The idea of Super Saiyan 4 is just incredible. To go back into the roots of the saiyans utilizing their Great Ape form is genius. Everything from the design to the powers was spot on. Will always be one of my favorite transformations. Count on Geekdom101 to provide us with content for our Saturday! 🙏
I think it came way too late, they even had to come up with the Golden Great Ape to even justify it, since the golden-haired SSj forms already felt more special.
Design and powers? Ok, I hear you on design, but ssj4 didn't have any cool powers. Besides 10X kamehameha which is just recolor kamehameha, ssj4 has no powers that the other SSJ forms don't have.
I still hope they use Brolly in the story as a way to justify an alternative approach to ssj4 and actually have goku or vegeta utilize it.
Just think if he really was 80 or 90 thousand times ssj3 he's going to be atleast ssjb kaioken x20 Jirren arc.
Personally I don't think its that high but the possibility is there, in anycase I firmly believe ssj4 in the GT time line is at bare minimum ssg level which is something most fans won't admit or don't want to believe.
@@smilelydogge2821 incorrect, ssj4 could absorb energy on a massive scale as seen when he faced baby's death ball, also if I'm not mistaken he can adapt to temperature attacks to where they just don't work anymore, either absolute zero or fusion reaction solar hot.

Super Saiyan 4 will always be the best transformation in the entire series! Take the Great Ape form and combine it with Super Saiyan and you get this beauty! Wish they put it in DBS

Man, I love the SSJ4 transformation. GT is a guilty pleasure of mine and it’s simply because of the transformations.
The Super Sayain 4 transformation is one of the highlights in GT. The overall design being inspired by the Great Ape was neat. Goku was able to show off some amazing skill and power from this form.

SSJ4 Goku was so powerful that it bypasses the permanent kid state done by the stronger Shen Long...that's a feat and a half...
SS4 is just such a great transformation. Great design, great lore, great payoff, just great everything! I have my doubts about it showing up in Super, but I would sure as hell love to see it again to get some time in the spotlight. Who knows? Maybe that thing Broly does where he taps into his Oozaru powers without transforming (I think that's the explanation for it anyway) could lead to it?
I think Broly's wrathful form is meant to be the same thing as SSj4, they just got rid of the fur and the "Golden Ozaru" crutch that would justify its power. They then placed it below the SSj form, as it should be - and you've got a fixed canon version right there :D

@@NeonAnimeDreams I saw it more as a reimagination. It lacks the fur, the tail and stands below SSj, all of which are frankly not such bad things IMO. Feel free to watch my vid about SSj4 and how I think it could have been made better

@@i0shadow0i That's true. I just suggested it because it's about the only way I see it happening atm considering none of the Saiyans have tails. His beastial powerup was the closest to oozaru we've seen in a while.
Well, you also have to take into account that Baby is a parasite by ALL means. He takes the powers of his hosts and adds it to his own, rinse and repeat until he landed on Vegeta. The people he had taken over was Rildo, Trunks, Goten, Gohan, then finally Vegeta. As stated in the GT Perfect Files, Gohan did not stop training in that 15 years span of peace. He kept up with his training and got stronger. Then he finally lands on Vegeta and takes over him, which as you stated, Vegeta should definitely be stronger as he most likely kept training as well.
one thing I never understood is, what happened to Ultimate Gohan in GT? If he never stopped training after the Buu Saga, he should've had Ultimate, and been way stronger.

@@mohitnair2541 Yeah that's true, besides the recontextualization of what Gohan's Ultimate form means now. One of the big things that led people into thinking he was weaker was that he resorted to using Ssj. Back then people thought he shouldn't even do Ssj or that it was a moot form if he had Ultimate/Mystic.

Now with the new meaning of his Ultimate Form as an actual transformation, we know that it’s an actual form. Back then, it could just be explained as his new Base since it doesn’t look any different, that’s why they opted to have Gohan transform into Super Saiyan
Say what you want about GT but it will forever be one of the most iconic in terms of tone, transformations, and overall coolness factor of nothing else
SS4, Baby Vegeta, Super 17 & The Shadow Dragons were my favourite aspects of that show.

I like the way they had Goku regress from the golden ape into his SSJ4 body at the end of the episode instead of him exploding out the great ape in the next one.
Genuinely hope vegeta does something like going back to his saiyan routes. Maybe he takes a inspiration from bulma using the dragon balls for her looks and stuff and uses them to get his tail back, achieve a form similar to ssj4 but brown like the tail and kinda mimicks how goku merged ssb with kaioken but merges that form with ssg which would basically make ssj4 but god power

Bruh what?!! Vegeta is unique by far. Has been the best developed character so far. And his abilities to achieve new heights has always been better then goku. Goku needed the 6 saiyans. Vegeta just trained with whis and got it on his own.

SSJ4LB (Super Saiyan 4 Limit Breaker) was created when SSJ4 Xeno Goku & Vegeta received God KI from SSJB (Super Saiyan Blue) Goku & Vegeta along with SSG (Super Saiyan God) Trunks (can't remember if there was anyone else) creating SSJ4LB and in this form their fur turns into a magenta colour and their hair (I think) gains a red tint. If I remember correctly Z Broly also got this form but his hair was red like SSJ4 Gogeta for some reason.
SS4 was a very powerful transformation. It was so powerfully that it defied the wish granted by the Shenron. Let that sink in for a minute. An nearly all powerful dragon that can grant virtually any wish is completely nullified by a transformation. That says a lot about SS4.
Not exactly that impressive. We see Goku defy a wish in Z too because it went against his will. If you want to go even further beyond that, Piccolo Daimao killed Shenron in the OG Ball. However, the SSj4 transformation is waaayyyyy more powerful than people think it is. I wrote a comment breaking down what the actual multiplier is.
@@Ajz092 I think it says a lot about SS4. Goku has no control over it. It happens against his will. He was able to defy the wish because he had a say in the matter. That’s not same as having no say or control at all.
The dragon is a wish granter,,, not a fighter.. so I presume any of the DBZ characters can destroy sheron like evil king piccolo did.

Super Saiyan 4 is my favorite saiyan transformation of all, and Super Saiyan 4 Goku was remarkably strong, especially during the shadow dragon arc, where Goku powered up his Super Saiyan 4 level beyond his normal level. I would also argue that Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta was around the same strength of Super Saiyan 4 Goku after his power up in the shadow dragons arc.🐉
Ssj4 works like the other SSJ transformations. it multiples off base form. Goku and Vegeta are still equals in Gt up til Goku gets all of those crazy transformations. that’s why Vegeta wasn’t weaker when he achieved ssj4
Is crazy how people don’t appreciate GT when it was a continuation of the original two anime. It lined up a lot better than Super does and is way less confusing.
GT wasn't written by Toriyama and he had very little to do with the series outside of a little bit of promotional drawings. There is no Manga written for GT and was only anime. Toriyama while he has said that he enjoyed the series he also has referred to GT as a “side story of the original Dragon Ball“. Personally although I do like the concept and design of SS4, I couldn't even get through the Black Star Dragon ball saga before I stopped watching the GT series smh just seemed like a joke to me and a comical spin off of DBZ! Personally prefer Super and the expansion of series going into the multiverse but that just my opinion. Don't see much confusion with Super other then there is alot more unknowns/mysteries that haven't been explained or dived into yet that I believe will be as the manga and animations come out. Just Personally tho the whole multiverse, GoD and Angels ect. All allow the series to go so much farther then GT ever could've gone!

I’ve always had a theory that SS4 is the true Super Saiyan transformation and what we know as SS is incorrect. I’ve never known how to connect this together until recently with Frieza’s Golden form. I think that a Golden form can be achieved by many species, but SS4 is native to Saiyans as it IS the true Super Saiyan form.
golden saiyan form is a forced mutation that forced the user with extreme stamina drain(1,2 and lastly 3)
ssj 4/demi-ape form/true saiyan form is a corect linear mutation. It give the user incredibly strong physical enchantment, super enhance stamina and super enhance perception, better ki control and can maintain this form indefinitely
I feel like ssj4 Goku did pull off an angelic level of UI while fighting the dragons since he was blinded by Ice Shenron he instinctively could keep fighting as if nothing happened. When Whiz mentioned he had to figure out his own way of using UI in the Granolah arc I was thinking of this exact moment. Also SSJ4 Goku states that using the same tricks on him twice won't work, meaning he literally adapts like water.

@@NeonAnimeDreams it’s not exclusive to SSJ4. Goku’s body has done that even in base before and has done this adaptation even in Super, such as when he had a rematch with Hit. However, he can only use this to adapt to techniques used on him, not overall power as if he did, he’d have beaten omega in a short amount of time

Ssj4 is my second favorite transformation despite what my profile pic suggest. Still it is a brilliant concept that actually panned out, which is a shame a lot of other GT aspects didn't. Regardless the premise of it is great. It basically ties two unrelated aspects of Sayian transformations and makes them related into being the then pinnacle of Sayian power. Undergoing the Oozarou transformation and having Goku finally control that aspect something he never did in the orignial series and elevate that to a whole new level really adds to the depth to the form that honestly not a lot of Super Sayian forms have save maybe the first form and to some extent SSG.
Theory: Toriyama/Toyotaro are leading upto SSJ4 in Super. U.E. Vegeta and Gokus new Saiyain Version of UI are I think half measures to a new SSJ4 reveal. Broly's Berzerk form using the Ozaru to power up base, if Goku/Vegeta find a way to tap into that plus their "Ultra Forms" I think we will see a new transformation similar to GTs. Think Toriyama brought back Frieza, Cell, Broly...what's the next popular DBZ thing he would like to put a new spin on?

If it were/is canon then Goku would've attempted a God Form but that doesn't happen once or if it is canon then there would need to be a plot in DBS to explain Goku and Vegeta losing all their God Forms and never seeing a God again.

I Love Your Videos! I disagree with powerscaling dragon ball characters because only toriyama knows the reall levels of the characters, but like you said its very interesting to think about.
I think thats why so many of us like the newest iteration of Broly, is because he is using the oozaru power but not actually transforming into a great ape. It just adds to his overall primal power. SSJ4 is certainly a unique form and not just a recolor of SSJ and I hope at some point they bring this form into current DB.
Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta design is just next level but that was the first of those super battle collection figures I acquired. I was like wow dragon ball gt wtf is that. Like one trip to the comic shop and I found out about GT like in 99-2000.

I think you misunderstand. This is a series Geekdom does. SS4 isnt actually the strongest. SS4 Goku "may" be on par with SSGod or maybe on par with the weakest version of SSBlue. Or at least when Goku 1st became SSBlue.

This grand side story is cannon and there is no cannon they can do anything, they still make and sell dragon ball gt merch and are playable characters in all the games even to this day, hell goku jr and vegeta jr just had there first video game debut in dokkon
They named there moves and everything and even gave thim tag team attacks that they never did we can only asume they teamed up on an enemy and discovered this technique in the year 890 somtime

I see GT as an extended farewell for a show that was a huge part of a lot of people's childhood- I really love some of the themes and ideas they worked into it.

I actually do like Saiyan Scholars power scaling of the GT series. Takes the last known power levels and kinda works it from there. And yes the power levels are ridiculous, but he is also doing it for Super and the power levels there are just as ridiculous.

Back then when Super is not yet in the works, Super Saiyan 4 is the ultimate form a saiyan can achieve, looks so menacing and very imposing, an apex saiyan form indeed. Better form than Super Saiyan god and Blue in my humble opinion, probably stronger and more powerful too. I really hope they reintroduce this form in DBS and keep the design. Still my favourite transformation in all anime hands down.
Ofc Ss4 is relatively stronger than Blue and God . In Gt the only real and complete defeat of ssj4 is vs Omega Shenron , who is the strongest opponent of the whole saga , while in Super ... well i think we all remember how many times blue and God were defeated , in the anime , in the manga in the movies , what should have been the final sayan form took so many losses that they had to introduce UI and UE to compensate

Thinking of Dragon Ball Z and the entire franchise itself, I always have a picture of Super Saiyan 4 Goku in my head. Its like the first thing that comes to my mind. I grew up watching Dragon Ball (Z, GT) and was always satiated (if that's the correct word to use) with Super Saiyan 4 Goku. It actually felt like his final form. This new Super Saiyan Blue and Super Saiyan God BS just don't jive with me. It all goes full circle and having Goku turn into an APE to achieve Super Saiyan 4 just makes so much sense. Always been a bummer to me that SS4 is not even a thing in the DBS series and they just jump into SS Blue or that new bullshit Ultra Instinct mode like come on man. They should of just stuck with Super Saiyan 4 and MAYBE at the MOST had Goku have one more power-up like SS5 and called it quits there with more upgrades. Anyway, great video Geekdom, always doing a fantastic job with these videos, keep it up dude!
The GT writers messed over SSJ4 IMO. SSJ4 Goku was written multiple times to be weak and needed the energy of everybody to show its full power. He was stronger than a lot of his opponents but when he faced a true oppenent, he needed everybody else energy. He couldn’t beat Baby without everybody’s energy, SSJ4 didn’t even beat Super 17 and SSJ4 was practically useless against Omega Shenron without everybody’s energy or fusion.

Dayum throwin some dark shade on Screw Attack. Never watched them but I bet they are similar to some of the "documentary" channels out there.
Fun fact: At least half of GT haters never watched it entirely. The others only saw English dub in which Is the worst dubbing done to any anime in my opinion. Japanese sub and will have a different scope of GT.

SSJ4 may look better, but it hard shit on by SSG when it comes to power
In my top 5 favorite transformations. I was hoping(naively) it would've been introduced during the Moro arc as a counter to Moro's energy siphoning ability. i doubt a super saiyan 4 transformation will be in dragon ball at all, the highest chance I think is something with ultra ego, or at the very very very end of the series

i agree with the video, however i think your low balling Goku a little bit imo but I unfortunately wont elaborate any further because I don't want to get jumped by those people in the comments who don't like differing opinions (and I don't want to waist the rest of my day debating people in the comments section). Did Goku actually fight buuhan in the manga? I do believe he just got his ass beat before Gohan got absorbed and then quickly fused with Vegeta afterward. I feel like Goku was actually talking about kid Buu because that's the one he had the most interaction with and much more experience knowing how strong he really is
No, GT is the continuation of Z anime not manga and he definitely fought Buuhan. What solidifies this is Goku said Rildo is the STRONGEST one he faced up until that point. This places him well above anyone in Z.

They need to somehow make this form canon man. The complete personality change for a saiyan when in this form is so evident, becuz of their primal sayian roots, they’re more violent, aggressive and savage.
That’s why I say this should’ve been the final form of a Saiyan none of this gods shit.
I think with goku being shrunk down helped train his body all over again. But with his adult strength.
I’ll take SSJ4 over anything super has to offer, it made sense, it doesn’t change the idea of pushing what it is to be a legendary “super saiyan”, it’s again that thing that we love about Z, discovering this next level to Super Saiyan.
Incorporating the great ape was brilliant, the look of SSJ4 is so so cool, it looks far better than some stupid modernised blue hair or whatever.
Plus it comes from the 90s, Kids today won’t understand how awesome this was.
GT definitely has been growing in appreciation with Super not doing as well as expected
Before this video I honestly just played it safe with SSJ4.
Because Vegeta showed SSJ3 is not necessary to achieve SSJ4, I assumed you needed to have SSJ1 mastered, a tail, and maybe needed to be a pure blooded Saiyan to achieve Golden Oozaru. I assumed Golden Oozaru was a 10 X SSJ1. And then once you master Golden Oozaru and can revert to your humanoid state you get another 10X boost, thus making SSJ4 a 100 X SSJ1. Which is a huge leap from SSJ3’s 8 X SSJ1. But SSJ4 is so ridiculously powerful that it made sense, especially since it seems to be the true expression of Saiyan power.
I think they should bring back Super Saiyan 4 and give it to Broly. That way each main Saiyan has their own super transformation/technique.

Vegeta - Ultra Ego
Gohan - Beast Mode

Is the dragon realm canon? I found it on the dragon ball wiki page. It says its a world that exists outside the multiverse and doesn't possess any laws or physics and a place where gods can't get to which means it is 6th dimension because the living universe is 4d and if the Other world "transcends" that then it is mostly a 5d space-time continium.
End of GT Goku lives in the dragon realm. So Goku is 6d at best. He can one-shots all of Super's Goku transformations. Not to mention he gains immortality through ascending to heaven in broad daylight.

If GT goku continued to train with Uub and Vegeta, SSJ4 is far more capable without stamina disadvantage and strees on the body. SSJ4 can even surpasses MUI.
SSGSS is just lazy ass recoloring with God ki gimmick which is nothing else but pathetic writing and concepts from Toriyama.
Excellent vid, and I love the feat/scaling analysis since the general presentation of GT often appears as if kid Goku was powered down, so a close look at the details is important.
That said, I think there is a case to be made that the Buu comparison refers not to Buuhan, but either fat Buu (for being the most current) or Kid Buu (for being the most "pure" form). But no matter which form you reference, it still shows that Goku has grown considerably.

Super Saiyan 4 is much better looking than all of the lame hair color "transformations" the Saiyans get nowadays. I liked the idea that this was a transformation that grew out of their Saiyan heritage and didn't rely on outside sources like God ki or whatever.
The problem with GT is that the writers were either not very smart or not trying very hard. That's why it's kind of weird to hinge your entire understanding of Goku's power on a single statement such as that Rilldo is stronger than Buu. Both in GT and later Super, characters make tons of statements like this which are nothing more than the writers taking liberties they shouldn't be taking - often leading to stuff being contradicted later on. Remember what happened to "SSj God Goku being 60% of Beerus"? Yeah, there you go lol

I love this vid, I end up in arguments about the power of Goku in GT compared to Super quite a lot and this vid will help in many ways to explain my point of view. the base of Goku at the time of the beginning of GT in comparison to what it is at the time of fighting Buu and the start of Super and the insane multipliers that SSJ4 granted him through out GT is huge. everyone so focused on the new realms of power thanks to God ki and all that and they seem to forget that for to work the base needs to be mighty as well. a million times multiplier doesn't mean much in DB if your base power is 6. 6 million is still Namek power levels. so I thank you for this vid, be assured I will be sending the people I argue with to this vid, hopefully they will like it to
This is a very great video discussion about SS4 Goku. You should know that the RUclips channel "Saiyan Scholar" also did several video discussions about the GT characters' true power scaling and their growth throughout the series. He explained that during the Baby Saga a lot of the characters (both heroes and villains) were more than a thousand or million times stronger than Kid Buu (while some like Goku, Vegeta and Baby were even stronger than that).

@@liammcguire1954 Super Broly use the Ggreat Ape power in humanoide form, SSJ4 alsow use the Great Ape power in a humaniode form. So when Broly alone whipped the flore with two SSBs, SSJ4 must be as strong ar similar strong as him. I know that Broly is alsow different as other Saiyans and their transformations but the source of this power is the same. My theory.

If Broly got a hypothetical SSJ4 transformation, yeah he’d be more powerful than Goku and Vegeta, but the thing about Broly is his adaptation as he went from struggling against Vegeta to overpowering their god forms in the span of minutes. It’s more of his insanely quick adaptation than the form itself. We have not seen this insane growth in GT. If you compare the feats, SSJ4 is actually weaker than SSG as SSJ4 Goku was losing a 2v1 against Omega, a universal to multi universal opponent while Goku in super did a multi universal feat on accident with just three punches while not even at full power, then absorbing this power into his base form. SSJ4 doesn’t scale to Broly as Broly is a special case as GT Goku and Vegeta don’t share his insane adaptation

I was thinking the same thing. I think it’s on par with blue but I don’t know how it could be stronger the MUI. Part of me thinks Goku was set back when he was reverted back to a child. Or maybe they’ll write it in a way where Goku couldn’t use any god powers after DBS because he became to powerful or something.
Seeing how Jiren fought with Roshi who has a power level of 139, Super characters are very weak compared to most DBZ characters.

An Alternative way they could achieve it is if they've learned the Ikari State from Broly, control it & perhaps mix it with Super Saiyan and then Control it to achieve SSJ4 without the need of a Tail
I think Super Sayian 4 is Brolys next form if not why in the hell would they give him Ikari? I even think that Ikari is like a beginner level of Ssj4 the yellow eyes spiked hair and Sayian routes both exist and if they keep the vibe of Ssj4 being menacing and violent we could see a bit of old Broly it could be special for Broly because thanks to his Mutant Legendary genes he could maybe put Lssj on Ssj4 as well to make Lssj4
You know what would be smart if they created a plot where goku and vegeta couldn’t use god kid no more and so they had to result in their regular Saiyen forms and goku and vegeta some how turns ssj4 being pushed to their limited

Well sooner or later super is gonna run out of primary colors to signify a transformation via hair color swaps.
SS4 dared to be different from the ground up. SS4's only downfall was that it was in GT. There were definitely moments where SS4 Goku even though we know is power is insane, gets knocked back and for some reason forgets that he can fly or can hardly cause a pot hole with a powered up ki blast. But that more has to do with the inconsistencies of GT as a series than the SS4 transformation power scale itself.
