The "official" valheim+ has been unsupported for over a year. I wish these paid dedicated servers would stop being like "just click valheim+". It ain't that easy and that's not what's happening in the background. How about a proper walkthrough of how to modify and upload server-specific configs and .dlls, as well as server startup and shutdown procedures to prevent undesirable third-party process interaction

Watched the video but, I have 1 question. Do i absolutely need to get Valhiem Plus to install any mods? The ones I want to use are not compatible with Valhiem plus.
Does this have to be done for just having your friend join? we both use Vortex and downloaded the same mods but when he joined my game everything to him was invisible.
The server has to have the mods downloaded so it knows what to show your friend. Because if each of you only have mods downloaded client side (which wont travel through the server) then each of you can build stuff that will always be invisible to the other even if its the same item. The server its self has to know what it is to show the others on the server. Does that make sense to you?

Such a hassle. I have a friend who refuses to do mods because he is afraid it will corrupt his files. Whereas me and my brother want to use them. I was hoping we could rent a server and add a few to it and everyone just join with doing anything on their end...

Why the fuck can I not find out how to add mods for my peer to peer server why am I only finding actual online servers I just want to host my game and have my brother have access to the mods I do
@@kylemassey8590 No from what I gather some mods are forced to sync in their setting otherwise I have to keep sending my brother and cousin my profile code to copy everything I change.
You install mods client side. Your friends/brother install mods client side. He joins your game.. that's about it. I mean unless you're talking about the Steam hosted server. Which I can also help with.. but from what I'm getting is, your fix is what i just posted.
Here is the thing about modded vahiem I learned the hard way. Steam does not suuport modded mulitplayer vahleim. The only mod you will be able to play on vahiem with your buddies is valhiem plus. Nothing else works at the moment of this comment. I tried just the raft mod and no shot. Hopefully this changes soon but I doubt it.
I have Valheim from Steam and play multiplayer with almost 20 different mods atm. I'm not sure why you think Steam support is needed but it's not, you just need to have the BepInEx framework installed first and know which folders to place your mods in.

Things that affect your graphics like HD textures would be a client side install, not one you'd install on a server.

Some mods are just local. For exemple a mod that just improve the textures don't need to be installed on a server

you crazy bro. we run like 29 mods with 5 or so people playing pretty regular. thunderstore mod manager is life bud.
