I followed these steps but towards the end I have a hiccup. When i try to open the bipenex folder once its in valheim i cant get the bepinex/plug in folder to show up. The video says to open the game but that hasnt changed anything for me. I tried opening through that folder, through steam, through razer cortex, and tried restarting my laptop and nothing worked. Do you have any ideas?
Edit: I got it working. It seems the BepInEx download did not have all the files needed. I downloaded it from Nexus (denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim-5.4.1600) and added that one an it added the plugin folder.
Trying to get working client side. Got X64 latest version of BepinEx in the games directory run the game then close the game and it is not creating the necessary folders for mods.
@@romanguerrero9374 I dont know if manually creating folders will help, but i found a workaround by coping bepinex folder created in different location by r2modman (some sort of mod manager), so far it seams to work just fine though it's just a couple of hours
take not of the difference between "client side" and "server side" mods. client side means the mods will only work locally on your computer. no one else will. server side means it has an effect on the entire server and anyone in it. :)

Depends on the mod really. Some mods work on the client side (UI changes n stuff) Others need server side as well - like teleporting through the portal with no teleport items and things like that.
So does that mean that the client (player) needs to install each mods installed on the Dedicated server or does the Dedicated server install the mods to the player ? Kinda like ark with mods on steam???

this also happened to me , soo I deleted all the files inside Bepinex folder except the core folder and ran the game after the plugin folder has been created , i added the mod files to that plugins folder this worked for me , hope this helps
Depends on what mod it is, most cases no but if it's something that the server itself controls like drop chances, then yes. It's safer to just have it installed in all clients and the server
Does this work on GPortal dedicated servers? Because apparently they run their servers on Linux. Also, when doing this, should I copy all my files and put them in another folder in case anything goes wrong?
There's many issue with this tutorial. First windows likes to lock dlls by default and you forgot to mention that. The most time efficient way to solve that issue is to unlock the entire rar folder BEFORE extracting or else you have to manually unlock every single dll in the entire folder for it to work. Second the video references the wrong version of BepInEX for Valheim and this video is specifically trying to show that game off. Third even if I fix these issues myself BepInEx just doesn't work anyway and refuses to load. If it helps to solve the issue BepInEx is just refusing to create it's plugins folder right now.
@@TroubleChute After looking it up Windows 10 also blocks dlls downloaded from the internet. So ya this should be included in any tutorial involving them. It part of the process these days.

You would have to enable every single one of those manually if you didn't enable it in the rar properties screen before extracting it... or more realistically delete the entire thing if you did so afterwards to make it actually work.

So i added this to my server but for some reason its not loading it at all followed all the instruction but not working
this also happened to me , soo I deleted all the files inside Bepinex folder except the core folder and ran the game
after the plugin folder has been created , i added the mod files to that plugins folder
