Best ford content on RUclips hands down. Recently found Mr. Lykins channel and there is so much knowledge in one place it's a crime he doesn't have 200k subscribers.
Hi, I agree with a previous poster about getting subscriber numbers up - I would love to see more technical tuning content from the dyno room - e.g. size of headers/carb used, jet sizes, ignition timing, cranking psi....it all builds a picture and I've not seen that detail in other videos.
These started out around 210 hp, and then 225 hp, then 240 hp. Heads that flow around 140-145 cfm @ .450", even if they flow 150 cfm, the stockish Ford intake has 4 ports that average j~140 cfm. With the rings sealing well, everything broke in, no alternator, no smog pump, and electric water pump, it should be capable of 260-270 hp. My guess would be 259 hp to be different.
I'm glad that you are starting off baseline using a 1983-1985 factory Ford Mustang 5.0 4 barrel intake manifold! It will probably beat everything up to 3500-4000 but give up 20 or so HP at the peak. It's hard to beat that intake manifold for street driving.
Glade, I found your channel. I've gotten days of entertaining education, and I haven't even put in a dent in the video library If i was to guess on HP, I'd say 255HP
The Explorer engine with the GT40/GT40P heads make about the same peak HP as the Mustang 5.0 with the E7TE heads using a cam with intake duration @ .050 about 15-20 degrees smaller. Talk about good driveability!
I think the carb n dual plane intake will make more than the edelebroke intake. These motors love a14 degrees advance initial timing instead if factory 10 degrees initial timing n like 36 degrees total timing.. I think 289 Hp n 312Tq. I have been watching your channel for a while now n need to send you a block for a 410 stroker n my crank, rods,.n pustons ti balance also n alihn hone the block n deck it if it needs it. I also want to talk about installing some lifter valley girdles in the 351 block also n see what your opinion is on that. Thanks God Bleess n good luck to every one..
273 hp as she sits, with best tune. I agree, that red Distributor cap is ugly. Few episodes ago you asked "what can I do to get more channel growth/subscribers" or something close to that. To me, this is the best content and format, but for more growth perhaps more comment section interaction, more action in the videos...dyno pulls, process, steps, explanation, and more than one camera angle are my suggestions. Richard Holdner's channel is basically nothing but dyno clips (poor clips at that) and talking about dyno pulls or bench dynos; not terribly exiting really.
I need more info to guess the power. I'll assume at this point with 1 5/8 dyno headers, heavier springs and engine accessories... 231hp stock intake 256 ported intake And an optimistic 298 on RPM manifold.
Really? Not supposed to? Who says? Seems to have worked for me for the past 15 years. Never has turned to mush. Ultra Black is not bullet proof. It can be porous. So can Right Stuff.
Why would you say that? Do you understand that's the way I put on all of my race engine intake manifolds, so I can get them off quickly/easily if needed? Or were you just saying it for dramatic effect?

Would be a real treat to see all the dyno testing on line😁

I race NHRA stock eliminator, love engine builds like this, I’ll guess 239hp first version.

Love your channel. 263hp
Can’t wait for the results.285 hp is my guess.
Im going with 315, why not. My 302 Gt40 headed spare with a small flat hydro, Performer RPM and a 650dp makes about 300 in good weather.
A cool idea, make a stock cast iron sleeper. Full house port job, cam, stroker rotating assembly. Its just a 5.0 with intake, cam and headers 😉

my guess is 250 HP . I love these stock motors ! They are tough !
Thanks!
Don’t forget to make sure that the lube grooves on the rocker arm pedestal retainer are going the same way as the rocker arms are
Awesome. Looking forward to this.
I think stock 302 between 1996 & 2001 had about 210/215 hp. My guess is it will make about 250 hp.
I'm gonna guess 274. Good luck!
272 horsepower in baseline trim
Stock roller was around 220hp fully decked, with the heads, springs, RPM intake, and IIRC 303 cam, no accessories, 355hp.
266HP 👍
265Hp
287hp👍

271 hp If I was 20 years younger Id build your end result. Been watching all your Ford builds, especialy the TP 302s.
I need more info to guess the power.
I'll assume at this point with 1 5/8 dyno headers, heavier springs and engine accessories...
231hp stock intake
256 ported intake
And an optimistic 298 on RPM manifold.
With the RPM intake I'm going to say 252hp
i use the dipstick in the spark plug hole to get TDC
