I saw them at Southend Kursaal of all places, and Roger was so wasted he could barely speak (probably in the 70s). I'm a bit surprised to see he is still with us, but very glad that he is. Someone else in these comments compared this with what passes for music nowadays, and they made a good point. Bands like Family and Jethro Tull and King Crimson were individual with their own sound, and were totally into making music. Rock on guys.
What passes for rock music these days? Not much, with the exception of the likes of the Dropkick Murphys and some older guys like Martin Barre (J Tull).
Love this song and this band I would ahve thought that they would have been bigger than they were.. Streetwalkers I thought would have been the same..!!
The sound is so right ! Kudos to Roger Chapman. It reminds me of the late Joe Cocker, blasting out his lungs at top level. He got it right, too (it's almost the period I prefer, you know "Sweet soul and sheffield steel").
Excellent band, all together, great music... with a view from Blues, Soul and Rockmusic only Joe Cocker and Joe Jackson topped them, but that´s another story...
Oh'!! I saw Uriah Heep at Oxford!!!.. so fuckibg funny as the whole band couldn't stand up!!.. LOL.. the drummer fell off the stand and I've never seen so many bottles of Jack Daniel's in my life . I was up in the balcony, and ended up going down the escape ladder as riot in the foyer. I still laugh my arse off till this day.. meanwhile the band was being dragged off stage. THANKS Uriah Heep..God Bless.. OXFORD..so fuckibg funny... thanks.. that was an amazing evening... LOL.. 😨😨😨😨😨
I saw Family at Newcastle City Hall ages ago. I'm 70 now and this track still sends shivers. What a great band, what a great singer!
Stunned when caught by the cover I bought this on the day of issue and the needle sounded like this! What a great start for an album
I loved Roger’s and Mike Patto’s voices

Seen them at plymouth guildhall in the 70s ,think he tucked a bottle of whiskey away on stage that night.,still hell of a show
Chappo is one of the very best vocalists, ever. And Burlesque is a gem. Life is great.
He is a brilliant performer..
Unique.Just fantastic
I sometimes wonder what it is that passes for music these days, but THIS is music.

What a voice, wow....still sends shivers down my spine when I hear Roger sing, the band seem a tad behind his GREATNESS.......Excellent Roger !
One of the best bands ever, I was lucky to be a teenager when they were on the scene
Cracking performance from the 70's band,
The old voice is holding out well. A welcome blast from the past.
Incredible, his voice is still enough to strip paint at fifty yards, genius.....
Classic performance!! Brilliant!
Sei sempre un MITO!!! You are always a myth!!! One of the best 10 singers in the whole world!
I have seen him every decade since the Seventies. 'Chappo' is an amazing album.
Love this song and this band I would ahve thought that they would have been bigger than they were.. Streetwalkers I thought would have been the same..!!
Loved Family and of course ,the great Chappo.

Still on point Chappo
As good as only Chapman can be. Look at Henry Spinetti on drums, too.
Roger sings like no one else, we could identify him blindfolded.
One of tne Family
Joe Cocker - Rod-Patto--Mike Harrison-Bonnie Tyler Fantastics voices.....
great Chappo-
Chapman , Family-Anyway , mon noël 1970
Ohhh the irony I saw them at Newcastle city hall way back when
"I'm singin the wrong fuckin words"............ probably only sung it a couple of 1000 times !!!!
Excellent band, all together, great music... with a view from Blues, Soul and Rockmusic only Joe Cocker and Joe Jackson topped them, but that´s another story...

Tasty guitar. Who is it?
A voice made of whiskey and coal, down the hatch Rog :)
HE WAS GOOD IN 1968
was
Nobody like Chappo. NOBODY!
I was at this show, Chapman was dreadful........the band were great tho, so not a total loss.
Like all good singers they tend to not be as good as when they were young, but give him his due, good for his age.
