Hey Sean I've got a vocal recording issue, I would love to hear your take. A singer I record is always complaining about the level/sound in her headphones. I never seem to be able to give her enough volume even when it's pumped. Also she wants to hear the vocal with FX, reverb etc as she says that's what she had back in the day. Surely the vocal should be dry and unaffected when tracking focusing on the raw performance? Obviously in the box the system can't process and playback the vocal with FX when recording. Have you ever encountered this with a vocalist wanting a 'playback' sound when recording? Isn't an engineer who gives a vocalist reverb when recording engaging in bad practice?
no. you want to make the vocalist as comfortable as possible, so they can give you the best performance. if they need reverb and other FX while tracking, it's definitely doable (I'm rarely NOT tracking with FX these days). You just need to set your latency compensation / buffers and choose plugins wisely for efficiency. As for the levels, stick a gain plugin on her vocal so you're not affecting the preamp level and give her all she needs :)
I bought something of yours but I accidentally chose digital check, I was wondering if it ever went through. I spent $34 but I have not gotten an email confirming that I have this mixing template of yours. Just checking in if you ever got it.

If you press the "Option key" on your keyboard, and then click the plug-in list. Down in the bottom of the list there should be a tab called "Legacy" if you click on it, all the old plug-ins pop up - including the old De-esser.
@@tosmosis8918 thanks Daniel! The look of newly designed plugins seems to be polarizing - I definitely think there are much nicer looking interfaces out there but the retina / resizable GUI factor helps and for stock plugins, they look pretty good imo

Logic Pro X Plugins Are A Beast. They Looks Of Em Can Use An Update. But They're Dope As Is Man. When you know how to use em. Than you'll fw em heavy.
