You have to read what you get from the library right away, but you should feel when the time is right for you to read a book that you added to your collection.
I'm waiting to dive into never-read books I picked up years ago because I'm waiting for that "I've got to read this now" feeling.
TBRs are great, but they should be plans that remain flexible.
The Illustrated Man is great, at least for me, but I think you'll like The October Country more, due to the horror in the stories.

Thanks! I’m looking forward to The October Country. I don’t have a copy of it yet, but I will get a reader copy, and I’d like to get the signed, numbered, slipcased edition from Gauntlet eventually.

@itsterrific You could still get a signed, PC copy without a slipcase of Dark Carnival direct from Gauntlet. They had them for a long time at $500. Now it looks like Barry only has a slightly damaged one left for $400. I mention this because Dark Carnival was the original version of The October Country. Keep in mind that October is actually a better collection, as Ray himself said, "Only the good stories from Dark Carnival made it into The October Country."
Ebay's prices can be too outrageous to even browse for those older books! I feel for ya, and I don't want to remind you of how some sellers poorly ship their books.

I’ve been quietly shopping for a copy for a while. I’m looking for the right price. Barry definitely thinks his old, incomplete stock is worth more than better copies sell for on Ebay. I’m watching an auction right now.🤞

Tim, I forgot to add you could buy the UK Dark Carnival that was recently published by Harper Voyager. That was the book that sent Barry into a major rant in his newsletter. Why not read the original version of The October Country, right? It's a cheap paperback, your perfect reader copy!

@@itsterrific You're welcome! As a Bradburian, it's my pleasure and responsibility to help any way I can when it comes to reading and enjoying Ray.
You've helped me start my journey into McCammon's books.
I enjoy when no egos are involved when simply giving honest advice, imput, and guidance to others that aren't as knowledgeable as them. Great community for the most part.

I have that Folio version of The Haunting Of Hill House and the paperback version series tie end book. Loved the book but I get what you mean about things taking awhile. On the other hand I love the 1963 movie more than the book and also the Netflix series.

I haven’t seen the Netflix series. It’s in my queue.

@@itsterrific It's a lot different than the book or the other movies, but I was extremely pleasantly surprised with. Some truly creepy moments in there as well as great character and plot.
