Two words I can offer - Holy Spirit - innovative, inspiring, active in our world, day by day since time began, but as the Paraclete for 2000 years ago. So very tangibly and visibly...
1974 my brother was approached to do the music for an amateur Godspell. No score so he listened and transcribed for the other musicians. Not bad for an HS senior. So the first time I saw Godspell was in the round. Few years later and it was a USO production in W Germany, then a community production in Virginia Yeah, loved them all. Each different, yet all so similar.
One of the best things of living in New York is always strolling through Central Park and coming across so many celebrities and up and coming musicians and actors performing for free everywhere for donations. Unless they were born rich they all have to go through this process, its their right of passage. And you often get to witness it.
Very true, you have to pay your dues, and work a lot for free, and lot's of student film work, to get that Camera experience, , I did this as a young man in the 90s, your up against a lot of competition I used to meet people from all over the country just trying to get noticed,
Great film, but what's funny in an interview with Victor Garber after he shot Titanic someone asked him about his part in GODSPELL and he was I knew you where going to ask, do I have to answer, all he said well I was young and needed the work, but that afro??
This is great. I love Godspell as saw it in London in the 1970's. Can't believe I am watching this insight to the making of the film. Wonderful moments captured.
Not by chance in any way. The Holy Spirit, beloved, enigmatic, innovative knows what He is doing, and it is life's greatest reward to work with Him, and to encourage Him to work with and in and through us. I did and do, though for many years I was (largely) blind. Now I am not. Interesting only if David Greene and the cast knew that that was happening to them, or had an inkling at least, or just thought it was artistic professionalism. The result is kind of the same, but it is good to see the love and the truth for what it is...
This explains the wonderful quality Godspell brought! It was ORGANIC! They were really singing while they danced (probably tracked over later but the important thing is they were in the moment)
I saw Godspell in Mpls you n the early 1970’s. I’m 72 now. My church Bethany Lutheran In Rice Lake, WI. We sang “On the Willows” at our service this morning.” Our Northern Star Theatre did Godspell the in the early 1990’s. Thank you for this gorgeous musical! Lynn Sulackow, Hitchcock,SD
Ironically, I first saw this film while at youth church camp, in the very conservative Southern Baptist Convention, during the mid-70s. It is only nominally "Christian," that being only a pretext to a zany hippy dance piece. Don't know why it was selected.
Because the Holy Spirit is behind it, within it, through it, from it and beyond it. Raising the genius, love and truth. As simple, or not simple, as that...
Absolutely Love This Movie!!!! I watch it ever Good Friday!!! ❤❤❤
No words to say how much I love this show.

5:24 “a boy from Chicago” Wish he had said Merrell Jackson! Miss him so much!
I agree! Merrell was incredible and his version of All Good Gifts is the singular interpretation of that song

Lynne Thigpen was incredible. RIP
Godspell really was genius
RIP Lynne Thigpen. My son loved "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego" where she played the boss.
Lynn Thigpen was fantastic.
What a great cast! It's a shame some of them died so young.
Well,Here we are 50 years later and every time I see Robin,I just fall in love, over and over again.

Amen to that! Very well put.
Thank you so much. This is so cool, and I didn't dream anything like it existed. GODSPELL is a very special musical in my family.

AMO este filme....nao consigo ver sua cópia na íntegra.😪😪😪😪
Imagine shooting a movie in NYC for $61,000.
I believe "$64K Question" is a turn of phrase based on the title of an old game show. The actual film budget was $1.3 million
I want to go out with Robin Lamont.
Thank You...
May I ask politely...what happened to part one? :-)
