Imagine, in a post-COVID, streaming-dominated environment where theaters were fast losing their existence, Thousands of independent cinemas closed, an R-rated, 3 hr biopic about.. (not a warrior, not a macho man, not a ‘hero’ figure) but a theoretical physicist.. with most of the plot relying on dialogue, went on to earn close to a billion dollars.. Such a cathartic payback! Nolan 🙏🏼
exactly, in a society where everyone needs action and superhero’s flying across the screen to pay attention or even go to the movies, this is a huge deal for a film of this topic to do as well as it did
Crazy that the only times he’s been given main character roles, he’s put up all time performances. I’d put Thomas Shelby up there with any performance I’ve seen on tv and movies period.
And it would be historic! First Irish Actor to win an Oscar for best actor and also he will probably be the only non American nominee this year. From a small village in Ireland to the Oscar it would be quite a dream!

I have been questioning the quality of the awards given by the Academy in the past few years, but if Cillian Murphy doesn’t win the Oscar for Oppenheimer they really have lost any faith I might still have for the institution to award craftsmanship and art and not agenda or politics.
ok yeah the best picture and all of that's it's a masterpiece yes yes but my personal favourite part about this is Ludwig's Score. it gently guided you through the harrowing runtime and it's so beautiful and mesmerising that it really represents oppenheimer as a whole. it's inspiring beautiful artistic and just really incredible but it also sounds menacing and slightly overwhelming, leading to a stretch of emotions only really a film can create. that's exactly what the movie is, whilst it's not my personal favourite of the year, it definetly deserves anything it will win and will continue to win by far.

@@encheknizam I think the academy is going to go for Bradley Cooper for Best Lead because he's been nominated 9 times before and has never won, and this year his performance in Maestro is very flashy and big, although i would love Cillian to win because he deserves it. Quality of bringing what was really took place and how an actor lead a scintillating script into great performance and it also displays the beauty of potential because you don't get magnificent movies on the daily basis and if you are to find inspiration than slice the good thing out, and have the dedication inside yourself to put forward something people will say reel, but reel could be astounding than real at times. If that filled you with energy.
If Cillian doesn't win Best Actor it will be one of the biggest snubs in Oscar history. There's a lot of competition for best picture but I haven't seen any other acting performance that matches Cillian. This film largely rested on his performance. I was a bit disappointed with Matt's performance. I know he can do a lot better but he was the one actor that felt like he was just playing a character, not being the character.
Better let this movie sweep the Oscar’s. It deserves best picture, director, actor, supporting actor, editing, cinematography, score and sound.
