JC CHIP METHOD - How To Troubleshot & Fix TrueDepth Camera Failed with New Dot Projector IC

- Here's a step by step guide on how to fix the TrueDepth Camera and Face ID on an iPhone 11, using the new JC Dot Projector Special IC. This new method allows you to use 1 universal IC for most all iPhone models.
You no longer need to replace the flex. You don't need to stock unique flex per model. Just 1 IC to handle them all and JC V1S Programmer.
I also walk through on how to use the JC Repair Assistant & 3u Tools to troubleshoot & diagnose Face ID issues.

Great video Jessie. I had truedepth prompt after repair the prompt disappeared. Dot projector gets pass when tested but doesnt light up when trying to use it. Also portrait mode gets move further away prompt. Do you think this chip method could fix the issue?

Hey Jesse, great video. I downloaded JCID as I watched (I'm pretty new to in-depth repairs) and my working iPhone 14 and iPhone 11 pro aren't being detected by the software (Windows recognizes both devices). Any ideas why? Thanks, Lewis.

You need the original front camera unit, specifically the dot projector and the infrared camera.
Is the phone directly connected to the computer and can be read by the software or does it need to be plugged into a JC board first?
Yes direct connection works.

Hi boss, I have a question, my phone has the truedepth camera error, so from watching this video I test my phone with the jc software and my distsens and ambient light can’t be read so I checked my earpiece speaker and realized the flex was damaged, I fixed it with jumper wire and I’m pretty sure it’s intact, I put it back in my phone, it still can’t be read, I tried updating, it still won’t show up,
Do I need to restore to make it work?
There is problem with the jumper. best to swap to a new flex

You have to pop the sensor out of the metal housing through the side. You don't cut any shields.

you probably damaged the ALS sensors on the top of the screen.

When I tried the method in this video, the IIC malfunctioned as well. Since I did not have a spare chip, I replaced it with a JC-Flex cable and it did not work correctly. Is this due to the fact that I replaced the cable? Is there a solution to this problem? Also, why can't I copy the data from the original flex cable?
If you read the original data before messing with it, then you can just write the data to the new JC flex and everything should work.
It's not the flex you're originally reading data from. It's the sensor

I haven't found one. But yes, people use super glue as well for this

@@VCCBoardRepairs thanks jesse i've fixed 3 dot projectors using this method and your advice, getting faster every time! one thing i did notice: when using the alignment jig the lattice alignment can still be WAY off, i think the little cutout that looks like the back of the dot projector should fit snugly in and make you think it is centered ready for glue might not be for that purpose?
i ended up using it as more of a vise that just applies pressure and lets you move the lattice around then keeps it in place, seems to work well for that!
also, a video on replacing just the camera would be nice. 2 of my repairs were from water damage and the front camera lens had water behind it and needed replacing, not sure if i am doing it the correct way!
Jesse, thank you so much! You confirmed my suggestion about flashing with detached iR-camera. I had the same issue when was playing with nand.
I have a couple questions:
1. Can you please do the video about case of lost original data of Dot Projector. What if this JC chip goes bad, what then? You won't be able to read data.
2. Does orginal Dot flex cable (just the cable without dot module) contain any data? I have an iPhone with torn Dot flex and I just want to transfer Dot module to new OEM flex. Will it work?
3. Could you make a video about restore TrueTone and Face ID without original screen/reciever flex. JC has special receiver flexes. As I know you'll need to desolder nand and do parts unbind with P13. Would be great if you show the process.

1. Yes you can recover it by unbind through NAND
2. The OEM flex contains nothing

So on Jc repair assistant if the IR camera is reading but giving me 00000000000000, does that mean it’s my IR camera is messed up and not allowing Face ID?
all zeroes means the phone has been restored without the ir cam plugged in.
plug it in & update or restore and see if the readings come back

It’s not the same one that came with the phone
You can replace the front camera. You will have to flash an update. But Face ID will be lost. No way to fix Face ID

face unlock is not working, send it for repair, and as per the repair person they checked it by connecting to a programmer to fix it but programmer is not able to recognize the true depth camera@@VCCBoardRepairs
