    [GOOD TIP] 5:55 For better cleaning fins where dust piled at the fanning end you have to use soapy water dipped tooth brush and carefully clean those fin holes after vacuuming and removing big bust piles on the fins. Then use moist brushing second third times to remove the soapy moisture out fins with careful brushing, you will see a lot of dirt on the brush. Because micro dust particles settled on the fin surfaces and soapy water brushing after vacuuming will do 2nd stage better cleaning of fins so next time the dust wont settle inside the fins so frequently.

    Very good! Nice thorough clean up on the fan. I usually use the air compressor can and a bit of alcohol but never have I done the fan inside out. Thanks I will do this on my next one. I noticed my temperature is higher than normal so I'm thinking it could be the heatsink? Maybe some new thermal paste will give it a try.

    its also important to note that the Fans use a lubricant inside the center hole ... if this lubricant is dried up, the fan will not perform very well..

      Apply a small amount of white lithium grease to the shaft with a toothpick. Be careful because some fans have a small ball bearing at the bottom of the hole/bushing.

      You are right, I do it everytime I clean the fan because its a pretty quick job, but, to be honest, quality thermal paste should last a few years in decent condition, so you could perfectly change it once for every 2 times you dust clean the cooling system.

  • @sluggie1018
    @sluggie1018 3 года назад

    If you have a fan that doesn't separate, don't force it because you will break it. instead do this:
    1. Dip the whole fan in lubricant and shake it around, marinade that bad boy for 10 minutes, then churn it around gently to get that sweet lube inside. if you can't do that then get a dropper (I didnt bother to get a dropper so I used eye dropper, emptied the inside and filled it with engine lubricant.) and apply a VERY generous amount of lubricant to it from all sides. I use this method and it works perfectly. make sure to hold the fan in a way that allows gravity to drip into the centre motor.
    2. Get some paper towel and try to clean it as much as you can , it will drip lube for a while, just keep clean all parts of the fan. put the paper towel between the metal shell and the fan and clean as much as possible.
    3. when you have gotten it as clean as you could, wrap the fan in a towel and away from the pc. activate the fan to get rid of the remaining oil. even if you cleaned really well it will still squirt all over the place so get a wool towel and make sure its covered perfectly but making sure the towel doesnt touch the fan. run it on max speed for few minutes, even if theres no more oil coming out.
    4. reassemble and done. tested and confirmed by me. my 6 year old laptop is running fine once again.

    You should clean your laptop heatsink fins with water and soap... I am guessing that you are a smoker... since the dust is all brown and dark colored.... I have the same problem but not that much, the grimes produced by the cigarette smoke needs to be cleaned with water and soap... just rinse it with soap water. If not... the dust build up could happen in 3 months time.

      +Donny Slander right - or, if it's legal in his country - he could buy IPA. It's really cheap. Also that hole in the center is the place that needs special cleaning. So fan is basically like a human. Use soap and take care about holes.

    My dear friend. Excuse me for my english. I'am portuguese.
    My Compaq presario CQ60 200EP, wich is 9 yars old, is very slow in the web sites, facebook, youtube, skype, etc. I has already replace the HDD by an SSD but with "Speccy" aplication instaled I realized that Motherboard and Graphics, boths, reaches a temperature of 100 º C. All the other components are in a normal (including the CPU= 17ºC). Moreover however I can not hear the fan cooler like before. Right now I am using a domestic fan to cool down the pc and the temperatures have changed to 65ºC in boths (Motherboard and Graphics).
    Do you think that Motherboard and graphics are dead?
    Can I replace RAM boards DDR2 for DDR3?
    Must I disassemble the pc and clean it?...and replace the cooler?

      I'm no expert, but I think that you should disassemble the PC itself. 100 degrees is hot and it would be worth it to replace the cooler or fan.
      And if you aren't confident enough, you could always take it to a technician who is willing to help.

    That's removing (in some part even "moving") dust, not cleaning... Also you forgot to oil it. For real cleaning you need some thinner to get rid of old lubricant which slows down fan a lot. Compressed air could be enough for simple clean, as it's not really air but thinner in gas form. And don't fear water and soap. If you don't want to wait for drying it up, just clean that spinning part - you can easily dry it using paper towel.

      Personally if you have any doubts with your fan, I would just replace it. Fans are incredibly cheap and not really worth stripping and oiling.
      Over oiling the fan or using the wrong oil will further the chances of failure.

    • @KrzysiuNet
      @KrzysiuNet 7 лет назад

      Yeah, I agree, but in my case it's all about Do-It-Yourself movement. I just prefer to do things myself, if I can. But that's my way of life and it's not better or worse - just different :) BTW I oiled fan with different things and it was always OK. For now I'm using liquid paraffin from pharmacy and it's so far the best. But yeah, there might be some oil that will make things worse.

    • @nuddin99
      @nuddin99 8 лет назад +2

      That wount get the dust out though. Its attacked to the heatsink.

  • @alexandermacleod3292
    @alexandermacleod3292 4 года назад

    Why not just remove the heat sink instead of the entire mobo?

    • @macrobi1
      @macrobi1 4 года назад

      because by cleaning it with a brush you throw the whole dust back into the computer? The exit whole is oftenly the biggest dust nest and if we don`t remove it completely this cannot be cleant 100 %. I would clean it carefully with a vac if too difficult to remove.
