Dude, thank you for the time you're putting to theese videos!
Really hope to see this channel and community growing!
I appreciate that!
Brilliant video, thanks for figuring this all out
No problem 👍
Sir,thers is only cycles and eevee in my Material Output node without octane option,if something change in the new version?
Having issues installing octane blender #octanerender #blender3d
i have, for the better part of a year been trying to get octane scattering to work every couple of months. I can consistently get octane scatter to show up if i enable my render preview, then go to octane mesh properties, and remove the scatter material and node, then re assign them. But if i stop the render preview i will have to do this again to get it to show up, and i cannot get it to show up in a final render. The octane discord has never once bothered responding to this question the many times i have tried to ask.
Octane scattering setup versus blenders setups #octanerender #blenderrender3d #octaneblender
I thought it was about performance but I haven't noticed a bit difference between octane's scatter and Gscatter with a similar 50x50 meters plane filled with grass
cool. if i'm not completely wrong, c4d didn't have any proper way to do scattering for a long time and also have those objects being scattered seen as instances to the render. which is why octane probably added this scattering feature because most c4d users use octane and as far as i can remember, i remember seeing all c4d users use this feature for scattering but honestly in 2023 we have geonodes in blender which is like a mini houdini and the first version was made to work with scattering lol. even tho this is cool but I think it would be very counterintuitive to work with and would be a nightmare if you are using a farm to render.
Yes that's true for the C4d guys 🤓👍🏾
Cinema 4D always had a clonner object that was used for scattering, the problem was the performance. Even with instancing at the time most computers couldnt handle a lot of geometry. Otoy figured out a way to instance objects with such good performance they made and shipped the scattering tool with their engine (this is why the slider values start so big when you try to add density). The scattering method might be a little janky, but it should be far more performance oriented and should even perform better lower end pcs. Since it runs so well because they integrated it to work as a part of their engine, you couldn't animate anything that is scattered, so any kind of animation whether its a modifier or a rig shouldnt work, or at least it didn't back in the day.
Another great video. I was wondering about the differences as well. What version of Octane are you using? And what GPU?
Blender plugins like Geo Scatter or even simple Geonodes setups offer much more flexibility. You can't even use vertex maps with Octane scatter. The only advantage of Octane scatter system is that it does not display objects in viewport.
@@TheThebeep I haven't had the need to play with scattering in Octane so far. But I will try the different options when the day comes. Thanks for the feedback,
Ya that's true I didn't realize that good point ☝️🤓🙏🏾
@TheThebeep you can though, you should be able to plug the vertex paint attribute straight into density, even manipulate it with scale as well
can you make a video on vertex map on octane
Thanks for your tutorial. I think the cover of your video differs from your video. 🫤
