Peter: I appreciate the candid analysis, and will take that into consideration. The issue I will take exception to is that we have had a president in absentia the past four years, and the country has be run by (one or a small group of) "experts" and ideologues accountable to no one. When one looks at the disasters (Afghanistan, the economy, national debt, ad infinitum) I think having appointees that are not entrenched in the Beltway swamp might be a good thing. it is a given that the entrenched interests are already at work to cripple the Trump agenda, the issue is not the cabinet picks, but rather those entrenched interests refusing to change their ways. When some lower-level bureaucrats can sabotage the directives of the President (as they did in Trumps first term, it's difficult for me to take your opinion as an objective assessment. In many ways you sound like a guy who believes Washington is focused on maintaining the status-quo vs. than the change American voted for-- a change that needs to be made before we grind ourselves into insolvency.

It's from the 2016 debates with Hilary. Hilary inferred the "Russian Agent" because she wanted to descalate and be more diplomatic with Russia and not antagonize. She's considered a Chinese/Russian/Iranian sympathizer just because she wants diplomacy rather than conflict. Obviously, politicians that's in the pocket of the military industrial complex are not too keen on that. I was really surprised when he said Tulsi Gabbard is an active russian agent. I first got to know her via Joe Rogan before the 2020 elections, when she was one of the democratic nominee. She was well spoken, had battlefield experience, so she is braver than the average and was centrist enough she was a more palatable nominee for me than others in the democratic party. Peter gets a lot right. But what he said about Tulsi is wildly inaccurate. She does manage people, she's a Lieutenant Colonel the Army. She also has a Top Secret security clearance which requires an intense background check.
When I think of an LTC White House appointee, I immediately recall LTC Oliver North, who showed up as a clerk at the Reagan White House. He eventually became involved in the Contra Affair, a 1980s U.S. political scandal in which the National Security Council (NSC) became involved in secret weapons transactions and other activities that were prohibited by the U.S. Congress or violated the stated public policy of the government. Land mines exist throughout government for well-intentioned senior executive-level appointees, even if not fully proven as a senior leader. This is why the Senate provides advice and consent, a political safety net for the American people.
I’m not American, but the double standards both parties apply to each other is comical, counterproductive, and disappointing. He also openly defends the neoconservative geopolitical position, which is confusing in retrospect given it’s been a lot of a warmongering leading to destabilization both in the US and abroad. There’s also a lack of nuance, research, and objectivity in this video. This video was mostly ranting and griping using outdated and misleading rhetoric rather than providing any insights, unfortunately.

Where does the Tulsi Gabbard is a Russian Asset stuff come from? I'm genuinely wondering. I know about the visit to Syria without approval from Congressional leadership but is there something else?
It was a hoax started by Hill ary Clint on when Tulsi endorsed Bernie in 2020.
Funny how ex-military are anti-war but those who aren't are more than ready to throw Americans into the grinder.
I think it was just from her criticizing Hilary while she was still in the Democratic party. Glad she left them behind.

Peter's confidence level is so high, it took me a long time to realize that he's been wrong on so many of these important core-level predictions. This one isn't going to age particularly well IMO. Trump is placing loyalists around him who will actually implement the policy on which he was elected to implement - unlike last time when his subordinates actively worked against him because "they knew better". I am not a US citizen, so I have no iron in this fire, so I can say without bias: she comes off an intelligent person who is down to earth and capable to be in anyone's cabinet. But a russian agent? That seems so far fetched - but then again, a good spy is someone you would not suspect being one, so she checks that box :D

When you ignore context, nuance, and common sense because it isn’t your partisan preference, it really just comes across as snobbery and pettiness rather than anything insightful. Even though I agree with a portion of Zeihan’s analysis here, you’ve lost credibility and respect from me.

He also openly defends the neoconservative geopolitical position, which is confusing in retrospect given it’s been a lot of a warmongering leading to destabilization both in the US and abroad.
