Something to be aware of: alcohol withdrawals can be potentially fatal as they can often cause seizures. If you are a heavy drinker of alcohol make sure that you slowly reduce your alcohol in an observed environment.

Been there, done that! you are very correct. I tried to quit on my own, bad idea. Had 2 seizures, and spent about a week and a half in the hospital, then several months back at home with my parents before being able to be under my own roof again.
I’m now 9 months sober and counting.

How are you doing now fantastic
How’s it going? I’m a week in. We can definitely do this!
I haven’t had a drink in 3 weeks, and I have so much energy, I’m enjoying my work, and so much more. Something I’ve found helped the first week or so was to enjoy snacks I love whenever I felt that “ping” to drink…it would satisfy the impulse that often led to “enjoying” a drink (just can’t go too overboard with the snacks). Now, I hardly have any thoughts about drinking.
Keep going; you’re gonna feel amazing!
I've got 3 years sober this month. Hardest thing I ever did. Best thing I've done as an adult.
You haven't done it... you're still DOING it... and doing GREAT!!!

@@destroyer4967 my memory is so bad- and I believe it is because I drink. did your memory improve after you stopped drinking?
I used to drink a lot. Around 2 bottles of Whiskey a day. Then in September 2019, I went to a bar and started drinking a beer, when I suddenly noticed that I was feeling that my face was rushing with blood, had a unusually stuffy nose, and had difficulty breathing. So much that I had to leave from there without even finishing my first glass of that beer. I tried drinking another day, but same thing happened. Later on that same month, I was diagnosed with alcohol allergy. I had been drinking for around 15 years since when I was in college. And suddenly alcohol allergy happened. That was the last time I drunk. Now after around 2 years, I have received promotions in my job, at least tripled my salary, and have started bodybuilding which I was passionate about when I was a teenager.
Wow two bottles of whiskey a day? You're lucky to be alive I developed acute pancreatitis so I slowed my drinking down no choice unless I want to experience that excruciating pain again period but congratulations to your promotion in life
@@Davidjon1946 you are right, I could have developed Pancreatitis or Liver disease, but fortunately did not. However I do have Hepatitis B positive. And I was on a suicide mission. Alcohol allergy was a blessing in disguise, otherwise I would have died a painful death for sure.
Did you have anxiety issues too? Did the breathing and stuffy nose go away?
@@relentlessliving5588 yep, after I stopped drinking. You need to stop drinking completely. Yes I did experience anxiety when I got the allergy attack...

I remember watching this last year when I was really struggling with alcohol. I kept making and breaking my goals of stopping. But after a lot of help; I hit 6 months of sobriety yesterday. I feel so much better today than when I was drinking. You can change if you need too!
Yeaaa! 🙌🏽🤩🔥
How did you deal with the withdrawals?
Well done

I’m at 12 days in. We can do this. Just checking in.
I drink everyday after my brother was murdered I thought it would help numb the pain and help me get over the trauma I was dealing with on a day to day basis but it only had gotten worse. Today I'm going to embark on a new journey I'm not drinking not only for me and the harm to my body but for my wife and kids . Wish me luck guys I need your prayers and I pray that all of you guys who made it to the stage of sobriety stay sober it's a beautiful thing 🙏🏾
Do it for your family, they need you💪
You got this. You can do it. 👍🏻
Remember drink doesn’t make you forget it actually makes things worse in so many ways
My girlfriend's brother was murdered and she really struggled for 2 years drinking whiskey to numb the pain. She almost took her own life but stuck with it. Once she truly decided she deserved a happy life and her brother wants that for her every day she no longer has those dark thoughts anymore. She drinks but much less and not as many blackouts. So sorry about your brother man. His spirit is in you ever day and he wants you to be happy. GL each and every day very powerful prayers and thoughts from Rhode Island.
You deserve a better life. ONE DAY AT A TIME! Rooting for you.
I have been sober for the last 10 days. I feel some pride. My current target is 14days without alcohol. respect to all those who have stayed clean for months and even years. You are all true motivation to me.

Must be nice not being an addict. When you suffer from alcoholism. Going more than a week without alcohol seems/ is impossible.
Im starting a treatment called the Sinclair Mathis using Naltrexone in a few days, in hopes of reversing my addiction. For anyone who’s feeling hopeless… I HIGHLY encourage you to look up “Claudia Christian, TED talk on the Sinclair method”!!! Turns out, you don’t have to stay an addict. And practice/ torture yourself with complete sobriety in order to heal and turns out you can cure your alcoholism and get rid of your cravings!
Alcoholism runs in my family and I quit January 1, 2021. I died for 4 minutes with a BAC of .52. My drinking was getting out of hand and I knew it was. I was up to 2 bottles of vodka a day and I drank whenever I could. I would wake up at 3 am and reach for my vodka to stop the withdrawals. When I finally bottomed out, was when I died from alcohol poisoning. The doctor said my liver was very damaged and my pancreas was very swollen. I knew I had to change and I was given a second chance. After the doctor said I was at death's doorstep, I quit. I didn't need rehab or AA because I knew I was killing myself. The withdrawals were the worst but worth it in the end. I have been sober for a year now and I feel so much better. I will be cheering for anyone out there trying to get sober. You got this!
Your story is inspiring I’m 17 and had a really bad problem with drinking id drink every single day for about 2 years id get into trouble was always getting hurt going to the woods at night with friends id even sit in my room and drink vodka tell I fell asleep just shot after shot. Even before work (which was still capable of doing my job) everytime I’d go through a bottle of vodka to myself every 2 days I notice the affects on my body it was terrible. I knew I needed to stop but felt I couldn’t because it was so easy to just keep drinking and feeling the way I felt it was incredibly hard to be without. After all that I finally told myself it was time to stop so far I’m a month and a week strong and I never thought I’d make it this far. I’m disappointed I had to deal with all this at my age but I’m so proud of my decision now I feel much better.
Thank you 🙏 please pray for me please! 😭😭
Congratulations on your second chance, I’m glad you’re still with us! Keep spreading the good word.

I'm a veteran, alcohol and cigarettes addiction actually destroyed my life. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Got diagnosed with cptsd. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.
I love hearing great life changing stories like this. I want to become a mycologist because honestly mushrooms are the best form of medicine (most especially the psychedelic ones) There are so many people today used magic mushrooms to ween off of SSRI medication- its amazing! Years back i wrote an entire essay about psychedelics. they saved you from death buddy, lets be honest here.
Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Germany. Really need!
YES very sure of benmycologys I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today
100% agree I used to have Psychosis and paranoid thoughts like "people thinking about me talking about me etc. Very odd behavior after getting off Adderall from 7-16. Antidepressants at 18-29. 31 now. I took way to much, but took about 20g of Gold caps (Psilocybin containing mushroom) I analyzed my entire life. The emotions that came out helped me understand behavior etc more. Wont ever need to do it again because I'm happy and contempt forever, but I wish more people did this to alter their perception of reality. Would help with healing much trauma
How do I reach out to him? Is he on instagrem?
Currently fighting alcoholic abuse, it's very hard for me, but i believe in myself! This keeps me motivated.
‘Occasionally drinking is fine’ is a FALSE tailored statement from the alcohol makers. Don’t believe it. Quit it completely and hangout with friends who encourage that!

Set a goal so powerful that absolutely nothing will comprise your path to victory.

My husband and myself used to drink @ least a 12 pack and a 5th of Jager each on a daily basis and that was just me and him hanging out at home. I don't even wanna think about how much more we drank when we go out partying. I drank like that from the time I was 19 till I was 32. Right after turning 32 I started blacking out more and more until it was everytime I drank no matter how much I drank and also started becoming pretty aggressive/violent. Then the hangovers started lasting longer, like literally 3 days. To shorten the story a couple months after turning 33 on Christmas Eve 2015 to exact I took my last drink and haven't had a single desire to reach for a bottle since! I didn't even realize I was 6 years sober till I started writing this! 🤯🥳😁😁😁
That's great! I have a question for you though, do you still go out to bars and parties with your husband and friends? That's the one thing I'm trying to hear other peoples stories on. I love the aspect of going out to a bar at night and having a good time but I'm curious what it is like to deal with drunk people when you are completely sober
So very proud of you thank you you have given me some inspiration 8
4 years here. The hangovers we're not tolerable at the end of my drinking. How I don't miss drinking is amazing. It actually repulses me.
Did your husband follow in your recovery path?
@@nicebars I can only speak for myself, people are different.
I go to restaurants and wherever there's good food that Like. I don't go to bars because everybody there is geared towards getting drunk and it's not a cool dinning experience. I learned to have a good time by removing alcohol and when you do that, the things you do for fun are a lot better quality and geared toward what YOU like. To sum it up, it's a little selfish and totally self indulging. And the crowds and the drunk " friends" are not missed and totally avoided.
When you drink, your friends are really drinking partners validating each other's drinking habits. They will continue without you, or they can join you at a table, not the bar. Most stay at the bar but the ones who join you are your real friends and probably not alcoholics.
It's really boring and obnoxious to stand at a bar until 2 am when you don't drink.
Well, those are my thoughts and experiences. I hope they helped explain a little bit and help you to be selfish to yourself. Good luck. ✌️

The video is propaganda.
@@TheDionysianFields only an alcoholic would think that
@@johnlewis8934 Cute. I don't suppose it would make a difference if I revealed that I'm *objectively* not an alcoholic. I can make a 6 pack last for a month or more. I can stare at the same can of beer for days and feel no temptation or compulsion to drink it. That's what I mean by objectively not an alcoholic.
@@TheDionysianFields How so?
@@Blattzz802 It's giving you one side of the story...that, by definition, is propaganda. Alcohol has been proven to have many benefits for those who drink responsibly.
I started drinking when I was 18. Loved beer. Never thought I was more than a social drinker. The years went by, then decades. Expanded my alcohol to occasional whiskey. I turned 68 last year, a very sharp blood specialist doctor ordered a special ultrasound of my liver and that’s when I found out how much damage I had done to myself. All those years, even with routine blood work, my liver never revealed how bad it was. Until that ultrasound that maps the stiffness and blood flow. I have cirrhosis and scarring of my liver. I immediately stopped drinking and all Tylenol. I’ve been sober now for just over 4 months and seeing a specialist to stay on top of the damage. I pray that my liver will heal.
I have faith that your liver will regenerate just fine, great job in quitting!
I hope you get good news. I'll be 59 next month and I drink 10-15 beers a day for 30 plus years. Day 3 right now. I bet my liver is in bad shape. Keep me posted if you get a chance. Thank you.
@@lobstermania4025 So glad you’ve made a great decision to stop drinking! It takes a belief in yourself that you and you alone are responsible for your body. I don’t miss it as much as I thought I would. It is hard for me to see my adult sons drinking now… guess I was a bad role model.

I’m 74 yo and have stopped alcohol use numerous times throughout my life. I started drinking at 15 yo. Quit, hopefully for good 8 days ago and already feeling so much better! Best of luck and thanks to all of you who posted here. Let’s all put this self destructive behavior behind us.
62. Same drinking history as you, just gave it up, my stomach said no and it got to a point where I didn’t even care what I was drinking. I stopped cold turkey 20 days ago, surprisingly no DTs . The worst thing about drinking every evening was the horrible sleeping patterns and being groggy the next day, I used to have to pull over to grab 10 or 15 minutes of sleep, so I wouldn’t fall asleep at the wheel, on my way home from work. I hope I can give it up for good. Feel so much better and I have a lot more energy. Best of luck to everyone who is kicking this habit.
I'm in the same boat. Since I was 15. I have stopped from time to time and felt GREAT. I really wanna quit altogether but I just don't know how. Seems like during the quarantine it became a thing to do every day and now it won't stop being a thing. 😔

I had severe alcoholism at a very young age. It was because I tried to "fit in" and... overdid it... It's been over 4 years since I even had a sip of alcohol. I'm very proud of myself for this streak.

Amazing
Good job. Proud of u stay strong
I feel like this was my case as well. I had bad social anxiety (and I didn’t even know it til the end) and always had to have a drink in my hand . I would drink to keep from feeling “awkward “ in social settings and that was a lot of the time so of course the drinks disappeared quickly. Eventually near the end my habits made me isolate myself and become a regular at my local bar, even goin in alone to sit and have a 3 beers and 2 doubles for a regular sitting and the weekends was even morel. 2 years 3 months in sobriety and My social anxiety actually diminished after about 5 months of quitting. I now always have to have a bottle of water in hand lol.
Same, me and my friend were all alcoholics at 16 lol, now i only drink on saturdays when i go out and thats it

I’ve been drinking heavily basically every day for a little over a year. I’m currently on day four of sobriety! I had hella cravings earlier & I just started bawling! It felt good to let my negative emotions out…instead of numbing them w alcohol.
68 now, and have drunk alcohol since my teens. As others have said, I was drinking to overcome anxiety and also to numb my feelings of low self esteem and depression. The death of my parents and both my older siblings perpetuated my need to drink more. Read and listen all you want to others that have battled with this terrible addiction, but it’s only you that can make the decision to quit.
I just decided one day that I wanted to stop poisoning my body and live a healthier life. Yes, it was obviously tough at first, as it is with all addictions and habits, but it does get easier as the weeks roll into months. I’ve never felt better physically and mentally as I do now. If I can do it, so can you..!!
Thank you.
Almost 48 hours. Small, but it's a start. And the last time I'll have to "start" because I'm NOT giving up this time. 25, drinking heavily since I was 20. I'm done wasting my life.
You got this!

Need the update tho!
@Themittens2012 you got this. Take it 1 hour at a time.
I’m about 4 days in. The first three days are definitely the worst, but today i woke up with so much energy! I promise it gets better. To anyone that’s reading this and trying to quit, you can do it. It helped me mentally to not tell myself “I’m quitting drinking today!” But instead tell myself, “I’m going to make myself live better every day.” Even if it’s a little less every day, you will eventually have a day where your body doesn’t like it anymore. The never-ending hair of the dog that bit you isn’t forever. It can start now. :)
How did you do? I hope you were successful. It's hard to not "have that one drink" each night too, it's not always about large quantities.
18 hrs now, sleep was tough last night, can't go back I gotta do physical work and at 61 the weight gain and sloth of alcoholism is catching up
I've been an alcoholic since I was a teenager, am now approaching 40. I've been considering trying to stop. This video helped me understand the effects it has on the body and makes me feel like quitting is something I can do. Thank you.
Not easy I was just like you until one day I woke up with acute pancreatitis the most painful thing I've ever experienced in this world unfortunately I didn't learn my lesson after that I began drinking again it took four more times of giving myself pancreatitis to finally learn the lesson. I hope you don't have to experience something this painful I hope you can on your own
I drank and done drugs for over 25 years. I am 47. I stopped in 2018. I just quit cold turkey and went to church. I hope you find the strength to stop. It is a challenge as well as a life changer. good luck
Do it while you have a choice. Later on, your body will violently reject alcohol and you won't have a choice. That's when you need to drink but can't because it makes you ill and because you can't drink, you become ill from withdrawal. It's best to do it voluntarily.
You absolutely can and you don’t have to do it alone, either! People are all around you that have made the decision to stop drinking and they WILL help you too if you seek them out. I wish the best for you, my friend!

Just turned 22 when I turned 21 I loved and I mean loved beer id go drinking Early in the morning before I go into work I worked around a bunch of alcoholics and it never helped. You become what you surround yourself with and I definitely learn that now that I'm 22. I just quit drinking for about a week. Had the worst headache I've ever had the other day and random body pain, I will still enjoy an occasional beer as in once a month. Occasional but never again. Will I go down that path? I'm so happy I seen this video so many times along with many others like it, alcohol is something that is not to be played with! I know you read most comments that say people's been doing it for 5 to 15 years. I'm so happy I didn't go down that road. I realized what I was doing and I stopped. It hurt so flipping bad but you got to put your foot down and stop!

What were your symptoms, how did you find out?
@@incremental_failure I’ll give you the whole story because if you have any of these symptoms I suggest seeking medical attention sooner rather than later. my very first symptom was my body literally rejecting alcohol. There were days I’d drink and I’d begin to wretch but I’d just power through it and continue to drink (Even when there was blood coming up I still drank). I completely ignored these symptoms because I didn’t think it was possible for someone my age to get this disease. It wasn’t until the jaundicing that I started to think that something might be wrong. I remember calling my sister over FaceTime and asking her to look at my eyes and if they seemed yellow. She was concerned of course but told me I could be overreacting and that I should just schedule an appointment with a doctor. I of course ignored this and it wasn’t until I got a ton of welts on my body after playing basketball that I really started worrying I googled all of this and stopped drinking immediately. 2 days later I threw up a cup of blood and rushed to the hospital. The doctors there were the ones who told me I was sick. This all happened over the course of 6 months from august2021-February2022. I’m still alive and well but my liver is getting worse looks like I’m going to need a transplant soon but I know I can beat this.
@@erostv9940positive vibes ❤❤❤ you got this. How are you doing a month later?
I drank heavy for 18 years. I'm proud to say I'm 43 years dry. It was very difficult but I was determined to stop. I changed a lot of habits and lost some friends who didn't support what I was going through. Its a long journey but well worth the trip.
That’s a great accomplishment! Wow!
Not an alcoholic (I think), but I was clearly using alcohol to scape difficult moments and get my mind off reality. I noticed also that I was having anxiety along with hangovers more and more often. So I decided to stop this christmas. It's been exactly two weeks today and I'm fascinated by how much more relaxed, composed and clear-headed I feel. The only thing troubling me is that social situations are now such a trigger. I'd drink at any and every table, and the urge is still there. People know me, waiters on restaurants ask me what beer I'm having when I enter. My father and friends assume I'll drink at birthdays and celebrations. So far I didn't, but man, that's tough.
Yes, it is! Your situation sound much like mine. Fortunately, I’m not often in social situations where alcohol is consumed, so I don’t have to resist drinking at those times. But if alcohol is there, I am always very tempted.
You can do this. I am in a similar boat. The benefits are worth the loss of a quick buzz
You can use "non-alc" beers instead, you still will "feel part of the group" and you will be doing something good for your body, there are also "non-alc" wines and bubbles but is more tough to find good quality, but give it a try, maybe is your new thing 🙂

I gave up drinking 2 years ago. I was never a big drinker, I never liked the taste (and still don't understand why some people do) but I did it for the effects, to lower my inhibitions because I am always shy and introverted.
But eventually the effects just didnt seem to be worth the costs and trouble.
I wont go back
I'm the same way but I go deep down on how I feel and my problems that I wouldn't let out if I was sober. That usually happens after a few drinks and few laughs but I don't know how the connversation goes from having a fun time to a deep serious discussion.
Me too I drink because it makes me more outgoing. I have trouble with being social or thinking I offended someone in any way
I mainly drink beers and wine. I don't drink a ton of liquor. It takes me a few months to finish a bottle of whiskey lol.
Interesting because I only drink for the taste of good craft beer, I hate the feeling of being buzzed and or drunk but I love the taste of an oak aged beer, a bourbon barrel aged stout, and some fruited sours. Good on you though. I’m trying to significantly cut back this year.
I'm the opposite. I love the taste. Honestly though I don't really know what I think of the effects 'cause I'm an extreme heavyweight so I've never been even close to drunk.
For those that are wanting to quit or are just quitting, my recommendation is get plenty of sleep, especially on the days you are struggling. I go to bed as early as 6pm some days. One of the reasons I've always went back to the bottle is because my emotions will get out of control after a while, I've decided to face that head on and sleep has been a great alternative to giving in.
Thanks for the advice
As a recovering alcoholic with a Year and 10 months sober, I concur about the going to bed early thing. I noticed I have more intense cravings during the night time (which is when I drank the heaviest) so going to bed early completely prevents any cravings from even being a thought in my head and plus since I quit drinking, my sleep has gotten SO much better!
@@hwoods-kg1jf Couldn't agree more. When I was drinking daily, I would get maybe a good 3-4 hours sleep straight, wake up at 2am almost on the dot, stay up until 4-5, get another hour of sleep and start my day. It was that way for years. Lately I've been getting a straight 7+ hours of sleep and it's done wonders for my level of energy and alertness. There's absolutely nothing to gain by going back to the bottle, but everything to gain and more by staying sober.

I've been moving more and more towards an alcohol-free lifestyle for years from being a daily drinker. Just put in 68 days without a drink, my longest stretch in 20 years. I don't consider having a drink as a "relapse", not for me anyway. This is a process that is rooted in de-coupling the substance from the habits. I did the same with cigarettes and I eventually went from a 14 year, pack a day smoker to non-smoker for the last 8 years. It takes time, and it takes a lot of failure to get it right.
This is a reasonable perspective. Thanks for sharing. I get tired of all the cheerleading nonsense. When I was young, it took time to plan a night of drinking. Every day was sober, but Friday we were going to party! It took effort to break the habit of sobriety. Now I'm old, and all of us have a daily habit of drinking. We literally have to plan a sober night.
So we plan it. And that's a win. It took us decades to become alcoholics, and it's going to take work for us to become sober. I also quit smoking from a pack a day. I'm happy to play the long game.
Thank you! I’m scared

It’s truly amazing how well the human body can recover after such damage being done. Honestly over the last 27+ years I can’t remember a time greater than 2 weeks that I’ve been sober. Now as I get older I’m seeing the damaging effects of my drinking, both in my physical attributes and in my marriage. I’ve now watched a couple of these videos and they’re always inspiring and informative, I just have to make that hard choice to get the help needed to quit. I come from a heavily alcoholic family so I’ve seen firsthand the damage it does, and yet still I’ve found myself in the trap.
I really do hope eventually to have some of the inspiring comments many of you people have left here. In all honesty and admiration, I give a serious congratulations to all of you who have found yourselves free of this addiction, you should all be extremely proud!!
for past few days I've been considering to quit drinking while, today might be my last because I'm pretty tired of feeling like miserable next day, it's getting worse as I get bit older, I also reminded myself recently that there is better thing to do than doing nothing but getting drunk, there is something that you can do beside drinking like gaming, doing crafts, hanging out with non drinker folks etc.
it's all about controlling yourself and make right choice by your own, be careful when you decide to quit drinking because of withdraws if you are severely alcoholic,
if you are thinking about the fact that you need to get help, consider it as sign to stop and change
best luck.

I’m 26 and struggling with alcohol. I need to quit now because life’s passing me by. I’ve got broken dreams, failed relationships and career aspects gone to waste because all the time I’ve chosen alcohol. All my friends are moving on in life and people are starting to recognise me as a guy who isnt respectable. I’ve had my fair share of attempts, things usually topple because a lot of my friends only do drinking activities which creates a huge temptation others can’t fathom.
Man being an alcoholic for 10+ years this really hits hard. All the trouble/ fights/ duis/ wrecks and craziness I’ve been through I always made excuses that it wasn’t alcohol. I’ve been 1 year and a half sober and I’ll never look back.
I’ve been sober for at least 3.5 years, it’ll be 4 years in May. It was hard for the first 6 months for me, but it got easier after that. Seeing others after they’ve drank too much helped remind me what I went through when I drank.

7 years sober after 30 years of drinking. Ended up guzzling vodka round the clock on days off during the last few years. Almost died from accidentally cutting digital artery whilst drunk and that was my wake up call. Hit rock bottom at that point and needed to look at why I drank. Went deep into the whys and wherefores of my life, understood trauma, found forgiveness and acceptance and have never looked back. Alcohol was just a symptom. After I lost both parents to alcohol abuse, I binge drank 2-3 times a week for 20 years. When I think of all the time and money I wasted, and all the trouble I got into, and looking back I have nothing to show for it. Once you reach a certain age though it catches up to you, there's a point of no return so that's why I feel I'm very lucky that somehow I found the strength within myself to break the cycle. Four months may not seem like a long time, but it's the farthest I've ever come. Everyday I'm becoming a better, stronger person for myself and my family. I just did it ONE DAY AT A TIME and allowed myself 2 weeks to be GROUCHY and SLEEPY and knew I would most likely over eat things like DILL PICKLES and Marinated Mushrooms to satisfy my Sugar-Munchies withdrawls. lol It took about a Month for me to be "myself" again. After that though, I didn't miss those addictions at all. :~) Drinking only WATER with meals and sipping "Salt Water" through the day helped to keep me from OVER EATING that first month. I found that when I "thought" I wanted an Alcoholic Drink that if I sipped Dill Pickle Juice from a Cocktail Drink Glass slowly the urge went away in short order. The OP was correct about cutting it ALL OUT at the Same Time, it seems to be too much on the surface, but it will actually make it easier.
I was on a first class trip to death when I was a drunk….my drinking was beyond out of hand. I finally got the courage to get help, and 325 days later I feel great. Lot of things have gotten better for my family. Life is good. If you’re struggling, get help. Alcoholism is punishing on all aspects of your life and health.
3 Years drinking every single day, with no break days whatsoever. 13 days clean and never going back 💪🏼
did you have withdrawals?

I’ve dealt with pretty bad social anxiety most of my life but after 3 days sober I feel it getting better. Curious to what I’ll feel when I’m 2 months sober.
Same here man keep us updated
I drank for quite a long time thinking it was helping my anxiety.. once I stopped I was literally a different person. You'll see huge benefits.
@@esstee69 do you still suffer from anxiety?
You will become much more confident and relaxed in social situations
Every day I get stronger every day I get better write it down big words on wall in your face read it see it beleave .True happiness is on its way stay strong 8 years 10 months sober.
2 1/2 years sober. I was a binge drinker. My life is totally different and so much clarity. I'm so grateful. Anyone reading this, you can do it. The best thing you can do for YOU. ❤🙏
I'm not a heavy drinker, but a couple years ago I've landed in the hospital due to drinking too much alcohol. Over the last couple months I've reduced drinking a little bit and started thinking of quitting alcohol. And after watching this I've decided. I'm quitting.
2 months in - it feels amazing
@@elionales7817 nice job! keep it up, as you know it’s worth it! I’m happy for you that you quit, it takes a very strong person to do it!
Literally just got my first dwi yesterday. It’s a wake up call to me. It’s either sober up or die. I’m so ashamed that I let myself get like this and the fact I could’ve hurt or killed someone and wrecking a innocent family.
Good to know that you're not hurt and haven't hurt anyone as well. The right choices starts with us. Im about 3 weeks sober after getting some alarming blood work. I wish you well
You got this it’s a lesson learned and you have a chance to change I believe in you
2 months sober! Been drinking since 19, almost 40 now. Lots of good times and bad times, hangovers and regrets. But that's all in the past, and I'm looking forward to my future. I'm starting to focus more on my photography, so I always say I'm replacing a shot 🥃 with a shot 📸
Been sober for almost 5 months now but my life dont get better yet its really hard.
Respect ✊ for everyone who goes trough this sickness!
Sadly I'm in a bad phase of addiction for about a year I average about 9 or 10 drinks per day. Havnt had a good night sleep in months because of withdrawals at night. I'm functional, and work a full-time job, all bills are paid and family life is good. Im just tired of feeling bad and destroying my body. I hope that others out there don't have to suffer this.
As you say your managing everything else in good order, you seem pretty positively balanced… just stop the drink mate (easier said) but think how much worse it could be, you’re obviously on the right track in life and drink is your only burden. Just get rid… then that’s it. It’s gone and everything else is ship shape and shiny. Good luck brother👍🏻
I was the same except for around 4 years averaging 12-15. Didn't see any real need to quit other than being tired all of the time and generally not feeling good. Then the panic attacks started setting in and oh man did they hit hard. So I quit and then the panic attacks got even worse. Fought them for three months before I started feeling normal. But I lost 30 pounds, my blood pressure dropped 20 points and I finally sleep good and feel healthy.
Perhaps try a programme of reducing intake over a period of say 3 months ..9 only per day for 1st week, then 8 the ff week etc..wish u well
@@ivannaidu5401 Thanks for the motivation. I've been doing much better lately. Still drink every day, but it's more like 3 or 4. Feeling better too.
I am happy that I am 6 months sober. Going gym 5 days a week, focussing on gains! 😊
I've been 55 days sober and I couldn't be happier! Don't give up if you're trying to quit. I recommend getting a support group etc. You got this!
21 days ago I decided to take a break from drinking, I’ve never felt better. Thinking of making this permanent.
I would drink every day until I got tired and fell asleep for over a year or maybe 2. The last 3 days I did that I would wake up with a pulsating pain where my kidneys are. I decided to stop and have been sober for 3 days now. Have had constant temptations but I would think about that pain I felt and notice it's definitely a warning sign. I haven't felt pain since I decided to stop. I'm looking to make it more permanent aswell because I was in great shape but fell into a depression and stopped working out during my alcoholic phase and I feel like a slug. I want to get that quality of life back that I had before. Wish you luck in your life.
After drinking heavily for years and becoming a total alcoholic after the passing of my parents before the pandemic, I'm now sober since June 2020. Don't miss the alcohol or the lethal hangovers at all. Non alcoholic alternatives are fantastic. Best thing ever
how much and for how long did you drink ? any health problems ?
Know your parents would be proud
I had a pretty severe over-consumption from age 20-22 because I was dealing with a lot and I realized early on I wasn't the one in control. I took my first fully sober month in fall 2022 it helped me reduce the intake quite a lot afterwards. I took another month fall 2023. Then I was completely sober from january 2nd til the middle of March this year for my neurodivergence assessment.
Lately I have been drinking wine about 1-3 evenings a week with varying amounts.
Every time I have been sober I learned or redescovered something about myself. So far I haven't had the resolution to swear off Alcohol permanently but now I am considering it for the first time.
Yesterday evening I drank 5 bottles of beer. When I lost inhibition, I've ordered 0.75l bottle of red wine through Uber. I've been up until morning, occasionally smoking. I don't remember falling asleep but I woke up at 2:30PM. I have eaten just 1 banana in last 35 hours. Tomorrow I'll be fine, eating properly all day. But this must end! I feel very bad about it, because this was not the first time it happened. I'm male, 36 and I'm considering quitting alcohol entirely
I had a similar issue, talk to your Dr about the Sinclair method. It worked for me, only your Dr can prescribe the medication. You take it before you drink. It works haven't had a drink in years and if I did I'd take the pill. Otherwise ill binge and not eat, miss work.
