in the early 2000s, cartoon network commissioned a bunch of songs and music videos for new and old cartoons.
one of them was for Jabberjaw, an old Scooby-Doo clone about a shark in a band in an underwater city.
it’s one of my favorite ska songs, despite the band who made it (Pain) insisting they hate ska.
some combination of “cartoon groovies” “jabberjaw” and “running underwater” should bring up the video

When i hear "i drank my frustrations" i think about how i was addicted to codiene promethazine cough syrup & vicodin & how i was using them to cope with stress. i realized that i was my own worst enemy because of this song. now im much more stable and have much more close friends. THANKS LTJ

When this album first came out, I truly didn't appreciate it, over the years it has earned its place in my LTJ collection and I am irritated with my past self for hating it

Now you get to enjoy it fresh! It's a blessing in disguise! Like not seeing a really good movie yet - sure you "missed out" but what did you miss out on? You get the experience when you enjoy the movie, not from speaking of the experience :D
Jokes aside I know whatcha mean: passing over a song in the past that has lyrics that hit home later is kinda like nostalgia: bittersweet.

The Science Of Selling Yourself Short
    I've come to my senses
    That I've become senseless
I could give you lessons on how to ruin your friendships
Every last conviction, I smoked them all away
I drank my frustrations down the drain, out of the way
So I sit and wait and wonder
"Does anyone else feel like me?"
Someone so tired of their routines and disappearing self-esteems
    I'll sing along
    Yeah with every emergency
    Just sing along
    I'm the king of catastrophies
    I'm so far gone
That deep down inside I think it's fine by me
    I'm my own worst enemy
I could be an expert on co-dependency
I could write the best book on underage tragedy
I've been spending my time at the local liquor store
I've been sleeping nightly on my best friends kitchen floor
So I sit and wait and wonder
"Does anyone else feel like me?"
I'm so overdosed on apathy and put down on sympathy
    I'll sing along
    Yeah with every emergency
    Just sing along
    I'm the king of catastrophies
    I'm so far gone
That deep down inside I think it's fine by me
    I'm my own worst enemy
    Let the meaning slip away
Lost my faith in another day
    Self deprication seems okay
I never thought I'd make it anyway
    I'll sing along
    Yeah with every emergency
    Just sing along
    I'm the king of catastrophies
    I'm so far gone
That deep down inside I think it's fine by me
    I'm my own worst enemy
    I'm my own worst enemy
    I'm my own worst enemy
    I'm my own worst enemy
    I'm my own worst enemy
