I am planning to try this this weekend. You mentioned something about the key way for the fan bracket. How do you remove it safely. Also, did you drain the coolant before removing the hose and thermostat housing?
Do you just drop the new thermostats in? No clock wise turning them? I just dropped mine in and losing coolant not sure if thermostats are not sealed inside or If I didn’t tighten the bolts correctly
So that’s not a refrigerant valve. It’s to check the fuel pressure. And if you do change them, get the AC Delco OME thermostats they may cost a little bit more, but it’s worth it in the long run.
Is there a need to replace the thermostat housing that connects to the block? Someone told me that the factory ones have a poor flowrate.. Truck is throwing this code, and has 200k miles on it. Any suggestion there??
Note: The fuel pick up in the tank is mounted permanently at the bottom of the tank so it does not matter what the fuel level is! Fuel is always picked up from the bottom of the tank.
Anyone know why my coolant is getting pushed into the reservoir side. No codes ,engine is running normal temps and i literally just replaced both thermostats and tank.
Do NOT buy those thermostats. OEM only. IF you buy aftermarket, it had better look nearly identical in construction to OE. These Israeli tstats are obviously cheap/not suited for duty in these trucks. It may not be day one, but you WILL have problems down the road for using them.
FYI, 1 T-stat is 185 degree (front) the rear is 180 degree from GM. I only stick w/ GM OEM parts. Good video.
Hi there, same code I got. Great explanation of what to do to git it don! I have the 2016 3500 6.6 67500 miles
Thank you

Thank you very much for this video sir. I appreciate you.
I second that
Thanks for mentioning the thermostat gaskets are the only gaskets for the housing
You bet
That is the fuel system test port that you referred to as a refrigerant port. Also the duramax was co developed with Isuzu.
Thank you
Did you drain any coolant before you started I didn’t notice
Thanks for the video
Came here to ask this.
How those o reilys thermostat holding up?
So far so good. I live in coastal california so the weather is not severe.
is that refrigerant line or fuel rail test port you removed the bracket bolts from?
Good question 😅
It’s fuel rail test port
Have you done a cp3 swap
Did you have to purge your coolant system afterwards?
i’m getting same code but my truck runs at normal temp what’s the issue?
Good question
Maybe a sensor or electrical. Electrical are always bad on these trucks
same problem . your thermostats are stuck open . mine was the same
@@dp9629 come down to it. You are right. That's what mine was.
@@floridagirl386 I swapped the ect sensor on the hopes it was going to be that easy but shot the code again about a week later.

I'm not sure what you mean by clock wise turning, I did drop them in and clocked them according to specs. How much coolant are you losing?
Good info

Did you need to burp it?
Yes
I also got the Israel thermostats from Napa, they said they were 180-185, but currently running steady at 203, how about yours
Thanks
Great video sr!!!👍
Glad you liked it!

I am not familiar with a code for that. What code do you get?
I’m thinking! The thermostat with the wholes goes to the back of engine. Not the front
Yup, probably
Very interesting , thanks. I never run below 1/4 tank on fuel, due to dirt getting sucked up out of the bottom of the tank. 👍
Note: The fuel pick up in the tank is mounted permanently at the bottom of the tank so it does not matter what the fuel level is! Fuel is always picked up from the bottom of the tank.

Any luck? Mines doing the same thing
Head gasket
No, not head gasket, no coolant in oil and has no signs of that issue. Was told it may be turbo going out or something in that area
@@bobsteve2093agree with head gasket….very small leak is my guess probably only under compression/combustion leaking to the coolant not into oil….?

You like to hear yourself talk.
You like to make comments with insignificant information.
Horrible video said u was going to show us why we needed the 1/2 inch wrench then proceeds to not show what u used it for or anything
Lol horrible grammar
lol... bro why don't you do a video? Lol chill man.
