Thank you so much for making a simple task out of what HP support make REALLY DIFFICULT with running around in circles and no actual proper instructions. I was directly copying the .exe to the usb drive as the extract option didn't show up. I had to forcefully open 7zip and manually extract it to the usb. Thanks so much for showing us how this process needs to work.
Glad the video helped.

Tim, thank you a lot for this video. I've been fooling around for more than 4 hours doing the impossible to make Windows 10 installer recognize the new Samsung SSD drive I just bought. If I lived near you, I would buy you a beer!
Glad the video helped.
It worked! Thank you
You're welcome!
Hey Tim nice fix for this problem. I wonder if something similar would help for a recent problem I have that started after being forced to do the upgrade on my Quickbooks Pro 2016 desktop version, when I used up my last postponement. I also had to upgrade my bank connection not long before this started as they have been taken over by a new bank. The problem that I'm having is that I use an external drive enclosed 4 TB WD black hard drive for my regular backups of QB as well as other data such as statements for credit cards, bank statements, and even my scuba video's. I regularly backup most of my data ( not video's) 1st to this drive then transfer the latest data to USB drives that I alternate with one always offsite. I switch off the enclosure when I'm not using it as I always have but now since the upgrade it won't show up unless I navigate to disc management and choose to re scan the disc's. Once I've done that, my drive is visible and available to use as it always was. I built the PC with an esata port on the mother board and bought the enclosure with an esata port which is how they're connected. I have a few esata external drives which I bought since they were the only option for expanding the capacity of the DVR's from my cable company which is the reason for the esata. The drive works fine once I re-scan in disc management, but having to do this every time I want to use the drive is becoming a real pain. I wonder if there is a similar solution to the problem you solved in this video despite the differences? This PC was a Windows 7 to 10 upgrade which I would definitely prefer not to nuke and repave if possible. Thanks in advance if you have any thoughts on this problem.
I get the same issue with Windows 10 and 11. Sometimes the drives will simply mount but other times I have to go through disk management to get the drive to show up. I really think it is just a Windows thing. No idea why. Thanks for commenting.
@@TimsComputerRepair I appreciate you taking the time to answer! I can't help but wonder if the esata connection is making it stall. I might try to see if there are any drivers available just for that. The drive in the enclosure is identical to the internal drive that I have in the case. It's not the boot drive, a Samsung 250 GB is for that. I guess I'll get faster at getting to disc management eventually! I miss Windows 7! 🙂
Thanks dude! You saved me a lot of time!
Great!
Really Great Job

THANK YOU. for this video!!!! I've been on the phone with the most incompetent fools with HP who's their only answer is to buy additional warranty or just buy parts and services from them as a solution... which makes absolutely no sense to me...
I'm able to get the drive recognized and windows installing. Now on to whatever other hurdle I need to figure out that comes up...
