- If you watched the live ride video on the two handbuilt Halifax hardcore 29ers, here's the up close and personal tech details I didn't have room to fit into that edit. If you've not watched the live ride review, get on it, it's got Brian from BKXC, some sweet singletrack, some black run battering and a crazy descent off Snowdon. Make sure you watch the factory tour edit too.

A lovely side by side comparison of the orange offerings. Guy showing his unmatched knowledge, skill, and all-round bike tech guruness.
This video is invaluable. Cheers Guy
Getting more excited to ride the stage 5. Brilliant walk-around 👍🏼
Thank you Guy! I have a Clockwork 120 and love it! And when i reach my weight goal, Im looking to buy a Five. Either build or kitted out from Orange.
Thank you for all you do, riding with Brian, and always putting up great informational videos!
Cheers!
Ric Quintanilla thanks fella, good luck with your weight goal, a new bike is an awesome reward. Did you watch the Five review on here? Such a fun bike!
Guy Kesteven yes sir. Ive watched quite a few of your reviews. Thank you for all your hard work!
Helps us that are not able to make it to demo days, make informed decisions.
Keep it up! stonking riding and reviews..
You are like wikipedia for bikes! Great video...
haha thanks Adriano
Awesome video mate. I'm looking at getting a stage 5 off the back of it 👍
Need one of those Fox tool never seen that b4. Will get one of the net soon. Great vid Guy.
No I hadn't seen one until about a year ago but it's just such a neat little piece. Silverfish do them in the UK
Guy Kesteven thank you I have found them on silver fish 👍
Artisan is a great summary. Too many people think they are buying a cool boutique brand that’s mass produced in the Far East. Orange and Cotic all the way for me.
Hi guy, how does the x2 shock perform on the orange, i have an alpine using a monarch rct3. The rct3 feels real harsh at times like it bottoms out or is hitting square edges, ive seen in reviews others saying the same about the monarch, does the X2 feel the same? Or is it just a single pivot frame issue you get this feeling.
Wow, coed y brenin in the sun! Every time I've been it's absolutely pissed it down
Yeah we got super lucky for sure. Still rides great whatever the weather though
Guy Kesteven yeh even though it was soaking there was still plenty of grip and we had an absolute blast!
Hi Guy really loving how your channel is developing since discovering it last year. Getting a new bike for the summer and going to test a Stage 5 as it's on my shortlist. My riding is basically everything you did in your two weeks with BKXC and McTrail. Do you think the Stage 5 would suit, especially for the Scottish stuff?
Thanks so much for the support Graham. The Stage 5 is a great bike for UK riding , but watch the Cotic FlareMax video too if you fancy something homegrown and very characterful. Frame feel is surprisingly similar but suspension feel is totally different.
Thanks for the reply Guy, will check that out too.
Given the single pivot rear, how’s the peddle bob and donkey kick?
The single pivot effect is much less pronounced than the old days, but it's still there in comparison to a super neutral linkage bike.
Where's all that dust from on them bikes? can't be Scotland
ps: fully agree re the Guide brakes; only fault on my on my Stage 4
Guide R are OK, but RS are noticeably better. That dust all over the 6 is from Bike Park Wales the day before, it was crazy dry.
Grate Review Proper engineering Guy grate bikes Orange like Coed Y brenin nice place not far from me ;0)
Great review, I have an original fully rigid clockwork which I love. Think I might have to save a few pennies for one of these, I am originally from Halifax after all
I so nearly ended up with a Clockwork back in the day, but the Dave Yates had more steel in it and I was working for the Forestry Commission back then and whatever I was riding got pretty beaten up! If you're from Halifax originally then you definitely should get yourself a fresh Orange ;-)
BTW did you watch the live ride review?
Yes I loved it, in fact I got to your channel via Brian so going to spend some time going through your back catalogue. I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the 29er if you are of the shorter persuasion (just under5'6"), do they do a frame small enough?
My wife Sarah is 5' 6 and she's always got on really well with 29ers. The roll over benefits are still all the same and bike proportions and perceptions have changed so much recently that nothing 'looks weird' anymore and small bikes work fine with big wheels in terms of handling.
Cool thanks 👍
Must get a Orange.
Lee Bridgwater ....bought an Orange 5 a couple of months ago, I absolutely love it, its more capable than I'll ever be👍
