The Philippines is still the blindspot in Peter Zeihan's geopolitical mindsight. It's a country that has one-third of the US population in an area the size of California or more like Florida and Georgia combined. It also has a fractured mountainous island geography that has internal inter-island waters that act like the Mississippi-Missouri-Ohio river systems, somewhat similar to Japan and Indonesia. Peter doesn't seem to have a demographic view of the Philippines, probably because no one has yet hired him to look at the archipelago in detail.

USA will be fine economically because in about 20 years, Millennials will be rich as hell and will invest and GenZ tech Savy will highly advance the economy. They still have young people to keep consuming, only USA, Canada, Mexico and India have the luxury of young people with skills in 20 years. Canada was smart to import all the young middle class from India and Philippines. They will see the fruits of that in 20 years, kind of saved them from destruction in the geopolitical world.

Our host is perhaps to be forgiven for using the wrong form of the word renown. I believe if the subject is living, the descriptor is renown, and if deceased, renowned (the word you used). Was that usage just in the 19th century?
The comments on the Nordstream pipeline is him just blowing smoke. Look up Danish Harbour Master and Nordstream pipeline. A harbour Master who went out to see why some ships turned off their locators. He was told to turn around and not talk about what he had seen after witnessing several American naval ships in the location where the pipelines were blown up. 4 days before they were blown up.
Is he aware the TMX is both completed and moving a lot of oil to the West coast? Doesn't even mention that BC will start exporting LNG in a few months from a massive new expot facility. Almost prides himself of being down on Canada.
Zeihan has developed the art of talking drivel while sounding as if he has something to say. He doesn't. In fact he's a mouth with very little sense behind it. The gullible, as always, queue up to be fooled.
This guys not totally wrong lol. He's an extremely effective speaker and speaks very definitively about many things which arent even close to being definitive. Like China. I agree they are in trouble but he thinks they won't even exist in 3 years. And when he says it you would think it's not even a possibility that it wouldn't happen the way he says.
Yes, China disintegrates by the end of the decade. That one happen overnight. So... how fast does it unravel? When does significant disruption have a 'visible' impact to the world population and what does that look like?
When a dam breaks, it is sudden failure, hard to predict. Soviet broke few years after economic crisis. North Korea can survive decades after 10-20% of population dies from starvation. Soviet broke off into dozens of republic, all people that can travel migrated to rich countries. Soviet engineers, factories, military hardware and even young girls were sold off. There were Russian girls selling themselves in Thailand and Tokyo in 90s. Similar to Russia, China has history of decades long revolutions for millennia. Like Russians, when Chinese exiled migrants settle in neighboring countries they claim it was Chinese territory all along after few centuries.
Even if he was right, it's insulting to dismiss the chinese, with 1.3 billions BRAINS, more Engineers formed every year than the whole US education system ! (That's also counting woke programs diploma...) You think THEY are not thinking about their issues ? BTW: China is a meritocracy, they TRAIN people to get in leadership position, they don't just look at charismatic people with play pretend during election cycle...
Regarding north stream pipeline.. Why whould russia blow up its own pipeline, when they can just turn off the tap? Losing a negotiation card to play. Makes no sence too me.

I’m glad you are always willing to change your mind based on new information. The 2 E.V. companies that make a profit selling EV’s ( TESLA & BYD ) are dramatically reducing the material costs to make a car. Already the newest Tesla’s uses less copper than a typical Gasoline car. Modern Battery’s are made from LITHIUM ( NOT the highly refined version of the past ) iron and potassium ((LFP )). NICKLE & COBALT -are no longer being used. Tesla is focused on efficiency to make their cars attractive price wise. So the carbon footprint of a TESLA has been dramatically reduced. When you add back all the solar panels EV owners charge their cars with or renewable energy sources because they cost so much less to operate than coal, gas or Nuclear. The pure truth is 80% of the cost of electricity is the fuel required to generate it. Wind and solar (+ falling water) are all free. No matter how abundant natural gas is it’s not going to be free.
Blowing up the pipeline took away any economic escalation Russia could have used, and put all of the perceived escalatory power on table to the Americans. WE blew up the pipeline (green lighting the Ukainians to do so on our behalf).
Nato troops on the ground would trigger a nuclear response from Putin? Absolute tosh, mate! He would have done it by now if he had the capability and the permission from the Chinese. He has neither.
I don’t believe the Kursk bridge has fallen yet, that’s an ongoing risk, also surprise surprise north & South Korea have entered the fray , w potentiality for NATO to put men on the ground, to address the escalation, so new scenarios emerging . also more & more F16s swooping in to challenge air superiority . & the rise of drones & pace of evolution , could see new black swan tech within the next 6months. such as the launch of lazer air defence in the M.E. We also have a Kursk front now, so the evaluation here is a bit out of date on Ukraines “options” & methods of stretching Russia’s forces as-well as regular deep state impact from long range drone strikes on oil depots (impacting revenue) & ammunition dumps (taking the momentum away from advancing forces) there’s also hostility within other surrounding states, so unsure how that will impact the wider imperial line

Nice
People forget the Minsk Agreement.
Pete...wind mills and panels depending were they were made last 10ys and u have to renew ..only one reason y..good idea ..ridiculous outcome
There are many non traditional nuclear power plants
The CIGS panels would help Germany. Mono solar panels fall off terribly, compared to CIGS, in cloudy and off-axis situations. Maybe, they could trade their mono panels, to another area.
Solar makes NO sense in a place like Germany😂🤣
@ CIGS work in the shade, perhaps in conjunction with wind power, as I intend to do on my boat.
Do not ignore efficiency, minimalistic living, and solar thermal, either.
"Think I'll go up to Alberta......"
The most thoughtful analysis I have heard.
The Americans did it, it does hold up. It was blown up so nobody could change their mind. Pretty simple
From February 2023?
How old is this interview? The stuff that Peter's talking about sounds like it was from 2023 or something.
North Korean troops come at a real discount. One UK or USA soldier cost what 100 NKPA soldiers cost.
It took Bill Mare 1200 plus days to get solar for a shed. Red tape 😮
It's crazy but in the 70s the US Army got their oil in Germany from Russia even during the Cold War.
Catabolic Collapse
I now think that the Cold War was WWIII. So that places us in WWIIII?
There are so many sources of Nuclear energy other the uranium
Is BRICS currency backed by gold or not? If not they we not investing
Does this mean that the so-called rust belt cities will have a bright future again????
Wheat wont be affect in Australia, if we took away our trade deals with our gas production we would be the richest nation in the world.
well we will see how your predictions pan out.
Posted 6 days ago and talking like it was from early spring ‘24 as comments on May and July
He's bEen talking about China collapsing for over 10 years now
Even if he was right, it's insulting to dismiss the chinese, with 1.3 billions BRAINS, more Engineers formed every year than the whole US education system ! (That's also counting woke programs diploma...)
You think THEY are not thinking about their issues ?
BTW: China is a meritocracy, they TRAIN people to get in leadership position, they don't just look at charismatic people with play pretend during election cycle...
Yeah, don't try to out launder the UK
Zeihan is clueless yet so confident.
Nice counter argument jackass
Regarding north stream pipeline..
Why whould russia blow up its own pipeline, when they can just turn off the tap? Losing a negotiation card to play. Makes no sence too me.
to fracture relations between Europe and the USA of course, especially Germany.
Unbelievable!? An ad every 5 effing minutes all I wanted to do was play this and take a nap while my broken bone is healing but every effing time I get comfortable there's another effing ad interrupting my rest making me have to grab the phone to skip it. I think this is it. I think I'm done with RUclips. Fuck this!!!!!!!!!!
24:48 Deeptech Geothermal?
26:08 It's Nuclear (new-clear) not Nuculure
do you feel better? are you that petty in real life?
@@BalzAldrin Only morons like W and PZ pronounce it like that.
Blowing up the pipeline took away any economic escalation Russia could have used, and put all of the perceived escalatory power on table to the Americans. WE blew up the pipeline (green lighting the Ukainians to do so on our behalf).
It also forced Germany to go all in.
Brilliant decision by a heroic leader comrade Putin.
There is a rumor Putin is on CIA payroll or Exxon.
That is clear. Peter's just talking hot air CIA propaganda BS.
Nato troops on the ground would trigger a nuclear response from Putin? Absolute tosh, mate! He would have done it by now if he had the capability and the permission from the Chinese. He has neither.
You want to bet the planet on your opinion?
I don’t believe the Kursk bridge has fallen yet, that’s an ongoing risk, also surprise surprise north & South Korea have entered the fray , w potentiality for NATO to put men on the ground, to address the escalation, so new scenarios emerging . also more & more F16s swooping in to challenge air superiority . & the rise of drones & pace of evolution , could see new black swan tech within the next 6months. such as the launch of lazer air defence in the M.E. We also have a Kursk front now, so the evaluation here is a bit out of date on Ukraines “options” & methods of stretching Russia’s forces as-well as regular deep state impact from long range drone strikes on oil depots (impacting revenue) & ammunition dumps (taking the momentum away from advancing forces)
there’s also hostility within other surrounding states, so unsure how that will impact the wider imperial line
End of the world as we know it
Who takes Zeihan seriously…
No one with a logical normal brain
Real people. However bots like you hate him.

"Most analysts are assholes" very insightful Peter. Were you looking in a mirror when you came up with that one?🤔
This a podcast with no video
Loves the sound of his own voice a bit too much - doesn't mean he's absolutely wrong about all of this BUT he does like being listened to
I like the Gasprom theory.. but the Swedes? Oh oy oy .
I love how he’s predicting a bright future for Alberta when Alberta right now is failing miserably. Unemployment at 7.5%, sky high living costs, massive property tax increases, insanely high energy and insurance bills, and every single public union out of contract and pissed. Oh, and our healthcare system is on the brink of collapse every single flu season. The current administration is Alberta is facing massive challenges and instead of dealing with them, they’re focusing on making life more difficult for trans people. Alberta’s future is not bright with the current UCP administration.
Replace “the client” with CIA
china’s ace in the hole is eastern Siberia
They can walk in and takeover without firing a shot
Need to fix the politics in Canada. That is not a Canadian problem alone. The USA needs to do it too but I think Canada is farther along on Woke shit.
Woke can never be the real top issue. It is used to distract people like you. It’s like learning you have the cancer gene so you need guard against certain lifestyle choices. You need to stop consuming as much media that talks about “woke”
I feel like Peter's deeper knowledge about certain topics gets shown here. His knowledge of nuclear is kind if surprising i haven't heard him talk about it like this yet.
Canada used to be cool.
