- No drive shows up when trying to install Windows 10 or 11. I will show you how to fix this. Seems to be an issue with 11th Gen Intel Processors RST Drivers. Easy fix.
Updated 2023 Version Of This Video:
• Where Do You Want to I...

Download the file from link below, extract it to a flash drive, or use same flash drive you use to Install Windows 10 or 11.
Download link from Intel:
www.intel.com/content/www/us/...
Get the VMD driver, not the non-vmd.
Thanks for watching, Dale

It would help if Windows had all these drivers in its install software. Too little, too late at Microsoft.
Thanks Dale, you are always ready to help!!
Thanks for the video. You're the only person I've seen that's actually showing the file that you need to download, everyone else is like "you find it on intel"
Hi Dale! Thanks for the video. Will the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Driver work with my Intel Atom processed Laptop's eMMC drive which is manufactured by SanDisk. I'm trying to install a Tiny 11 Windows 11 iso as listed on the internet Archive and the installer doesn't detect my eMMC drive. Any suggestions for a solution to this
Thank you so much. I was having trouble trying to get windows 10 back on a system for my mother. She got so adjusted to 10 & didn't want to stick with 11.
Just bought soft soft! So excited to get started!!
Thank you bro. I can't thank you enough. I was having trouble setting my laptop up. I've been thinking if I would need to get a new hard drive lol. Thanks again!!!
Thanks for this. It really worked 👍🏼
Love you! :) Saved my day as well. Thank you for the help and happy holidays!
Thanks, happy holidays to you.
Great video that solved the problem I had.
Many thanks to you.
Thx man, this video helped me alot :). Keep up the good work!
Thanks for much! Only video I've found that fixed my problem!
Great video. Would like to make an important question in my case concerning the most recent dell computers that come with raid as an active drive controller (intel rst active) and not ahci. The problem is that whenever i try to boot into these machines in a winpe environment with the Strelec package if you know that, in order to reset the admin password if i cannot log into it or just backup the data of a user into an external hdd before reinstalling windows if the precedent os is damaged and cannot be repaired, the internal hdd-s or ssd-s or just the os directories into the drives are invisible. I click on “This PC” and there’s only my usb visible and nothing else. I made a search on the internet and it seems it has something to do with the intel rst driver that abstracts the hdd from the os. Please help me, what should i do in this case in order to be able managing the pc even when the pc is unbootable or just the admin password is not recognized
Thank you so much! Solved my issue as well.
Helped a lot brother!!💖✨
Thanks Dale, very informative
Thank you so much it worked I have been trying to fix it for ages and was getting to the point of throwing it out till I found this vid thank you
that was exactly what I needed , thank you so much
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!! it worked for me and saved me the trip to the computer shop!!
such a nice guy helped us alot
Thank you for your help, you saved my day, Dale.:)
Your welcome. Dale
very informative.. thank you so much
Thanks, this worked like a charm
Just to clarify, you want to download the VMD driver (not the non-VMD driver). I have only come across this problem with 11th gen laptop CPU's on all brands (HP/Dell/Lenovo/Acer). 10th gen laptop CPU's and earlier don't have this problem. Also, 11th gen desktop CPU's don't have this problem either.
Thank you, I clarified that in the description.
do i need a hard drive to do this
I'm trying to do this on 12th gen Desktop it's still not showing up after the driver install. Any help? I'm jumping from 9th to 12th gen, but can't install windows I'm at a dead stop at this point. Thanks
I'm still stuck with load driver missing....until I want to sell my notebook...haha
Very helpful
WORKED ! For my ACER SWIFT 3 . THANK YOU
Hi, I’m having this same problem on my HP 14. Any tips on that?
Thx a lot buddy! Pretty helpful! Happy New Year 🎈
Happy New Year to you too. Thx
hello, can you please upload the folder to a drive so we can access it because we no longer find the zip folder in the given link.
Hi, Did you solve the problem please ?
i have an HP DW0083WM i have tried the link you have their in the description but the have remove both these zip files i found them on other sites but they dont work do you have any other suggestions
If only you were a day earlier with this video, i would have saved myself 20 minutes of finding a fix on random yt channels
Never faced the issue, but can you tell me what is the fix for Ryzen based computers (If I ever face this issue)?
Sir i been fighting with my hp laptop putting a new ssd in and i couldn't get the drive to pop up. I been trying crazy stuff that i should be messing with. You video fixed it. Out of the 100 vids i watched you was the only one that worked
thank you! i've been working on getting my laptop to boot for like a week now
thanks for the info. For the most part, your video helped me. 2 additional notes; I had to actually pick the 3rd Intel Rapid Storage zip file cause my DELL laptop has an INTEL processor (the 2nd one is for non-Intel). Once I used this one and extracted it to a USB drive, all was good. Also, while all my drives showed up, they were all unavailable & locked at first cause of bitlocker. In order to bypass this, I basically had to delete ALL partitions (5 of them). Since I was doing a total clean install and didn't have any data to worry about, this was not a problem for me. Just keep this in mind too. Again, thanks for the info
yup 3rd one works for me also
yeah they only have 1 on the website now. i found this one linked in the comments of another video but it didn’t work for me it still doesn’t show my drive. here’s the link incase it works for you
can u send me the non vmd zip file
Hi, where can i find the link for the vmd one?
Thank you man, you helped me a lot .
Thank You so much. Many Many Thanks. Dear. 🥰
The same page comes up but only the download setup is available to click... not the second or 3rd
Bro. Where to put the downloaded folder at? In the bootable drive? Or do i need another normal pendrive?
Thank you so so much for this video! I wacth always your video
Tanx man ... It's so helpful 😘
Can this happen on old intel h57 chipsets with i3 550 processors thank for the info very useful
tried doing this in two 12th gen HP desktops. no matter what drive i use, it starts MICRO FREEZING after couple of minutes of usage and runs normally for next few minutes and loops back again.. i tried using 980 PRO w & w/0 heat sink, WD SN 850 and also samsung 970 evo plus. so i had to switch it back to SLOW OEM drive and everything runs normal. have you seen any cases like that ?
THX BRO, HELPED VERY MUCH!
Thank you so much, this save me a lot of headaches..
Hi thank you so much this worked for me with my 12th Gen Acer Nitro 5
What's the technical reason for why this is happening? Shouldn't intel be investigating this? I ran into this problem when building my pc with a 12400f and B660M-A mb. I had to look it up for a couple of days before someone mentioned turning off vmd controller. It worked after this but what in the world is a vmd controller? Why put it on the consumer to manually download drivers just to install windows?
I have an Acer Aspire with a 12th gen I5, is the link the same. I've tried everything and it always comes up to the no drive. Thanks, Mike
I’m having the same problem with my desktop computer on Windows 11, will this fix my problem as well?
Ok so I’ve done everything but when I choose my folder it doesn’t load anything but then when I uncheck hide drivers that aren’t compatible with computer’s hardware 2 option appear but either one I choose doesn’t work it just loads the green bar like if it’s loading but the green bar never reaches the end and when it finishes nothing happens?
There are no more F6flpy option to download, Only the "SetupRST". Where can we get it? Any chance you share your F6flpy file with us?
Thanks this was helpful
Hellow, i know that your video is not very recent but currently i have the same problem. I really Done everything as you recommended and also the other clips from youtube with the same content. I see that all of you, including the people that comment below had a really success. My problem is here: After i put the most recent driver on the USB flash (with windows 10 on) i need to press click on the stick to expand and to show me the folders from inside. The problem is that it does not expand at all and practically i cannot see the content from the USB Flash. It still give me the same text: "No signed device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers." But again does not expand when i press click. DO you know what is the problem? I think even if i don t have a driver on the USB Flash still need to let me to expand to see the folders from inside, no?
thank you from Germany . You are great .
So this worked for me to get past the window when it loads the files to boot windows fresh, but when it does the force restart at the end I end up back where I started with no RST drivers on the computer, how can I solve this?
Thank you so much. I called their support, but they could not help. You are God send. Thank you again
I keep finding videos that say this exact same thing. But, what no one mentions is what the people that have AMD processors are supposed to do. I have a skytech gaming pre-built. It has an AMD in it. So what website conveniently has a group of drivers for my system? Or can I just use the Intel ones until I get up and running?
Did You ever Find a way to do it with AMD??
Thank you so much! They changed the procedure slightly because you can no longer download just that file. You have download the setupRST.exe then you have to use the terminal to extract it by copying ./SetupRST.exe -extractdrivers SetupRST_extracted into termial/powershell (not command prompt) once you do that it extracts it and then you put those extracted files on the usb. when you select browse you have to click through all the folders and I believe its called vmd select that one and it will appear as the selected drive you do that it installs and shows all the drives! First intel build and this was beyond annoying I spent all day trying to figure this out.
This worked!!!!! THANK YOU!!
For anyone trying to do this now, make sure you get the right `SetupRST` file for you computer model, but the rest of the steps are the same. Browse for the VMD folder to select the driver.
@@JJ-QSim having issues extracting it when im typing the exact same lines into terminal
@@Solaricis are you typing ` ./SetupRST.exe -extractdrivers SetupRST_extracted` into the terminal (without the backticks `)? That is the command I used.
Great tutorial really helped me. Thanks!
where did you find the zip file? This is the newest comment so I'm asking you
Hello, where can I install the driver only(vmd), because it only shows the setup file in website.
Thank you for the video😊
God Bless you for sharing this solution!
How would I fix this issue if I had formatted the drive that was locked with bit locker ? When I get to install windows 11 it says there’s no drives for me to install on and when I liskdisk it only shows the removable storage usb with the iso on it
the flash drive stuff worked but none of them was compatible with my computer. I have an alienware R10 Any advice? if so what if i buy a new SSD will it help the issue??
Nice i just bought a new laptop and i want to install windows lite On my new laptop but i was confused why windows 11 installatio . Can't detect the partition
Really useful video. Thank you very much
thank you for your help!
Thank you very much,i have the same problem, the third driver worked for me...Acer i5...
Thanks for your help
In my case, it was VMD drivers but it indeed helped a lot
have the same issue did what you did in video did not work have a asus motherboard and a ryzen 9 processor thank you input
what about now that intel removed the file from the website?
you saved my life thank you
Thanks man.... That was awesome...
I have issue finding how to change Sata device to AHCI in hp probook 640 i just bought new hard drive with window installed
Can't find the intel file? its deleted😢
It seems as if Intel has removed this file. Do you have any idea how else can we get the driver?
Hey, did you get it figured out? Im currently stuck with the same issue
Thank you so much you saved my life
Thank you verymuch
It’s the most progress I’ve made so far, but when it gets to that LAST loading bit, none of the partitions or drivers or whatever show up on the list on this new pc I built and I can’t figure out why😩
Same have you solved it?
@@janneplayz2370 I ended up having to move the ssd into the 3rd slot because the first and second didn’t acknowledge it’s existence for some reason in the first or second slots, maybe try moving your parts around to make sure it can register it, because I had this problem with 2 PCs in a row
@@SnowyBlizzard DUDE it fucking worked!!! Thank you!! i really dont understand why i doesnt work with some slots
@@janneplayz2370 I spent 8 hours fixing this one problem, I’m glad it could help!😁
this would not work with amd cpus right i am having a boot loop issue and i can see my drives but it just freezes
Awesome.....Thank You 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank ... Helpful
Im having this issue in 13th gen.. There is a slightly different file under 10th-13th gen rapid storage intel page. Im guessing the same applies?
Yea man it's different with my 12th gen
does windows 11 have this one or they already updated their drivers and we will not face this one when installing
Amazing this worked after 1 million other things failed!!!!!!!
The idiots from Intel removed the non vdm option... need to find it somewhere else.
Great video thanks for the help !!
When i am on the Intel site it doesn't show me the VMD and non VMD .....just the setupRST can you help me.....?!?!
The ZIP files no longer available on the intel website. where can it download?
I love this man, he is my saviour
Thank you!
I tried to use that driver from intel but somehow it not work (could of been me). I went to laptop maker (Dell) and downloaded the Intel RST driver for my laptop and it still wasn't loading. I was naïve enough to think it would automatically find it in folder... NOT... Then I went through the whole folder and found the vmd driver, clicked on that and wala - problem was solved. Thanx Dale!!!
This video helped me a lot, just so nobody makes the same stupid mistake I did, remember to EXTRACT ALL from the Intel download onto the UBS boot drive, otherwise it won't work.
Thanks!
Hello Dale, you have outdated video. Intel doesn't have that link anymore.😢😢😢 Can you please help🙏🙏🙏. I have a clean installation. Upgrade my laptop SATA HDD on SATA SDD Crucial.
Great Info just to clarify its the VMD driver not the non-VMD to use right?
Because in this video you use the non-VMD driver.
Actually, either will work.
When i got to the link I don't see the zip file download
Where do I find it
the files have been removed from the intel website
is there any other way
could not find the VND.. link shows only one exe file :(
I have this driver and showing this driver too but after installing the driver ,sdd till not showing
Plz guide mee
Doesnt the driver depend on the computer aswell?
I had this problem too, this video helped solving it i was booting from a sd card (only thing I had ) i have to get the drivers and do the sane he doing but you gotta search for the bin32 or bin64 also the driver i needed was Realtek card reader 2.0 (Google is your friend here ) extract the files to your hdd before format
Thanks again bro watched this video n it didn't help but gave me insight to solve my problem so big thanks
The problem is that to boot other software like Acronis to back up the drives, there is no option to reload the SSD driver file for detection. If possible, guide me how to call the internal hard drive of such devices for all bootable programs.
You can also turn off the vmd controller in the bios
@@CofFree03 My laptop is model (HP 15-dw3024nia) and it does not have the ability to disable vmd Controller in the bios!
