time. Hermph...ask them anyway and mention it. The more of us that do, the quicker they'll push the release of one. But yeh, u should be fine. Don't forget the wheel nount DOES have a slider
