    Great video! I just replaced the same module on my 2011 Silverado 3500 HD Duramax 6.6L. It had a DTC of 21B0 - DEF level 3 Inactive. Reset all DTCs after repair along with turning heaters on with scanner (Autel DS808). The Service Emission System warning was still there after that, giving me a sick feeling for a while. I decided to take it for a drive and about 3 miles into the drive cycle, the warning message cleared. So thankful for your video. I hope this feedback will help others too.

    Hey, I originally had code P205B. I replaced the Def heater thanks to your install video! But after the replacement within 8 miles these 2 codes popped P2200 P2205 and now my truck states X miles until 65mph service emissions system. The codes are for the Nox sensor 1 and nox sensor heater control, do you think maybe I forgot to plug something in? The truck was drivable before. Just getting super frustrated I appreciate your help

    Great video. Question, do you have to manually clear codes or should the truck clear codes on it own ?

    • @drewsshoplife
      @drewsshoplife  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thank You ! Sometimes the truck will see the problem fixed and may turn off the light but the codes will likely still be there. The best way is to clear the codes with a scan tool, unhooking the batteries even for an extended period of time will not clear the codes.

    Great video , thanks. Quick question. I have the same truck, same issue. You mention that even though you would expect the temp sensor module to be part of the issue, you've never found that to be true. I'd hate to replace the tank internals, only to have to drop it again later to replace the temp sensor module. I dont have a Zeus like you do to read the different components and their values. Thoughts? Thanks again.

      I do agree , I don’t like replacing anything unless I can either prove it’s failed or very certain it’s the issue. So I just looked up testing for this , basically it says if you don’t have any u-codes (aka communication codes in pcm) to replace the sending unit assembly. Pretty cut and dry.

      What did you end up replacing? Was it the sensor or the entire unit inside the tank?

      Which module? The one in the tank or you mean the module on the top of the tank? Most common is the unit in the tank. I have had one be no good from the dealer.

      @@drewsshoplife the heater in tank was replaced as well as the level sensor module on top of the tank. says Reductant Tank Temperature Sensor Circuit Range / Performance. could the actual heater assembly be bad again ?

      @@Reaglesracing44_ it could be, wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen it. Only way to tell is ohm the temperature sensor out while it’s acting up to see if it’s the sensor or the module.

    Is the temp sensor part of the heater?
    I keep getting p205b when it gets cold. When I read the def temp sensor is shows 131 degrees f. I know that’s not right. I’m just trying to figure out which part is which on the tank. Thanks in advance and great video!

      Yes the Def temperature sensor is built into the def sending unit ,which sits inside the tank.

      @@cesarcash602 yes all 2011-2016 are the same visually (2011 parts may be different). The little module with two connectors is the temperature sensor module. The actual sensor is located in the tank in the sending unit .

    Question, what was the reason you replaced this?
    My truck is stuck thinking it’s out of def so I have the speed reduced message and def light on, is this a possible fix to the issue? The reductant tank heater and sending unit are the same module correct?

    • @drewsshoplife
      @drewsshoplife  Год назад

      It was replaced due to the temperature sensor in the reductant tank sending unit failed. In the reductant tank sending unit there are 3 level sensors, 3 heaters and a temperature sensor. It can fix that but there are many other problems that can cause that. Have you scanned it for codes?

    • @drewsshoplife
      @drewsshoplife  Год назад

      This procedure was on a lml. It is the same on all lml trucks. Only difference is the mounts bolts that hold the tank up. The newer ones are torx and the early ones are 13mm.

    How do you go about reseting the def poor quality message . I tried performing a quality test on my ethos scanner but it never gave me a pass/faul result. Already replaced the def pump . Just trying to get rid of message .

    • @drewsshoplife
      @drewsshoplife  Год назад

      I’ve tried that process with no success. There is usually two things you may have to do to reset it. First the easy one , while the engine is not running go into the glow plug controller and command redundant tank heater 1 on for two minutes, repeat this process for the other two (2 &3 ) heaters and in the middle of the third heater being commanded on the light will hopefully go out.

    What happens if you continue to drive your vehicle with this issue?

    • @drewsshoplife
      @drewsshoplife  2 года назад +1

      Whats really interesting about these trucks is sometimes they come in with just a check engine light, and other times they come in with the def light on and a warning that "max speed reduced in x miles". It may inhibit regen and can go into a reduced maximum speed, I would repair it sooner than later and if you drive it stay close to home.

    How much should a job like this cost

    • @drewsshoplife
      @drewsshoplife  2 года назад +1

      Labor prices vary so much, The Reductant tank heater for a 2011 duramax lists at $329.69 for an original gm part. The labor time for this is around 2hr per Mitchell. So if a shops labor rate is $100 per hour, expect to pay around $600-$700 for this. Parts prices and availability can vary due to current demand and parts shortages.
