The reason Vegetto Blue defused was because he wasn’t supposed to be the climax of the fight whereas Gogeta Blue WAS. Every time a fusion is supposed to finish a fight they don’t defuse. Gotenks and SSJ4 Gogeta both defused early because they weren’t supposed to finish the fight. It’s plot.
True, Gogeta doesn't have a power limit like Vegito so it didn't make sense why Ssj4 Gogeta defused. Definitely plot.

Sure, that's the meta reason, but that is not nearly as fun.
Little headcanon is that with the Potara, while the time limit is 1 hour, the fusion can forcefully defuse if you output too much energy all at once. Where as with the Fusion Dance, you have only 30 minutes, but you can output as much power as you want. Sure it doesn't explain Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta defusing against Omega, but still, I think it's more fun to theorize in-universe explanations instead of just going "oh, it's because plot".

Aside from the logic of Broly being so powerful that Gogeta HAD to go Blue in order to beat him, I think for marketing purposes that we needed Gogeta Blue for video games, trading cards, figures, etc. because not too long before the Broly movie was the debut of Vegito Blue in the Goku Black Arc

@MaestroEpicLoser yes if you fail the fusion dance, then you can instantly do it again. If you do the fusion dance properly, then the cool down starts. And yes, gogeta didn't have to use a bunch of power to defeat janemba. Which is why he never saw him defuse on screen

I would be surprised if we don't see Vegito or Gogetia again. Seems like Super is building towards the angelic and destruction forms merging at some point.
That'd be pretty cool. Since Goku is developing ultra instinct as a style instead of a transformation it makes sense Vegito or Gogeta could stack it onto Vegeta's new form.

With what we learned about it in the manga, I now believe Gogeta Blue is superior to UI Goku.
Gogeta Blue was on screen for under 5 minutes in real time so I think that is a pretty strong point in favor of the timing idea.

so gogeta ssb is an entire different level, and probably much stronger than UI goku.
The reason some people think Gogeta didn't need Blue is because once Gogeta uses Blue, Broly doesn't connect a single attack.
I'm serious, go rewatch the movie.
Yeah, the fight seemed mostly even until that point, but once Broly went into Super Saiyan Full Power, he was actually beating Gogeta back, and Gogeta was struggling, but once he went Blue, yeah, Broly never landed a single attack since that point.
He still survived the hits, and gogeta blue is 50x gogeta god so I don’t believe god was enough, consider broly survived the beating like a champ.
@@theultimateawesome5516 Super Saiyan is 50× base and Vegeta still outperformed Broly until he went Wrath form, which is only 10× base. Add a Super Saiyan 50× onto that 10×, then he goes Super Saiyan Full Power which I can only speculate is 10× Super Saiyan as I believe he just added Wrath onto Super Saiyan. So maybe Gogeta didn't even need Blue, but he only went that far so he could finish the fight before Broly grew in power to match him, as he had been doing that entire fight, hell, that entire movie.
You didn't pay attention because before gogeta goes blue he punches berserk broly in the face and broly doesn't move and than punches gogeta in the gut to a physical reaction from him. Full power broly is far beyond ssj gogeta so he did in fact need blue.

I think the reason it seems like Gogeta blue lasted fused longer Vegito blue is because at this point Goku and Vegeta have much better control and experience in ssb in the broly movie compared to them in the Goku black saga. Also in the manga when they fused into vegito blue they didn't show the completed ssb form. It wasn't until after they fused Vegeta knew goku figured out a way to remove the stamina issues of blue

In my mind, the Potara earrings facilitate the transformation and as you know we are FAAAAAR beyond Kai powerlevels which was what they were designed for. So Goku and Vegeta just overload the item, do to there crazy power at this point. While Metamorin may well be inferior in many ways it cant get overloaded because there is no item to overload and its based on can the fused body of the two fighters handle that level of power.
My personal headcanon? Vegetto was well aware of what was going on and had to hold back constantly to prevent destabilization. While Gogetta had no such issues, pure headcanon mind you just assumptions but it makes the most sense to me.
Thats a good theory. It always bugged me that Vegito was "weaker" given that the fusion dance required both people to be equal power levels (hence the stronger person of the 2 needs to hold back.
Your theory gives a pretty decent explanation as to why Gogeta is stronger despite the dance limitations.
@@lololol924 no they don’t. Goku and Vegeta were the same strength naturally, or else the fusion wouldn’t have worked. They ended the TOP saga with Goku not being able to use Ultra Instinct and Vegeta’s SSBE form equals the power of Goku’s SSGSS x20 Kaioken form (most people figured that out or thought Vegeta could even have been stronger). It was officially confirmed that he was the same (talking about SSB Evolution). I think that the Potara fusion was just worse. As for LSSJ2 Kefla, I think LSSJ Broly was stronger. So that says a lot about Gogeta competing against UI.

Time limitations aside, when you compare a fusion dance and a potara fusion, they will either be the same strength or the potatra will be stronger depending on the power difference between the two people.

Majin Vegeta was stronger than SSJ2 Goku, but Goku had SSJ3 so that doesn’t count. I suppose the only time Vegeta was stronger was when he turned into a Great Ape. And actually later when he turned SSJ against Android 19, everyone knew he was stronger and then he became Super Vegeta (but then the next day Goku had mastered Super Saiyan and became a fair bit more powerful than Vegeta).
Okay I guess that doesn’t really matter here. What this official source was saying was (and I heard this in a different video) that Vegito and Gogeta were equally efficient (basically Potara lasts twice as long on paper but fusion dance can deal out more max damage). So Gogeta would probably be too strong for Vegito to last against but if he did, then Gogeta would defuse and Vegito would win. In practice, however, Vegito just will defuse if he pumps out enough power.

Complete Headcannon.
I assumed Potara broke under stress because it's an "inproper" fusion for anyone who isn't a Kai. Any 2 beings could use the potara. Jiren and Yamcha could use them. It's a powerful, yet forced, fusion. So when you release a large amount of energy, it can break a flimsy foundation.
Whereas the fusion dance may be shorter, but because it requires the beings to be at the exact same power level, it's a infinitely more stable fusion, therefore it can withstand the extreme power output far more efficiently.
Edit 1: I read a comment that mentioned that the Potara could break because the item (earings) was under stress while with the dance, there is no item to put under that stress. Only their physical bodies, which we all know can handle the extreme output.

No. What I’m saying is the fact that the Ol Kai was wrong about the whole ‘potara lasts forever’ thing (which it does for Kais but doesn’t for mortals) shows that his statement about the Potara being the best fusion isn’t correct or reliable either. It probably is the case for Kais but for Goku and Vegeta, the fusion dance is just better. Gogeta SSJ4 did have a 10 min time limit but they removed that for SSGSS Gogeta, who is obviously stronger and it’s probably because that wasn’t a good concept. I think Gogeta is definitely stronger than Vegito and it was basically confirmed. As for LSSJ2 Kefla, she isn’t as strong as LSSJ Broly probably & most people think that. So that says a lot about how strong Gogeta Blue is compared to UI.
I believe that they are both equal in power. They are made from the same people after all, it just comes down to the progress of their training.

@@jamircooper4976 no, 3 squared is 9. It’s the same as 3x3. Ignoring that, Potara helps people who aren’t the same strength or a similar height fuse whereas the fusion dance wouldn’t work. But when the users are the same strength and not Kais, then they should use the fusion dance.
What I know is that when the sky turned dark due to shenlok being summoned, broly went full power and almost killed by gogeta in the time that the wish to save him was being said

One is 1 hour, the other is 30 minutes, but they have their own set of parameters.
With Potara Fusion, your base time is 1 hour, but if you output too much power, then the Fusion forcefully defuses because it is unable to handle such strain, especially when the fusees are mortals and not Kai's.
With the Fusion Dance, you only have 30 minutes, but you can power up as much as you want and output as much energy as you can manage as freely as you'd like with no issues.

It always bothered me that Goku and Vegeta never tried fusing during the tournament of power. Kefla proved that using potara earrings was not against the rules. So they could have just asked the supreme Kai for a copy and used those. Or Goku could have had piccolo show Vegeta the fusion dance before the tournament began and the two of them would have been fused for the majority of the tournament. With that kind of power, they probably could have defeated jiren a lot sooner instead of risking it all at the end. I understand the narrative reasons why. Toriyama wanted to make the fight more exciting. He wanted to introduce new transformations like blue evolution and ultra instinct. But from a purely logical perspective, Goku and Vegeta definitely should have fused during the tournament of power.
well that's because first, for plot reasons, second if goku and vegeta has fused, that's right they will be stronger but if they lost, both of them will go out at the same time and not one of them so it's dangerous, goku and vegeta were the 2 most powerful warriors in team 7, if they fused and got defused again, both of them will be considered lost, even if they didn't got beaten up just tine limit, and if time limit is 1 hour and top is less than hour, then you consider it as no time limit but don't forget when vegito uses ssjb, his power will be ran out in minutes and not in an hour due to the power making the time last much faster, so if they fused, consider universe 7 is lost and universe 11 are the winners

I hate the fusion retcons in Super. It made sense that in DBZ the two different types of fusions were inverses of one another. The Fusion Dance created a weaker fused warrior, but there was a time limit so the two characters fused could always return to normal. The Potara Fusion created a stronger fused warrior, but it came at the cost of being a permanent fusion meaning you had to be damn sure you were ready to give up your individuality to achieve such a greater power.
I always assumed, before Super, that the reason Vegito divided back into Goku and Vegeta once they were inside of Majin Buu is due to something mentioned earlier in the Babidi Saga. Babidi stated that Supreme Kai's energy could not be used to revive Buu. Meaning that for whatever reason (We can assume now in Super that it was due to God Ki) the energy of a Supreme Kai does not mix well with Buu's evil/demonic energy. Therefore a fusion created from artifacts of the Supreme Kais, would have probably not mixed well either with the energy inside of Majin Buu and thus this conflict of energies caused the Potara fusion to dissolve. It was basically a rare instance where the fusion was negated that probably wouldn't occur with very many enemies outside of Majin Buu. To me this explanation was way more acceptable than just "Oh yeah, there actually IS a time limit."
I was never bothered by it, personally.
I mean, they defused regardless of what anyone wants to say, it's just that before all we had was theories, so them adding a time limit doesn't really change anything because again, they defused regardless, it just makes Elder Kai seem like a bit of a dunce because he wasn't aware of the limitations with Kais fusing vs Mortals fusing.
I thought that the fusion dance made a stronger person but the downfall was that it didn't last long
@@theboothy91 See I looked at it as a cost/benefit type of thing. You give up more to do Potara fusion. The fusion being permanent is a high cost as you must sacrifice your lives as separate and distinct beings. But because the two individuals made such a huge sacrifice, they end up being rewarded with a much stronger fusion.
Where as with Fusion Dance you don't really sacrifice anything, so the resulting fusion is weaker as a result.
Because of that the Fusion Dance would be the go to method because you create a strong warrior without any sacrifice. BUT if for whatever reason the Fusion Dance isn't enough to get the job done, then Potara Fusion is the last resort. It's basically used at the point where the fighters would say "Ah to hell with it. If we don't stop this guy now, we're going to die. Let's do Potara." It's an overwhelming level of power, but because the sacrifice to use it is so massive, you would only use it as a last resort.
To me that is what made Potara so special and unique and why it was my favorite of the two methods.

I think the fight between Gogeta and Broly ended quicker than Vegito vs Zamasu was because the power gaps were different. Remember, Zamasu is also a Fusion, so he was still relative to Vegito. Broly was no where near Blue Gogeta.
Gogeta with MUI Goku and GoD Vegeta would be an absolute monster now. I like both Broly iterations but I do like how innocent and not evil direction they took here with this Broly

I'm sure Vegito defused because the Potara earrings couldn't handle Vegito's power in SSB. Remember that Vegito does have a power limit. Gogeta doesn't have any restrictions like power limit. That means he can use all of his power for the full 30 minutes without defusing. That makes sense to me.
Ssj gotenks split up after 5 secs of being merged, the same thing can happen to gogeta
The fusion would last less than 10minites because remember Gotenks at ssj3 reduced it to less than 10min if I recall correctly because of the amount of power. Also as stated in the video what would make sense is that gogeta and broly were fighting ridiculously fast which they do in Dragonball. But hey it's all on Toriyama lmao he could change that whenever he wants. But we'll never know unless it's actually stated we can just speculate for now.
@@JGoct25 Yh I think it's good that they changed the time limit to 30 minutes instead of that 10 minutes bs. It makes more sense to be 30 minutes because Fusion Dance has no power limit like Potara Ear rings. So it makes more sense if Gogeta's power doesn't effect the time limit itself. If the Gogeta's power still effects the time limit. It just contradicts the fact that he has no power limit. You understand where I'm getting at.

I just personally like the design of vegito, back In the day I used to think vegito was just the cocky and arrogant one while gogeta was the serious one because of the janemba movie but they're literally the same just with different clothes lmao. At this point I just want them to try something different. I wouldn't mind them going to other characters for a change, like piccolo because the z fighters are still pretty cool and honestly idk how they're going to keep making enemies for Goku and Vegeta and even when they do it just plays out the same as always. Do you think Gogeta could have beaten Broly without going Blue? Obviously Gogeta went Blue for marketing purposes other than what he was meant to do from the script.
SS Gogeta was landing more blows in the beginning, but Broly did indeed seem to get a power-up while in that other dimension. I do think SS Gogeta would've won with a lot of difficulties in the end but decided to turn Blue as to not take any chances and finish the fight quickly.

I'm mentioning this because, in your Mui Goku vs Gogeta blue debate, you concluded that Mui Goku is stronger. Also, in the broly movie, Goku says fusion is the only way to beat Broly after their encounter with only just ssj broly (before his berserk form) So Gogeta Blue is definitely stronger.

7:48 again, I’ll have to disagree with you there. If anything, Gogeta was using less power than Vegito. Gogeta fights for half of the time in SSJ which is far less taxing on the Time Limit and even when he goes Blue he still holds back. Vegito started the fight in Blue and kinda just shat out all of his remaining power with the Final Kamehameha and in the Manga it was implied that Goku and Vegeta not being Kais had something to do with the heavily shortened time limit.

From a story stand point, the idea of Gogeta and Broly entering some sort of new dimension between realities works well because eventually they'll be able to punch through the universal barriers allowing, for example, Goku to access universe 11 to train with Jiren. This would allow them to do this through raw power and negate the need for the Angels to get involved.
from a writers stand point I could understand if they did something like this.

Not sure about everyone, but I for one would like to see Karoly fusion in the future saga of DBS.
If the fans really push to see Karoly it's possible that DBS will give it to us. I can definitely see that happening if Vegeta somehow gets killed in battle and they need fusion to win against a new powerful enemy. In a scenario...Goku can be minutes away from fusion with Gohan...then Whiz steps in and stops them. He gives Goku a new fusion idea because Gohan is not powerful enough to give the fused warrior a chance to defeat this enemy. Whiz insteads tells Goku to go to planet Vampa and fuse with Broly. Judging by how powerful Kelfa was...Ultra Instinct + Legendary Super Saiyan will (in my opinion) rival the power of Gogeta and Vegito. Im not saying Karoly will be stronger because Vegeta is a beast now and maybe has surpassed Broly. Not only is Vegeta has forced spirit fisson...but he has God of Destruction power now...Vegeta is a beast. But i do believe Karoly can rival Gogeta and Vegito in power and definitely can get the job done 👊🏾

But Broly has the most potential than Goku and Vegeta. Just in one fight he surpassed every SSJ transformation and God Ki SSJ forms...without training. With training Broly can EASILY surpassed them again

Well I think the reason Gogeta didn't end early because the fusion dance was made by mortals so it doesn't account for God Ki unlike the earrings so it's most likely that they have more room to stretch when using their power
Yeah. The only times Metamoran fusion ends early is due too an imbalance or drain on its components. Gotenks burnt through all of his energy in SS3 and in GT Goku was too weak and drained from the previous fights to keep up with Vegeta as Gogeta.
3:00 imma have to disagree with you there Geekdom. Gogeta even in Red would have still completely stomped Broly as he did with Blue. Going Blue was more like a safety precaution because he realised how fast Broly was adapting. Even then, Gogeta was still not going all out and was shown that he could’ve killed Broly immediately if he wanted to. When Broly went Full Power SSJ, he wasn’t that much more powerful than SSJ Gogeta so the God multiplier would still be far too large for Broly to overcome if Gogeta went Red.

I remember during fight with merged Zumasu, old jai dated that the reason they defused so early is the earrings couldn’t handle the power output and they reached their limit on stabilizing the fusion the more they raised their energy.
So my guess the reason Gogeta fusion was used is that the fusion is held together by their own power and gogeta can raise his energy output as. I have as desired maybe even breaking a limit without prematurely separating.

Your entire theory gets debunked by the fact that GT isn't canon. You cannot use Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta as an example of overwhelming power running down the time limit, the only example you can use is Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks in the Buu Saga.

Honestly this happens probably more than it should in Dragon ball.
My headcannon for why Gogeta didn't defuse early in universe and Vegito did was because of the advantages of Metamoran fusion over Potara merger. While Potara might be stronger, using the full power of both components rather than equalizing them to the weaker component's full power, it can only handle so much power, due to requiring items to merge. Had Goku and Vegeta used Potara, they likely would've finished the fight sooner, but also would have had to finish it sooner due to the Potara not being as reliable as Metamoran fusion.
Vegito may last twice as long as Gogeta, but Goku and Vegeta need access to Potara earrings, which they may not have on them or be able to get at that time, or they could even be destroyed. However, Metamoran fusion can be done anywhere in like 15 seconds. So while the dance lasts for less time, it's more convenient than the earrings. The 30 minute limit doesn't really matter anyway, since the fusions are strong enough to take down any opponent they're formed against. Unless plot.

The reason you didn’t see Goku & Jiren break into another dimension in the TOP was because they were already fighting in a void that could handle that type of battle.
Then again, there are inconsiderate such as when Goku and Beerus first fought, they couldn’t fight I think for too long or go all out due to the universe feeling it’s affect. Yet you have way more powerful foes after that which that didn’t seem to be an issue anymore.

i dont see anybody talk about it but gogeta actually was nowhere near full power against broly because goku and vegeta werent. vegeta asked goku for senzu beans meaning they both werent full strength and the way the fusion dance works, you have to have equal ki for it to work as seen with goten and trunks. that means that gogeta was fighting at significantly reduced ki and was still able to stomp broly
