Well, actually I did. I was in graduate school in my 20's. I would spend Saturday night studying sometimes. My friends were at a dance club partying, while I was at home hitting the books. My hangovers were not so bad then. A few greasy cheeseburgers and some milk and I would plug on.
@@stanleycostello9610 Amazing, isn’t it? If I drank a quarter of what I drank in an average evening when I was a twenty-year-old student, I’d be ill for a week!
Thanks Steven for today's powerful message. Tomorrow morning I will wake up refreshed and ready to have a nice peaceful New Year's day. Happy New Year Steven ❤
Powerful message. It’s an inherently selfish activity drinking, the more so when you are addicted to it. You’re unable to be in the present. It’s all about as you say where’s the next drink coming from. And we don’t have so long with our kids anyway. And wasting that precious time drinking is sad. Sad for all concerned. Wishing you all the power and strength to abstain in 2025. One day at a time 🙏
I'm just heading into my first ever alcohol free New Years Eve, since being a teenager. Even when I had my liver transplant over the Christmas/New Year period in 2020 I was on Oxycodone so can't even count that. Instead today, I've spent the day with my family, went to the cinema, and tonight going for a Curry just me and the wife. I've got just over 2 months sobriety, and I can't remember the last time I was this happy. I drunk every day for 30+ years with my only breaks being in Afghanistan, and Iraq when I was in the Military. It's truly a miracle that I'm now sober and I wouldn't change this feeling for anything. Have a great New Year and keep up the great work on the channel.
Just another hurdle to be cleared,Keith.When you clear it,and you will clear it,the feeling tomorrow morning waking up sober,will have you walking on air all day.Everyone around you,and on here are proud of you.Keep that in mind.All thats left is to wish you all the best from North of the Border,and to thank you for your service,Sir.{Doffs cap}
Brilliant video, Steve .11 years ago today I had my last drink, one of the best things I ever done in my life.and yes, it's life changing .keep up the good work, Steve. Your advice will help a lot of people 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Superb communication, as ever Steven & a massive impact in 2024 on our attitudes and motivation. Thanks for all you do. Looking forward to steering a calm and sober path through tonight's mayhem. Seeing this is increasing me chances......All the best for the coming year✨ looking forward to us all collaborating in 2025
Happy new Year Steve and every one else in this Group , Been a sad Week being told that 3 People who have passed from Alcohol abuse who I got to know in Recovery they thought they could beat it but no and now have left Family to Mourn their loss . I am glad I crossed that line from Heavy Drinking to becoming a Alcoholic or I would have been dead years ago , January and February statistically are the dangerous Months for relapses for people new to recovery because they get through the Festive Season sober and then say to them selves . See it Just shows I can stop when I want to ' also the dark days and nights and crap weather makes it depressing . I shall stop in tonight on my own there is always a danger when I am around Booze as I am a alcoholic but its coping with people around me jumping up and down and Drunk as its new Years Eve but I am not judging its me with the problem with the booze most of them are just having a good time , Just do not pick up that first drink and keep connected it has a 100% success rate
Happy new year Steve, I wish you continued success in the new year, well done for creating such a brilliant channel, it was interesting what you said in this video about nobody batting an eyelid when it comes to buying and consuming alcohol Which people don't, it's just accepted as normal,and when you said that alcohol is a drug..and your right because alcohol is a drug and in my opinion it's the worst drug with the worst side effects, because I've been a drug addict and have consumed every drug going except for spice but I've done the lot and alcohol is the worst and most destructive along with gambling, alcohol should be made illegal and gambling too, and drug consumption along with drug addiction should be classed as a medical concern and decriminalised, the 2 most damaging things alcohol and gambling are both legal and make the government the most money in taxes whilst damaging our people the most , totally unacceptable and corrupt, thanks again Steven, please keep highlighting the dangers , thank you, all the best
@stevencurry215 I've been so bloody good,not touched hubby's before tonight and he's been so supportive and barely drank since my detox...but watching him drink tonight is difficult grrr
My family are not proud of me (500 days poison free) they can’t understand why I have given up, I’ve been called weak, anti social, boring and excluded from gatherings, It’s a shame but I’m so strong now and life is better I’m not going back, I can’t.

Any pictures of the old flat you were in by the end of it all?, sounds like the type you dont find much anymore. One of those ones from an old gorgrian building, old fireplace, depressingly cold. Glad you got out of it.
Has anybody ever woken up in the morning feeling refreshed after a dry night in and thought, "I really wish I'd gone out drinking last night"?
